BillyBobJr says "I'm lucky" about Craftsman Mandrel 4-Bolt Kit

Only had to replace twice so far in 1 year of hard work. That on top of one new deck and 2 front wheels and 2 steering arms. I have to replace the blades about every 2 - 3 cuts because they bend so easily. Everywhere where the metal is stressed I have had to replace. I guess if I had an absolutely level yard and only ran in second gear I would be fine. But, as soon as you stress these a little, they are truly worthless. Spend more time fixing (especially leveling the deck) than anything else. The rest of the tractor is perfect including the engine tranny etc. But, the metal is pure trash....

I would say that this saves you money for not having to pay a serviceman to replace this for you. However, this is quite expensive compared to how cheap I can car or truck oil filters for from brand name companies. I am a little dissappointed that these are not cheaper considering how basic of a design this part has (just on a slightly smaller scale).
...

I recently changed the oil & filter on my 1998 Craftsman lawn tractor. Thanks to the new oil and oil filter my tractor is now running better than ever!

I use my tractor to mow the lawn and to pick up leaves in the fall with the leaf picker attachment.

The Craftsman parts are great!
...

Sears tractor cover is a relatively sloppy fit, and the elastic pulls so tight it gets caught on edge and corner. Doesn't really cover the cutting blades and definitely does not cover the two grass catchers. I have covers for 5 vehicles, an ATV, and a generator, and this is the first time I've been disappointed.
...

I found this item on sale while searching for a new tire for my lawn tractor. The sale price was cheaper than the tire alone was selling for. My only disapointment was finding out that the bearing bushings were made of plastic, and they had to be installed backwards to the instructions to achieve the right offset for my tractor. But that was no big deal. If I want a more permanent bearing in the future I can always remount the tire on the original wheel. All-in-all a reasonable solution to a worn out lawn tractor tire for a good price. I would give it the full five stars if the bearing assembly instructions were clearer.
...

Skiierguy1 says "Mandrel Housing Screw- Should be packaged with Mandrel" about Outdoor Factory Parts Mandrel Housing Screw

The screws are self-threading and for use only with the mandrel housing for mower decks. Unfortunately, Sears packages and sells these separately from the mandrel housing. They should be included with the housing automatically. When I purchased the mandrel, I thought these would be included. Also, I did not see a pack of the screws separately near the mandrel housing packages. Not until I tried to install the new mandrel housing did I discover that I could not re-use the old screws (besides, one had broken off during removal), , you could not substitute machine bolts, and that these were specialty screws that could not be found elsewhere. I probably spent several hours searching for these at other Sears and hardware stores. Only upon returning several days later to the original Sears store that I bought the mandrel housing from did I see a peg with the screw packages...several feet away from where the mandrel housings were.

Sears, PLEASE just add the screws to the box and charge the extra...
...
