bella10 says "Less work, more leisure time - happy days are here again" about craftsman pressure washer- 2800 PSI max pressure washer Model No. 580-752620

This was one of the best purchases we have ever made. As we live in a very shady area, our brick walks and patio are in constant need of cleaning. The job usually requires 5 hours of bleaching and scrubbing.

This year we decided, enough is enough, so after researching all of the craftsmen pressure washers and reading many pros and cons, we felt that this particular model was the one best suited to our needs.

It does all we expected of it. We cut our cleaning time to one hour and now it doesn't seem so much of a chore as it once did.

drummer1 says "5 GAL CLEAN 'N CARRY: Love it!" about Craftsman Shop Vacuum

The only down side of the Craftsman Clean'N Carry 5 gallon shop vacuum is the storage container. It does not always want to stay closed and can be awkward to open. I enjoy the hanging option that keeps it off the floor and the 22 feet of hose. Enough so that I bought two, one for the workshop side of my garage and one for the garage itself. The storage basket does not allow for additional accessories. It works great and the long hose option is great. I have even used a third section from the other vac for nearly 30 feet of use....

I received a furance tune up coupon from Sear on Sept. 28th. I have had no luck gitting Sears to send someone to do the work. I've been calling for a month. 3 times your people told me appointments had been made but nobody called or showed up.

I have spoken to 20 of your nitwits at 20 different 800 lines and still no results. I kept a record of each call, each promise and each failure of Sears to help.

The last gal I spoke to told me to go look in the Yellow Pages, she was a real dope, her name is Wanda.

Check your computor records for ph. # 781-749-0474. you see most of what I have been through.

Now the same BS is happening thru emails.
...

sydsym says "Disappointment with Sears Repair Service" about Sears Repair Services

For over a month I've been trying to get a Whirlpool undercabinet microwave serviced and for the first appointment my husband took off a full day of work only to have the service department call AFTER 5:00 pm to tell us that no one would be coming due to the repairman being too busy. The second appointment today the repairman comes just after 8 am to look at the microwave and then tell us he doesn't have the part and it would have to be ordered. But of course we have to pay for the diagnostics and part now. So now we have a THIRD appointment to have the microwave fixed. He even had the nerve to be surprised that the microwave was stainless steel. I do not understand how if you provide them with a make and model number and know what is wrong with your appliance that they just can't order the part and bring it with them. Especially something as simple as replacing a broken handle on a microwave. If my husband could have done it himself believe me he would have. However apparently...
...

We had our fridge repaired and a part was on back order for over two months. The parts department and the repair man lacked communication and it took me three weeks of making phone calls to discover the problem. I thought we were paying for the service to correct the issue not have to be the problem solver. I am used to Sears stepping up to the plate and doing on outstanding job but this experience's was less then satisfactory. We were without the use of the fridge for over a month from the first time the service man entered our house. I have two teenage boys and this was a huge problem. Sears did return the payment for the parts but we paid for the service. I would have liked to have seen Sears customer service not what we recieved.

Borgie says "Our Kenmore water softener saves us so much time!" about Kenmore KM Softener Salt

My husband and I recently purchased a Kenmore Water Softener from Sears. After a month of filtering the water in our home we are amazed that we could have ever survived without the softener! Previously, we knew our city provided water was hard but we didn't realize just how hard until after we installed the softener.

I used to have to clean my wedding ring every day with a toothbrush because washing my hands throughout the day left buildup that inibited the diamond's sparkle. Since we installed the Softener I haven't needed to "brush" my ring once - just having soft water keeps in clean and shimmering!

We've also noticed that the softener stripped our appliances and fixtures of the soap scum that had built up while our water was still hard. Cleaning the bathroom and kitchen have been much easier, saving us so much time. Our dishes no longer come out of the dishwasher spotty and we're saving money every day by not having to purchase fabric softener. All the minutes we used to...
...

