I purchased the 46 inch Hydrostatic mower. It was on sale for the same price of the 42" and I also bought the 2 bagger system and the mulching blades. The mulching blades were the best purchase because the bagger is not a very high quality in my opinion. After having a 20 year old powercraft with metal rimmed bags, this bagger (all plastic) is not going to last. Mower has a tight turning radius and has plenty of power to pull my aereator. Has a few rattles because the hood has no latches but so far the mower has been great! The only con is reverse mowing where you have to turn the key to backup. A "safety" feature that I'm sure all the new mowers have. Probably a government requirement. Oil changes are easy with the tube.

After years of trying to convince my husband that we needed a riding lawn mower for our little place on the lake, I finally took the bull by the horns and got one for his birthday. Not the biggest Sears has to offer; however, large enough to get the job done in less than half a day. Ray was so suprised. When the truck delivered the mower, our youngest son (21) was there and he even indicated he would mow the lawn with the new mower. Our grandson (16) is the real lawn person...he likes new things, discovering how they work and then getting the job done. He loves it! However, he is a heavy driver. Over 300 pounds and the seat doesn't like someone that large...something about when he sits he has to lean to one side to prevent something under the seat from doing something. I don't know, but he worked it out and away he went. It's so nice to see that our lawn can be mowed in an hour or so compared to half a day with the push mower. Thank you, Sears.

When purchasing the mower I was talked into purchasing a repair warranty. Mower is great but after limited use it would not start. Taking the mower in for service I was told it had to be "sent off" for repairs and that it would take "several weeks" for it to be returned. After more than a month news came that mower was ready to be picked up. If Sears is going to sell a repair warranty they should have a contract with a local repairer like other brands. How is lawn care going to be done when your mower is down for an extended period? I will not make this mistake again; I will search out another brand to purchase. Another problem with mower is the small gas tank; work is limited by the available fuel.

I took out a warranty on the Sears Craftsman 5.50 Torque Rating 22 in. Deck 2-n-1 Mulch-Side Discharge Push Lawn Mower because I knew it would be doing a lot of work and it did for some time. One day, it did not start and I could not pull the starter cord to its full length. I took it it to my dealer who told me that it would be repaired in a week. In the interim, I got a call that the flywheel was broken and I would need to pay $100 - in addition to warranty service already paid for - for the repair and that it would take longer. Confused, I asked around and did some research on my own. The flywheel mechanism is plastic and has a tendency to wear and snap. The mower does the job, but go easy.

The McLane 20 in. Cut Path Reel Mower cuts so good. It doesn't chew up and spit out the cuttings back in your lawn. You can easily adjust the mowing height and emptying out the cut grass is a cinch. Very easy to start too. You can also adjust the cutting blade to the reel as it wears out as you go. It's not for every kind of grass though. I use it on Bermuda and St. Augustine only...not recommended for Marathon or tall fescue type lawns. I haven't had to re-sharpen the reel and I've been using it for 3 years.

When my husband brought his new John Deere - self propelled mower w/ towing cart home, it was to help me out! At that time, I was doing most of the mowing w/our self propelled push mower but I was mowing about 1 acre and not flat at that!! Then we gave our horse to our granddaughter so that was even more lawn to mow, now we're up to about 1 3/4 acre w/ a small hill in the back, lots of trees, & a slopeing front yard! I was exhausted! Now, I had a new John Deere - self propelled mower w/ leaf basket, no more raking, and a cart for towing my gardening soil, pots or whatever around in. I was so happy. My sweet husband decides to give it a ride one day and to this day, I very rarely, if ever, mow our lawn or rake leaves. Our son came over and borrowed it and liked it so well he went to Sears and bought his own John Deere - self propelled lawn mower minus the leaf basket and cart, he still calls dad!! We've had it awhile now and it runs like new. Not one problem w/ it. Thank you John Deere...

The Craftsman Self-Propelled Mower that I have is the perfect mower! I love the high back wheels, front wheel drive, and mulching capabilities. I fell inlove with mulching the first time I ever used it! It's so much easier than mowing and then raking or mowing and emptying a bagger every couple of swipes. I also like how if you let go of the selp propel handle it stops going. It's perfect for turning corners and getting in and out of tight spaces easily and without tearing up your yard. This mower has everything I need and more!

