Craftsman Professional 10000 Generator - Has performed flawlessly. Will run the entire house during power failure. Has been a life saver with regard to heat and comfort during prolonged outages. Starts without fail and is a breeze to operate and maintain. A bargin when you consider the benefits. We use it for emergencies only and it has never let us down. Just keep the fuel fresh and the spark plug clean and you can rest assured that it will start on command. I find the unit to be no more noisy than any other unit of this size. I highl recommend this generator. The Robin engine is on par with any Honda engine in this range. (18 hp)
...

I live in an area that loses power alot. I have the unit hooked up to my boiler, water pump, fridge, some lights, pellet stove, and microwave. The unit works every time. I decided to upgrade my unit with some larger propane tanks for a longer lasting time. I like the idea of the manual transfer switch because it wont waste the propane when were not home. I taught my wife how to turn on the unit and switch the power over. Very happy with product....

back in the mid 90s I bought a smaller unit and shure enfough, we got a big blizard in fact the biggest blizaed I have ever seen in Ga. The 7 kw unit provided power for my home for three weeks. I found out durning this time of prolonged use, it was cheeper to power my home with it than using the main elect grid. I used the 7kw unit for 15 years along with three solar kits on the backside of my home and saved thousands of dollars in powers bills. I upgraded to this larger Unit and do hope it works for many years to come just as the other one did. It does use the same fuel and yield twice the power. I do look to save even more. I will neevr use the main grid again...

Power went out for three weeks after the storm and the gen worked great, we ran the whole house off it with no problems. After the power came back up in a little more than three weeks I discovered it was cheeper to run the house off this generator than using the main grid. The savings have paid for the natural gas powered generator 20 times over and were still saving money. Thanks sears...

irq3 says "Where's the Battery, Briggs?" about Briggs & Stratton 10,000 Watt Home Generator

The new style EM10 automatic 10 kW (a.k.a. 40243) is my second Briggs compact generator (upgrading from a 7kW). I am very disappointed with this model. First off, I was expecting a battery to be included. According to the Briggs website, it should have been included. They are advertising no hidden costs (turnkey extras). After a few phone calls, I found out that Briggs is not including batteries anymore. Their reasoning was that no other manufacturers include batteries so why should they? They even went as far as to change the owner's manuals indicating it is the installers responsibility -All this to save a few bucks. It ended up costing me about an additional hundred dollars to purchase a battery and have it shipped (25 lbs). I purchased a Power-Sonic PS12350-NB. I choose Power-Sonic because of their good reputation and warranty. There are other brands out there too. The battery needs to be a sealed lead acid, at least 33 Amp-hours, with nut and bolt terminals. For the price I paid for......

I had a portable generator for a few years. I wanted to upgrade to something that would power most of my house, but didn't want to deal with gasoline. Also, I don't have piped in natural gas. So, I liked the idea of this unit that has 7,000 watts and runs on standard 20# propane tanks. You can also connect this to piped in natural gas or large propane tanks if you have that.

The unit seems to be very good quality for the price. It has a pad attached, and a nice weatherproof exterior housing that is insulated. The engine seems to be good quality. Also, some nice extras like battery starter, oil filter, and large muffler.

It also has a small footprint. Only 24" x 30". And the height is about 28". So, you get a lot of power in a small box compared to those large rectangular whole house units you are use to seeing. Also, the unit looks like an A/C compressor or swimming pool heat pump. So, it blends in nicely. Most people would not even know it is a generator. This is good, because I live......

Our county has electric outages at all different times of the whole year. I bought this last August, and in November, 3 days of no power, but I did have the generator that saved food in freezer and refrig, the furnace worked (and the central air is hooked up too, so in the summer that will work also).
On December 23, 24 heavy snow fell and again lights, freezer, refrig, heat and all I did was flip the switch from indoors and Power.
It is hooked up to my LP gas tank, and all I needed was the propane company run a gas line from tank to the generator, plus an electrician to add to the new panel. "Simple Installation" electrician said.
I bought online and it was shipped on time with all that was needed, (maybe some wire but what electrician don't have wire).
Great product and attractive in the yard, low maintenance, recommend this highly. I am a Sears fan (but I do shop at their competitors before I purchase) and always will....