Vinyl siding, sofat and fachia for home. High pressure Salesmen don't listen when you say I need to compare, its either sign to get discount or forget it. Never have it done during winter, regardless of what they say. Gets dirty fast and you need to clean it almost daily or weekly at the outset. Attracts more bugs than usual. Smudges need to be cleaned with WD40 and when it is up high how do you get to it. Clean up crew did not remove all marks and smudges they made so it just sits there dirty. Some follow up was good but never completely. Gaps in the fascia for bugs and rain to gather which will eventually rot out the wood underneath. Water fills the fascia and runs out the area where last connected. If you have a gravel driveway, nails get imbedded and at some point you end up with a flat tire because it was missed in clean up. Tell a salesman that you just want to get the estimate to see what it would cost and you can't get rid of them, even when you tell them you just...
...

12-gallon shop vacuum model 9-17765 is compact and fits better under vehicles than the larger 16-gallon unit. It has good suction when filter is clean but filter clogs easily and is difficult to get really clean. I suspect the airflow swirl pattern inside the canister is not as well engineered as my older 16-gallon shop vacuum (also a Sears unit). I have an idea how to improve it using a flow diverter but haven't tested that modification yet. Red stripe filter has no wire mesh or other support structure to keep rubber end sealing rings apart; when wet, filter media tends to buckle if end cap is tight. Red stripe filter is, in my opinion, overpriced so I am loath to replace it a often as Sears would like. Plastic handles on top deck don't lock onto canister portion as well as older unit either. Hose latch is handy improvement to keep hose from detaching when you pull vacuum around the shop using the hose (not recommended but a common practice).
...

With one load of laundry being in the washer and another one already in the dryer, I faced an unpleasant surprise, when my 8 years old Kenmore dryer suddenly stopped generating the heat. I immediately called Sears, and in the evening of the same day the technician came out to repair it. It took him about 20 minutes total to diagnose and fix the problem. In addition the technician performed the recommended maintenance on the dryer. I was also suggested to buy the warranty for $193 that would cover the dryer for 1 year up to $500 per problem. Which I did, otherwise I would have paid over $200 only for this visit. Time and money vise it worked out perfectly.
...

I can't say enough about my Craftsman Shop Vac. It's used constantly in the garage, whether to suck up water that got in or to vacuum up the mud/dirt/dust that me or the kids dragged through the garage and out onto the deck! It's very easy to use. It comes with several attachments, and we use every one. There's one for water, one for "regular" vacuuming, but the one we use the most is the smaller attachment, which makes cleaning our vehicles out a breeze! Remember to remove the filter when you are sucking up any water or damp material. That is all you need to remember. It is definitely worth purchasing! I plan on buying my son the smaller Shop Vac for his dorm room next year. I figure if the large one can handle a messy family, the smaller Shop Vac should be able to keep up with 4 teenage boys crammed in a dorm!
...

I tried calling 1-800-4-MYHOME to schedule repair service on a Kenmore washing machine. My local yellow pages has a large ad for Sears appliance repair which says they offer Saturday and evening appointments as well as weekdays in 4-hour windows. I spoke with two different operators over the phone and was told each time that in my area they only offer Monday, Wednesday, and Friday appointments from 9-5 in 8-hour windows. I can arrange to be at home to meet a repairman on most Tuesdays and Thursdays, but given my work schedule it's not at all possible on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and really who could take off an entire 8-hour day to sit at home waiting for someone to arrive? Besides, the next available appointment is WEEKS away. A rather useless service all-in-all. Thanks Sears.

I can not get the temperature to regulate at all. I have had a warranty on this system since 1990. When I called for emergency service to get my thermostat replaced which is covered under the warranty I was told I would have to wait for 6 days before a tech could get to my location. When I spoke with the manager on call who went by the name of Thomas he told me he could not get anyone from the HVAC emergency call on the phone. Then told me I would have to call back tomorrow. All the while I heard people laughing in the background. I will never purchase another item or warranty from sears for as long as I live.
...

