Nice piece of equipment. Will be great for the homeowner or the semi professional lawn care people. Tires on it are a bit small and are much smaller than in the picture in the ad. Also has no way to strap weights to the tray, you have to come up with some way to keep weights from bouncing off. Took longer than expected to assemble..2 to 3 hours! All in all, a good bargain for a quality tool.

It worked better after a put a handle on it and pushed it around my yard. My yard was not big enough to pull it around with my rider. If you add weight it pulls good size plugs from your yard and ground cant be too dry. Went together easy. One bad thing is to store it can be tough. The sharp points are not safe if you have kids around.

would recomment this item to any one considering it is easy to change all of the attachments with just two clicks, and all of the attachment from Agri-Fab work great and can be changed quickley., with easy.

It took me about 1.5 hrs to assemble, but I am slow. Even then I confused one 1 1/4" bolt with a 1" bolt. Otherwise, all went together just as the instuctions laid out. There were a couple extra pieces (two washers and two nuts) which spawned some confuson, but after detailed review I realized that, indeed, they were "extras". Only assembly concern is taking great care when handiling or around the actual spikes. They are sharp.

Placed a couple of bags of Sakrete on the platform and went to work. Man, this thing does just what is advertised. Works great. Very solid piecce of equipment. Should last a long time. Very happy customer here.

My next step is to hook it to my tractor rather than pull it around by hand. (Ha, Ha).

I thought about buying the unit that mounts to the front of my tractor so that I can bag the thatch with the mower as soon as it is lifted. However, after reading the reviews on that unit and afraid that I could damage my lawn and my tractor with the front mount unit, I determined that I should stick with the standard rear unit. This unit is great. All the pieces are sturdy. Assembly was a bit of a challenge by myself. Sometimes, nuts and bolts had to be joined in awkward, hard-to-access places. I assembled it on old pieces of carpet, that way I didn't scratch it up. Instructions state to not tighten nuts in the beginning, but I found that sometimes I had to tighten them before instructed in order to keep the unit together during assembly. Also, instructions say you need pliers for assembly, but I never needed them. I guess pliers are needed if you want to curl even further at the ends the safety wire that runs through the tines. Got my lawn dethatched this fall with this. An added benefit I didn't expect is that it also helps control grasses that grow horizontally by making them stand up so you can cut them with your mower. In actual usage, it was a bit challenging to use.

You need to add weight to make it work effectively. Initially, I used 2 or 3 average size logs (much less weight than the suggested concrete), and when I started, it began de-lawning, not just de-thatching. In other words, it was pulling out good grass- damaging the lawn. I quickly discovered this, so it was not a disaster. The only effective way I found to control this (and the rapid build-up of thatch/grass on the tines which makes lawn removal more likely), is to keep a hand on the handle and vary the pressure regularly by pulling and shaking it. Doing this over an acre plus of lawn was more physically demanding than I expected and it was awkward at best to twist the spine while driving a tractor. I was mildly sore the next...

The Craftsman Aerator worked flawlessly. It was easy to assemble. I used two #60 bags of sand with a soft soil and it had good penetration. Read instructions and follow them for best results. A landscaper wanted over $600.00 to aerate and seed my lawn,I did it for under $300.00 This should pay for itself in no time.

I bought this aerator two weeks ago, assembled it in about an hour and had the lawn aerated before the afternoon was over. It was pretty easily assembled and all the components seem to be of high quality.

Be prepared to inflate the tires, but other than that, after some reasonably simple assembly, it was ready to roll. The tray fits standard concrete blocks for additional weight. I used 4 and had no problem penetrating the soil.

As would be expected, the spikes are very sharp, so care needs to be taken during assembly and storage of equipment.

Now that I own it, I'll be aerating and overseeding every Fall.

I used to rent a motorized lawn aerator once a year to aerate the lawn. I decided to purchase the Craftsman lawn aerator and am glad I did. This unit pulls out cores of grass and soil identicle to the rented unit. It is well built operates great and should last a long time. I don't have the hassel of driving to the rental store to pickup and return the motorized aerator. Best of all I can now aerate anytime I want without the three hour rental limit and $60.00 charge. I would not reccomend buying this unassembled if you are not a handy person. I had to use my bench grinder to cut back the steel of the trailer tongue in order to make it fit. It was not cut correct from the manufacturer. The assembly is a bit time consuming due to the shotty instructions. Once assembled correctly it is made from a good size gauge of steel and worked great on my yard here in East TN....

Bought this last week and put it to the test on my two acres this weekend. All in all I was quite pleased with the results. I through about 100 extra pounds on the back and put in about two inch holes everywhere including over uneven terrain. For the price I could not ask for more, feels heavy duty enough and my neighbor is looking forward to giving it another workout this weekend. One con is the assembly though I would not call it a big one. Ws much easier to assemble with a second person. You need to flipe it several times and it certainly would have been much more difficult without some additional help - though I would say not impossible. Took me and a buddy about thirty minutes to complete the assembly and we were off and rolling from there. Overall I would recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive but strong tool to aerate the yard....

Assembly took me about an hour. Only complaint I have is what others have mentioned--bottoms out on pavement if any weight is added. This could be a major pain if your yard sections are separated by pavement. Me, I can reach every corner of mine without crossing pavement. So, I suppose the big question is whether added weight is really necessary. I have very hard, neglected clay soil and so I experimented with various weights. First, I added 2-8X16X12 hollow blocks and ratchet-strapped them in place. This gave me at best about 2in. of penitration with the aerator. Then, I doubled the weight by adding two more blocks. Penitration was deeper but then I started having trouble climbing hills with my 21hp lawn tractor. I didn't have enough power to pull the extra weight. I would say, if you have a flat lawn and hard soil, this should work for you with a medium powered tractor/mower. If you have any hills or mounds, 21hp is minimum necessary to use this device. I used this aerator twice with 60 lbs of weight and the frame is all bent out of shape. I will have to re-enforce the front with a piece of 1 1/2 inch angle iron If I want to continue using it.

Should have bought a different brand. :(
