This is a nice little Tiller. I bought it so the wife could cultivate her own garden. This was easy top assemble and worked very well. There is alot of space between the handles to keep the perosn from slouchng while tilling. Has a belt clip that you can attach the cord on so when your tilling, it doesnt get tore up.

Keep in mind this isnt a gas powered tiller so you dont have the type of speed to go through the garden so it does take time. But in a sunny day does it matter? My wife loves it and is excited to be able to take care of her garden all by herself without a man to help her with the cultivating.

mvlamorgan says "Good Tiller at a Great Price" about Craftsman Front Tine Tiller-CA Model

I have read a couple of the previous reviews and it comes down to the tale of two tillers. If you treat the equipment with respect and READ THE MANUAL, your experience with this tiller should be a productive one. If you treat the machine like a big slug of metal that can only be fixed by taking a two pound sledge to it, you will probably end up with a useless hunk of metal. I have tilled a 20x20, 20x 80, and a 30x30 plots of land to minimze the weeds. No problems experienced! I followed the recommendations of other reviews and filled the tiller with fresh gas and oil, then primed the engine with the engine switched off and pulled the cord a dozen times to circulate the oil. Switched on and opened choke - started on the first pull. Let it run for a while, setting and releasing the clutch a few times. When I'm done for the day, I alway leave it running and switch the fuel off to let the engine run dry. I already changed the oil once to get any metal filings out of the engine. My only other...
...

mamintxk says "The craftsman tiller has really simplifed our time in the yard! " about Craftsman Front Tine Tiller-CA Model

We bought the last one our local Sears store had. It must have been the floor model, because the gas lines had to be tightened and the gas cap replaced. We still don't have the owners manuel they said we'd be mailed. But other than these few things it has really helped in our efforts to move the dirt around in our yard to help fix drainage issues. I would have to say this product is a good buy for loosening the ground for any type of project you might be undertaking. It is easy to start and to move around during opperating.
...

Mrexter says "Rototiller is GREAT!" about Craftsman 14 In. Rear Tine Tiller

This tiller is GREAT! It is very quite and shifts very easily. It eats through hard dirt like it is nothing. I have read other posts that say it shifts hard. This is NOT TRUE!! This tiller shifts very smooth and easily. Starts on the first pull.

The shear pins work great and they are supposed to. Very easy to replace. I picked up a large rock and sheared off the pin. Went back to Sears and bought a pack and very easily replaced the broken one. Machine not damaged in the least and works great. I would recommend buying a pack when you buy the tiller.

Overall, I would highly recommend this tiller.
...

surfscbreak says "poor manufacturing, oil leak, gas leak, belt slip, poor instruct" about Craftsman 9 Torque Rating Front Tine Tiller

don't buy this tiller very unreliable with very limited instructions that aren't very clear. I bought one and used it a few times and it all the sudden wouldn't start. I tried everything checked the oil drained it to make sure I had the exact amount specified. I tried different choke and drive settings nothing. I then opened the filter noticed oil leaking from the air filter all over!! ahh cleaned it up and tried pulling the started another 150 times, nothing. I exchanged it and got another. ran it a few times same deal, oil came out the air filter even know I had the right measured level. I then noticed gas leaking out the carb and the air filter clogging it into a mess cleaned it up. I did not run this thing hard at all either I even let it run between on and off tilling needless to say this tiller is junk, I even noticed manufacturing flaws when adjusting the belt from coming off which was also an issue but an easy fix with adjusting, there were missing bolts to hold the belt housing...
...

deadeye52 says "It's been dependable for Me." about Craftsman Cultivator Attachment

I bought this attachment in the Summer of 2007. I took it out of the box and attached it to my 32cc Craftsman String Trimmer. The tines did not turn. I took it back to the store and found out it was defective. The store took it back and gave me a new one. Hooked that one up and have tilled anything and everything. I have tilled a 16' by 30' garden (4 times a year since purchase) with this attachment and never had any problems- as I have read on other reviews. When tilling through weeds or any grassy matter it will clog the tines from turning but all you have to do is remove the matter. You cannot manhandled the attachment as it is intended for light duty to moderate duty applications. I grease the tine attachement's periodically and clean the attachment after every use. I have used this tiller for approximately 40 hours since I bought it.

As I have said on other reviews, use it with a little care and consideration and it will do the job it was built for.
...

Series900 says "Craftsman 900 series front tine tiller" about Craftsman 9 Torque Rating Front Tine Tiller

I bought this tiller on 4-3-08, tilled a 20'x24' established garden that spring. Used it the second time in the fall. It is now 5-3-09 and used it for the third time. After cleaning it, I noticed a 4-5" crack in the bottom of the gear box. I called the local store to discuss the issue, the manager said bring it down and we'll take care of it. Once at the store, he looked it up on his computer to see when I purchased it. He informed me that it was out of warranty and sears would not honor a repair outside of the warranty period. It was only 30 days over, that did not matter. A new gear box is $170 or half the price of a new tiller, this does not include labor. If I wanted to have their service guy look at it, it would be transported to Michigan from Warsaw, Indiana for $29. To me $29 dollars wasn't bad if I could only talk to the service guy. The manager of the store, arguing on the side of sears had said, and I quote, "you must have hit a ROCK". Now think about it tillers...
...

Aardvark says "EZ-Start is CRAP" about Craftsman Gas Mini-Tiller/Edger

I've had this machine (Craftsman Gas Mini-Tiller/Edger) for 4 years and have a small garden.

First year (brand-new, out of the box), started great. Probably started 2 or 3 times after refilling gas with zero problems expected or encountered.

Second year, EZ-Start would not catch. No way to start, almost chucked it.

Third year, thought I would give it a try, EZ-Start worked first time !?!?!?!

This year, I'm back to frustration. Will try using hammer until it either works or is destroyed.

Back in the "Day", Craftsman was a name you could ALWAYS trust. I have lots of Craftsman hand-tools, but will shop elsewhere for small power tools.

Sears, I leave you with two words: "Montgomery Ward". Start making things well, not cheap. I can't afford cheap. And I will shop elsewhere.
...
