For the price, this snowthrower is a great value. Smaller clearing path makes it an excellent fit in my smaller driveway between cars. Engine starts right up and runs smooth and rather quiet compared to other snow blowers I have owned. Overall this is a definite keeper and earns its keep during those winter months.
...

If not stored exactly as recommended in owners manual, it will not run at all the next season. Whats not mentioned in the owners manual is that it is impossible to drain all the gasoline from the engine at the end of the season, and what is left will clog everything. Causing it not to start. Unless you like the smell of gas in your garage the entire winter and gas on your clothes leave this machine alone. If you alraedy purchased it, good luck next year on getting this heap started.
...

Bought this snow blower in Jan of 2011 after getting hit with a few different snow storms during that record breaking winter season. I was debating whether to buy a single stage blower or to pony up the extra money to get a 2-stage. My fear was that the single stage might not be powerful enough when we get large or wet snowfalls.

I am thrilled that I decided to purchase this single stage snow thrower. It has one of the more powerful engines out there and the fact that you don't need to worry about mixing oil/gas makes it convenient. This machine had all the power I've needed so far to throw deep & wet snow a solid 20'. And it hasn't clogged once! The electric start is a nice feature too.

So far I've used it on 4" of fluffy powder, 10" of wet/heavy snow and then again whey trying to clean up other areas that included 18" of wet/heavy snow. It's been able to easily handle all of the situations, but with the 18" stuff it would require going back and forth a couple of times and some tilting/rocking....
...

This gas snow blower might work for those that receive only 2 to 3 inches of snow per snowfall. Living in South Dakota, I shouldn't have tried this snow blower in the first place. Since Sears did not have their $599 best buy model and any other models in the $600 too $800 range in stock, I decided to give this a try. In my first opinion, I thought this blower was very cheaply built with plastic parts. Started just fine with electric start. When I tried it on some powdery 2" snow area, it cleaned it nicely. But when I tried it on about 6 inches of snow, it just wouldn't move a bit and I had to push so hard to move forward. Also, this machine didn't do a thing when I tried to remove the snow that gets shoved in the driveway entrance by the plow truck. To be honest, my Toro 1800 electric snow thrower did a much better job than this junk machine. Also, this machine is way louder compared to powerful snow blowers and vibrated quite a bit (everything was assembled by sears when I brought...
...

I've owned this for one full winter and am halfway through winter number two. I've got several issues. 1. the electric start gears sheared off and stripped so the electric start doesn't work, 2. the pull cord rubs where it goes into it's housing and eventually frays and breaks, 3. the unit plugs constantly (even with dry snow) and 4. it doesn't throw snow very far.

At the beginning of this winter the electric start (where it mates up with the flywheel) sheared off the teeth. I didn't think this was a big deal since I figured I could just use my pull cord to get me by until spring. That way I wouldn't have to have it in the shop for a few weeks during the main snow season. What I didn't realize was the pull cord was rubbing where it goes into it's housing. It frayed and broke the first time I used it so I couldn't start the thrower with either the electric start or with the pull cord. I was halfway done with clearing 10" of snow off my drive when this happened.

I replaced the cord (from...
...

This snowblower is a significant time-saver. My driveway would take forever to do by hand. It has an electric start but after priming it you can pull once on the pull cord and it fires right up, so I haven't even had to use that feature yet.

It easily rips through snow pack that is up to the top of the intake. It uses very little gas to run it as well, I filled the tank up once and it lasted all winter.

I do wish the chute was made out of metal because that is the one part I see needing to be replaced with heavy ice and snow eventually damaging it. Otherwise the rest of the blower is metal and is well built.
...

This was the first snowblower I've ever purchased, and I wasn't sure what to get when I was shopping. I decided on the two-stage because I wanted something substantial and didn't want to mix gas and oil. With this winter's storms, I was able to use it several times on snowfalls ranging from 6" to 24" and it worked like a champ in all cases. It was easily able to clear wet snow, frozen snow, powdery snow, and chunks of ice. It was relatively easy to assemble and after these uses, still looks new. My only complaint is that the chute is made of plastic. I am concerned about its durability - the rest of the snowblower is quality metal parts.
...

This winter started out with a very rough December in Des Moines, and I decided to retire my old 5hp Craftsman 2 stage blower. I purchased a new Craftsman Model# 88957 and got it home just in time for another big snow. Des Moines has had it's 2 largest snowfall in recorded history and I put this baby to use. I had read some of the reviews that said this blower lacked power, and bogged down. I don't know what they were talking about, maybe they had left the snow go too long or something else. I dug right into a 12" snow with drifts 24" deep and made quick work of my drive. I might also add that I have a 45 degree angle drive up to the garage with a 12' rise. Not fun at all in the winter. My old blower had chains on it and still struggled to move up the hill when blowing. These new designed tires dug in and pulled up the hill in an excellent mannor. I've VERY hard to please with equipment, period. I found the blower, after I adjusted the depth stops a little bit, cleaned down to...
...

This Snowthrower is very easy to start. I didn't even have to use the electric start. It starts right up with a easy pull on the pull cord. I had to adjust the height of the skids lower from the factory settings because it was leaving about a 1/2 inch of snow on the cement pavement. That is very easy to do. You just need a socket wrench. I had to leave the wheel's in the locked position for better traction. Even with 2 wheel traction sometimes the wheels spin. I'm going to see if chains are available. I think with chains the traction will be much better. The only thing that I'm not to happy with is the Discharge Chute. It's made out of plastic and I feel it's not as strong as the rest of the machine & maybe down the road it may break. OVERALL THIS IS NICE POWERFULL EASY TO USE MACHINE. I'M VERY HAPPY WITH IT.
...