I have owned my Craftsman, 42", riding mower for ten years and it has always given me great service. I hit a stump once and had to get new blades, but I adjusted the mower housing myself from the manual information. I would recommend to anyone getting a new riding mower to buy a Craftsman. There is great support both in the manual and online, as well as a store with parts right nearby. We also have Sears appliances in our home and they have lasted for years without needing repair, but when that occurs we always have online and local people to help us. Good work, Sears!

I researched numerous lawn tractors earlier this year. I spoke with friends, neighbors and colleagues to assess the value of the different models. I even tried a few out to see which ones handled the best. When all was said and done, the SEARS Craftsman 42" Lawn tractor stood out as one of the best values on the market.

It may not have been the most popular color, but it definitely cuts and saves the Green like nobody else. I have been very pleased with the performance over the past 6 months and find it extremely reliable, dependable and durable. These are three characteristics that seemed to be wanting from the various reports I read on the competition.

We had been using a lawn service for the past few years, but finally decided to do it ourselves. I highly recommend this make and model to anyone desiring to take care of their own lawn. I could not be happier.

The Limited Edition Front Wheel Drive walk behind 50 State Model is one of the best mowers I ever owned. The cut is great, the power is there for high grass cutting, and starts with no problem. When used in the mulching mode it also preforms well. Grass collection bag is easy on - easy off and has a good capacity. The mower is very quite and fuel efficient for being such a work horse. If there was one thing that I would add to this model it would be at least the ability for one slower speed, not a variable speed, on the drive end. I look forward to having many years of good service from this mower.

I was frustrated with my old mower that would start whenever the stars were perfectly aligned. I purchased this mower online and picked it up about a week later. From talking to the sears employee working when I picked up the mower, I found out that I could have picked it up the day I ordered it. I was supposed to receive a confirmation email when it was ready to be picked up... I never got one. I guess that's really my only complaint. I would recommend calling your pick-up location a few days after ordering to see if it's ready. Anyways... the mower was very easy to assemble (15-20 minutes), the cutting height was very easy to adjust, and it started on the first pull (Hallelujah!!!). I love the Craftsman Garden Tractor, model # GS 6500, except for a couple of oopses. First, the safety switch in the seat. I am not a heavy person, so I had trouble finding the right position for the seat and how to sit so that the thing would not shut off while in motion. Second, Have trouble keeping air in the tires. and Third. immediately after warranty runs out, the pully bracket literally broke. Otherwise it has been dependable and is a workhorse. I use it on my 4 acre farm, not only for mowing , but to haul feed and, like I said for the most part, I love it. Oh, I think I would put a little more room between the seat and console/steering wheel. I keep bumping my knees on the key in the ignition, bending them.

I purchasted this garden tractor (GDS 6500 now a DG 500) April of last year. At 2.5 hours the electric clutch locked up and I couldn't disengaged the blades. It took Sears about 2 monthsl to get it fixed. This clutch costs about $500.00 each. I also bought a disk harrow (which costs about $1000.00 with the lift) to cultivate a small area to plant seeds for my bees. The electric clutch quit working again this year witih 30 hours on the tractor. The tractor WILL NOT be capable of working a garden. The service is terrible. It takes about 2 months to get it fixed. It is a lawn mower. Not a garden tractor!! It wil not do as advertised.

When I first got this mower I loved it. It started easily and the speed was great for getting the lawn mowed quickly. After a month or two a vibration developed and began to shake the whole thing apart. The two screws that hold the motor cover on came off, one of the bolts in the muffler came out, I've tightened the torx bolts in the frame and have lost one. I got on the Sears website and looked up some troubleshooting tips. I was directed to replacing my blade. I did that and it helped a bit. I finally took it into the store when I bought it and the young man assured me that it was still under warranty and that they would call if there was any problem. I got the call and man was there a problem. They estimate the repair to be $142. The parts include a blade hub, blade, filter, belt, plug, oil seal, crank shaft and crankcase gasket. I've not yet spoken to the service center but I am really not happy with this bill. It seems that if you have a nicely manicured lawn and never put any stress...

