Ordered the trainer online and it arrived in lest then 2-weeks. Assembly was easy with no problems with the instruction. The motion is comparable to gym quality equipment as well as resistance, distance and heart rate readings. The moving handles angles take a little to get use to. The stride feels good and relatively quiet....

I purchased this elliptical to replace a old tread mill. Assembly was easy for me due to my handyman talents. This machine works and preforms just like the one I use at my gym. It is a very stable with very little movment thru my workout. If you are looking for a good home elliptical this machine is great with a great price.
...

Just bought this today and I'm very pleased with it. My husband put it together in about an hour. Everything came undamaged in the box. Saw reviews about the screen being dim but I was able to see the numbers just fine. Love that I can plug my iPhone into it and listen to music. Only complaint is that it is a little shaky the harder I go but I think it's because it's on carpet. My husband put down wood planks underneath it and it seems to help with the shaking. While I was at Sears I looked at a Nordic Track but it was just too expensive. This elliptial is great for the price!
...

This thing clunks like a 5 yr old kid beating a drum! NordicTrack sent a repair person. He couldn't figure when the noise was coming from so ordered parts and replace a major portion of the machine. When that didn't resolve the noise the story became - - that noise is part of normal operation. Well if the noise is normay why did we spend months waiting on replacement parts?

Noice can be heard throughout the house and is louder than my headphones can mask. Good workout but NOT a quite one!
...

Bought the E95 about two weeks ago and use it everyday. Seems to be a very well made product so far. It is sturdy and does not wobble like some other machines i compareded. It is very quiet and you can actually talk to people around you in a normal voice even with the built in fan running. The fan is pretty much useless though and does not move any air so I do not use it. The adjustable foot pedals do not eliminate numb toes and I do not see any benefits. The display is large and easy to use and the heart rate control is a plus.
...

overall I love the elliptical, but I have had it less than 2 weeks, and it has already fallen apart on me causing me to sprain my ankle. In addition, I would agree with those who say it is noisy. Trying to contact NordicTrack about the problem is completely difficult as they never return calls or emails in a timely manner. I would just love to start over....

I've owned this ellipitical for about 2 years now and it has broken 3 times already! Under warranty the crank itself broke! Thankfully it was in the labor and parts warranty timeframe so it didn't cost us anything but time. About 3 months after the repair man fixed it the crank arm broke! Thankfully the repair man had ordered one when he fixed the crank so I had one at the house, so I replaced it no problem. Again 3 months later the crank arm I had replaced broke again in the same place! Since it's not under warranty NordicTrack wanted to charge me $150 for the part! That is crazy, it's not even 2 years old yet! Cheaply made product, please do your research and find a better company to give your money to!
...

Starting at the very beginning, I would suggest considering sears.com for the purchase of any Nordic Track item, if only for their delivery policy. Sears will put the item where you want it, while Nordic Track will charge you a hundred bucks just to get it in the door. Next would come packaging and assembly. This elliptical is well packaged and the assembly instructions are clear. Allow plenty of time and be prepared for a large volume of refuse from the packaging. I feel certain steps require a second set of hands to hold pieces while they are joined. On the very first use of the elliptical after assembly I noted a clunk which always occured at the same pedal position. I spent several hours trying to locate the source and remedy it before contacting customer service. That began the misadventure. Eventhough purchased from Sears, Nordic Track handles all service issues. I have read complaints about difficulty getting through on the telephone, but I will say I always received a......

I received this as a gift for Christmas and have not been able to use it yet. It doesn't work for me but works for my husband. I need to shake the machine to get it started and it only works for a few seconds. We called Nordic Track's customer service and they said it "had to be the read switch". So after a week I received a new read switch in the mail (no, they did not send it quickly to me!). My husband just replaced the read switch last night and it still does not work. We are having the same issues and more now. Now after using it for 30 seconds it said he went a mile with 5,820 RPM's. I called customer service this morning and they said it "had to be the console" and are going to send me a new one. However, they are out of stock and have no idea when they will be in. I saw another review on here where someone has already been waiting a month for one. Nordic Track's customer service was awful and they person and her supervisor were both rude and said they couldn't do anything for me,......

dgbehrends says "Terrible noise coming from the main upright shaft" about ProForm XP Elliptical, XP 130

We've had our proform xp 130 for about 8 years. In that time it has gotten very little use. When we did use it, there was a loud metal on metal squeeking/grinding noise coming from the main shaft. We recently decided to dust it off and use it regularly, however the squeeking/grinding sound is extremely annoying. I've diagnosed it to be the main shaft in the front of the elliptical. It is a two piece shaft with three large bolts holding the two pieces tight. The noise comes from these two pieces grinding together when there is a slight back and forth motion on the elliptical. I've tried lubricating, tighting, loosing, and everything else to get the sound to stop, but it doesn't If I'm really carefull and avoid any side to side motion I can minimize the noise but this is nearly impossible while trying to get my heartrate up. The design is flawed in my opinion. The only thing I can think of is inserting a rubber gasket in between these two shafts where the metal meets metal. ...
...

My husband and I purchased this Elliptical last Sunday at Sears. We had to travel about 45 minutes to get to the store. Even though Sears.com stated the machine was in stock, it was not. We still purchased the machine and had to wait till Friday to go back and pick it up. Assembly began Friday night and when it was time to put the foot petals on, they just weren't the right ones... So I called Sears and all they could do for me was transfer me to Nordic Track. Nordic Track is going to send replacement petals to us, but they won't be in until next Friday. I am very disappointed that I had to wait for the machine to be stock and now I have to wait for the replacement parts. With no help from Sears or expedited shipping from Nordic Track, it seems neither company really cares about their customers. It will be at least 2 weeks before I can even get on the machine, however they had no problem taking my money right away....

My wife and I tried out several machines in the store and decided that this was in our budget. We just were unwilling to pay $800-1000+ on the others and this seemed like a good compromise. The E5.5 has a smooth motion and is mostly stable when using. The top of the unit does rock back and forth slightly when using and considering I'm nowhere near the weight limit (limit is 300lbs and I am 205lbs) that was the only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars.

There are a few things to remember when assembling. First, the box is large and heavy - you need a large SUV/pickup if you want to bring it home yourself. Next, the pieces are not labeled very well and you need to study them carefully and their correct assembly position. Also, there is some grease that can get extremely messy if you are not careful. Rubber gloves are a must when lubing the pivot shafts.

Overall, I a happy with the machine and it's features for the price.

This is a great piece of equipment. The nice wide pedals give you the ability to get comfortable. The display panel is easy to read and easy to use. It is well worth the money to have the premium delivery service with assembly. The overall weight of the system yould make it very difficult to move on your own and the 2 gentlemen who delivered mine knew exactly what they were doing because they had it assembled and ready to use in about 30 minutes. There is plenty of resistance at the higher levels so if you want a good sweat and that nice burning sensation in your legs this is the machine. Nearly 6 months of use so far between me and my wife and we love it. I would buy this piece of equipment again.
...
