I use the straight weight 30 in all my gas tools because I live in Houston so cold weather starting isn't and issue and the multi-wts eat oil more rapidly. Engines have liked it thus far with no oil consumption. Definately recommend this particular size because it's exactly how much oil my lawnmower needs. So buy this bottle and the 48 oz one and just reuse this one. I do the same for my 4-stroke weedeater with fine results.
...

zwankiptweepid says "Black & Decker corded mower right for small lawn" about Black & Decker 18 in. Electric Mulching Mower

I thought the corded machine might be a nuisance but I quickly got used to navigating around the cord. It's undeniable, the cord IS an added hassle compared to a cordless or gas-powered mower, but it's a very slight hassle given our lawn is so small (two 35'x10' sections, basically). And much preferable to having gas containers and all that.

The engine is powerful enough to gut through wet heavy grass, and the machine is fairly light and maneuverable, even on a hill. The only real complaint I have is that it doesn't trim very close to obstacles, especially on one side. The bag is easy to add or remove, and for once, with the mulching blades, I feel like there's actually a reason to sometimes bag and sometimes not. Another plus is the rather odd-looking clamshell top, with no snags, holes, or other mechanical features. This makes it quite weatherproof.
...

This mower, which 'appears' as if it's made in Maine. is not fully made in china. First mower lasted a month, handle snapped in two. The sales pitch is why fiddle with gas and oil.. when this is just a quick start. I've worked on this mower so much I could be a parts distributer and mechanic. wheels fell off, circut board replacement. It's a toy and not a mower. not to mention the bag option drags behind like a dirty diaper and if you try and back up, yupp you guessed it, you back over the bag. Has no real power to cut grass, it rips it out of the ground.. what a mess!
...

I miss my rechargeable lawn mower! Years ago, I purchased a Black&Decker battery operated, side-discharge, convertable, mulching walk behind lawn mower. It boasted of a 75 minute cutting period at full mulch on a single charge. There were numerous times that it surpassed 75 min! With my standard lot , it only took me an hour to complete my cutting, and this machine was a real trooper! I had it for four seasons, and only got rid of it because of the degradation of the plastic deck at the rear wheels. Big mistake! And I never needed to service the lead-acid battery! Kmart sells comparable machines, and I recommend the purchase of one! The best part is no gas, no fumes, no odor, and no worries !
...

I bought this AFTER buying the Mantis electric reel powered mower on ******. The Mantis didn't work well at all, and neither ****** or Mantis would refund my money. Off to Sears!

I fully intended to get a gas powered mower-I was done with the low power, low ground clearance. The Sear's associate assured me there would be no hassle if I was not satisfied, and based upon my history with Sears, I bought the Neuton. It arrived, was easy to assemble (I am assembly challenged, if I can do it, anyone can).

I love this mower! It cuts the grass without the horrible smell and noise of a gas mower, or the constant failure to hold a charge of lesser (Mantis) electric mowers. It is NOT self propelled, but is easy enough to push and the calorie burn is much better-so I get a decent work out that doesn't hurt my arms or legs.

It starts first time-every time! It has an indicator to let you know how much charge the battery has-no surprises there. The Mantis just slows down and quits when...
...

I recently bought my first house and going from apartment living to house and not having to mow a lawn was a change. I figured I'd buy an electric mower, that way I wouldn't have to mess with gas and tune ups for a gas motorized one. I find it difficult messing with the cord. Having to yank on the cord, getting tangled in the wheels, the cord getting stuck on the corners of the house, worry about the cord getting caught in the propeller and getting cut or mangled, getting caught in bushes, getting my feet tangled when changing directions and the cord not paying out like the directions describe even though it's set up like the directions say. I find that I spend 1/3 of my time messing with the cord. Although it cost about double the price I wish I had got the cordless. I think that B&D should have built in a self propelled feature too. Depending on the density of the lawn it's difficult to push around a large yard. Its electric why not include a self propelled feature in it? Not like it's......

THIS MOWER JUST DOESN'T CUT WELL. I NEED TO GO BACK AND FORTH OVER THE CUT AREA TO MAKE SURE THE GRASS IS CUT UNIFORMLY, AND THIS IS WHEN THE GRASS IS TOTALLY DRY. OTHERWISE, THERE ARE UNCUT "TUFTS" LEFT. I WON'T GO INTO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE GRASS IS SLIGHTLY DAMP! OUR SMALL LAWN SHOULD TAKE MINUTES, NOT HOURS TO CUT!...

I have had my mower for over six years. The concept of cordless is great but the mower never mowed very well, leaving streaks of uncut grass in my lawn. Other than that I like the plastic housing, still looks like new and is easy to keep clean. The mower has enough power to mow my lawn, and the height adustment is ingenious. After 6 years, I need a new battery, I have noticed it having trouble keeping up the last two years, especially after fertilizing. The batteries run up to $120.00 each, there are two of them in my mower. I found replacements for as little as $39.00 each, which I bought to replace my bad ones. I have now found that the replacement batteries aren't exactly the same so I am trying to send them back. Now I am thinking that I will just buy a new mower and I guess I am not happy enough with this one to buy another just like it. So I am going to look at another brand. My son just bought a cordless mower on my recommendation, but I didn't suggest he buy the B&D because it was......