Sorry to have waited so long to write this review. Model is the 917.376742. Bought at end of season, 2007 only because of electric starter and craftsman name. Took it back before the years warranty was up at the end of last season to get parts changed because the larger rear wheels tilted. Thought is was parts problem but after another season, wheels are titling again so it is a design problem. Front drive wheels are slipping, one stops spinning when going uphill gets just tad difficult forcing more back breaking than a power mower should.

Very disappointed with mower and of course craftsman. Have several products and never really had a problem until this piece of ****. My money would have been spent better rebuilding my Toro which was over 8 years old. The only thing I ever changed on my Toro was the blade and oil and wheels.

Craftsman 21inch self propelled mulcher w/ Honda 5.5 HP

Have had this for 2 years. Been the worst mower we've ever had. I had an older craftsman 22 push w/ briggs for 10 years mowing 2 large yards and a very large church yard for 4 of those years. Lasted forever, could cut through anything (w/ 3.75 hp). Got this to replace when other one finally died, have had engine rebuilt 2x by sears, first under warranty, second out of pocket. They changed oil after first year when they rebuilt it. After the second year I changed the oil.. this piece of **** took tons of my time trying to figure out how to drain the oil. Couldn't find a drain plug anywhere...looked in the manual after hours and turns out there isn't one. You have to turn it upside down to drain the oil out where you put it in. Now the last 3 times I have attempted to mow the .20 acre (maybe not that) yard with it only about 2 to 3 inches high, it acts like it has no power. Like the blades aren't turning very fast...

Have had this mower since September 2008 and have had nothing but problems with this mowers. First drive cable broke ant took abouth 3 months before cable came. Had to use vise grip in the mean time. Belts have been replaced 3 times. Get in thick grass and the belt starts smoking. Does not mulch that well. Leave a trail of grass on the right side of mower. Deck is broke now. Been down for a month. Service is a joke. Set up an appointment. This take a week before serviceman come out. Service man order parts. Take another week before parts comes in. Another week to get the service man back to put parts on. If the right parts are ordered the first time. You needs a reliable stand by during down time. Sears does not seems to care about this. This mower was not researched enough before been placed on the market. Engine has lot of power true is enough, but mowing component are not suited for this engine. Would not recommend this mower.

Some assembly is required but it is very easy. Very powerful Briggs and Stratton Engine (8.75 Torque), 6 speeds, mulch, bag, electric start, just about everything you need to take care of your lawn with the greatest of ease. The down fall to this mower is that the wingnuts for the front wheels are made out of plastic, so you may want to replace them with metal ones or just be careful. This will not impact the ability to cut. This is a very impressive mower.

The Craftsman Lawn Mower Cover fits like a glove. (33398) It is made out of a nylon material that is mildew and UV resistant for all weather protection. It closes in the back with snap together clip, and is very tight at the bottom for a snug fit. This cover will not blow away during transportation. The cover will also fit most types of Craftsman push mowers, I have two and it will fit them both. Good price point at $24.99, if you purchase a more expensive push mower this is the least you can do to protect your investment over the winter months or during transportation. Also the cover comes with a vented bag for storage when not in use. This is what took me by surprise, the Craftsman logo is not a patch, not a sticker, but it is embroidered on the cover. Overal this is a great value for the price.

Brought this Craftmen 37653 on July 13, 2008 after using four times and having the machine for one month the starter did not work any longer, I check the key if its open and the safety switch all ok. I knew the battery were in the rear botton left compartment I took the cover off, to my suprise the compartment was filled with wet grass clipping (compost, Manure) with the battery clip turn green and the acid ate the red clip and broke-off. The battery are not an a water proof compartment but just set there bare after each cut I used the water fitting to rinse the botton as told in the manual. I return the mower back and the saleman told me that the battery were on the middle handle in a case last year and did not understand why Craftmen put them below. After being a skilled trademan for thrity five years I was turn-off with Craftman to do a engineering change such as this. The Manager of Sears Depatment told me he will write a letter to the manufacturer. The rear wheel battery...