I had a refrigerator that needed service and it was almost out of warranty. I have heard many horror stories about having something that needs service and not getting the service needed/ not getting service before the warranty is up/ having a lemon, etc. But this was not the case with me. The service man arrived on time and looked at my refrigerator. He figured out the problem in about 5 minutes and was on the way to having it fixed, until.... the part he needed to fix it was broken! BUT within an hour he met another service man with the part he needed, brought it back to my house and fixed my fridge! I couldn't believe how fast and professional the service I received was. I wasn't even upset anymore that my fridge broke in the first place! Sears has great service!
...

I purchased the 88830 and out of the box it was defective, the "Single Hand Operation" feature was installed improperly causing the auger to run constantly, the only way to stop the auger was to shut off the engine. No way was this overlooked, this was a serious safety issue, the snow thrower must have never been checked for proper operation, is quality control a thing of the past? The problem was a cross threaded bolt but my concern is that while this feature sounds nice, on failure the auger will continue to run rather than fail to run, a much safer situation.

The next problem was the "4-way Joystick Chute Control", it took both hands to operate the chute from the joystick, a common problem I later learned. I found it easier to hold the release button and then manually move the chute.

I was concerned prior to purchase on who made the "Craftsman" engine, one salesman swore it was a Briggs & Stratton, another said MTD, another was unsure who but was positive it was made in the U.S. ...
...

We have a Kenmore brand refrigerator purchased 21 years ago from Sears. At the time of the purchase, it was one of the better refrigerators in the Kenmore line, with frost-free freezer ice-maker, and decorative front panel purchased at extra cost. We were willing to pay more to get the style and size of refrigerator we wanted with the features we thought important to have.

We added this refrigerator to our Blanket Warranty we have had for years with Sears, as we have always felt it was a good idea to have all future repairs taken care of without concern about the cost. The warranty we have is the most expensive one, but we have maintained it for all these years in order to be protected from expensive repairs and to have the product replaced without worry if needed. Once again, we thought the extra cost was worth it.

Now we have had a refrigerator repairman out several times (more than the 4 that the warranty stipulates!) and it was finally declared un-repairable. We were told...
...

My 5 year old Whirpool refrigerator stopped working. I had to wait 4 days for them to come out and repair it. The repair man came yesterday he was very nice and appeared to solve the problem. I bought groceries to stock my refrigerator and this morning again my refrigerator is out. All Sears had to offer was, "We can come out in 5 days", when I told them this was unacceptable since they should have fixed my refrigerator yesterday the supervisor said "have a nice day" and hung up.

I have bought all my appliances at Sears and was planning to buy my dishwasher there as well, but now that I know that this is how they treat you when things break down, I'll make my future purchases else where.
...

MDchris says "Water expansion tanks are defective." about Kenmore water heater expansion tank

The Kenmore water heater expansion tank only has a 30 day warranty. Becareful, our unit rusted from the inside and created a hole in tank which sprayed and flooded our basement. The unit was installed with our new water heater one year ago. Though the water heater was covered under a one year warranty the expansion tank is not. The other disappointment is Sears can not replace the expansion tank, so don't bother calling them. If you ask Sears repairs and service to come out, they will hit you with a service bill and inform you that a licensed plumber has to replace the unit. The Sears repairman that visit our home narrowed it down to "Your expansion tank is defective, but no longer covered under warranty".
...

TriciaL says "Sears Repair Services a major disappointment" about Sears Repair Services

Last year my Kenmore refrigerator decided to quit on me. Since I am a fairly new resident in my town, I didn't know who to call. I decided to call Sears Repair Services since it was a Kenmore brand. They told me it would be three days before the repairman could be scheduled. I told them to forget it. I called a local independent repairman who came out within an hour, suggested that the cost of repairing the unit would be expensive, and recommended that I buy an new one. He charged me $35. I had a new Energy Star refrigerator by the end of the day. I have recommended his services to others and look forward to contacting him again when I need appliance repairs. When your refrigerator goes out, you need immediate service -- not three days from now. What do they expect for me to do with a refrigerator full of food for the next three days? While I happily buy appliances from Sears, I will not call them for service.
...
