My family bought this over the summer. It'll work at keeping the ants out, but only for a brief period, especially if the weather turns bad. If your looking for a short - term solution, this is a decent product....

mzjen says "If the bug fits" about Kenmore Handheld Electric Bug Zapper

I suppose this product would actually work if flies were the size of fleas.. The plastic gaurd that covers the electric wires has openings so small that flies wouldn't be affected by it. They didn't fit through the holes, so were left un-zapped. This product only really worked to shoo the flies away. Needless to say, I was whole heartedly disappointed in this product. I had seen generic versions elsewhere and decided to buy this one because the Kenmore name denoted quality to me. Boy was I wrong. I ended up returning this zapper the next day and purchasing one for half the price from another company. The no-name zapper works great, as there isn't a plastic screen preventing the bugs from actually being zapped. This safety feature was probably done with good intentions, but works most as a safety feature for the insects. If you want to shoo flies without hurting them, go ahead and buy this junk. If you'd like the product you pay for to actually do what it is promised...
...

This product works great! Being a dog lover, I am always looking out for the well being of my two Huskies. Mosquitoes are a prevalent carrier of heart worm which they can transmit to dogs during a bite. Putting this unit towards the back of my yard has been the best prevention technique ever. I haven't seen a mosquito in over a month, a rarity for Florida!!!
...

xoari says "These bug zappers hardly work" about Koolatron 3 Pack Electronic Fly Swatters

I bought this because I was in desperate need of a bug zapper. I thought that because it said triple layer then it was going to be more powerful than a regular bug zapper, but it wasn't. Triple layer means that only the inner layer will zap the bug and it sometimes doesn't even kill the bug it just stuns it. So I would recommend just getting a regular bug zapper with one layer that will do the job much better than this piece of junk. Also because of the triple layer it makes it much harder to kill flies because they are so fast. The reason I gave it 2 stars instead of one because it did at least zap the bug if you got it into the inner layer, which is not very easy to do. Enough said, do not buy this unless you want to waste your money. Also the yellow plastic part breaks very easily, i've already trashed one of the three because it come apart....

This stuff you gotta ly on thick, and a good 3 feet from your garden. It's a mixture of dead animals and pepper. I like to add a dead coyote head because Deer are skidish to begin with. I think it is overpriced, trying to come up with my own formula, but until then it does work. Wash your hands after hand application. Dogs don't like it, and if you put some on the plant it does not hurt it. I like planting some hot peppers around my tomatos and beans then use the Deer Scram. I also think that if you double strip it the rabbit, coyote, and deer will leave it be. Like I said, There is no substitute for a bloody coyote head on a stake. Ain't no deer like that. Happy Eating!

I was worried about the reviews below, but due to a small fly infestation (20+ flies after the holidays), I had to find a solution fast. The local Sears store luckily had two left. After the purchase it took me 5 minutes zapping all those buggers to bug heaven (hell?). It was satisfying to see them pop and get electrocuted in that few minutes. Before the zapper, it was taking me hours to catch a handful.
...

This product worked for me, exactly as he described. Funny thing is I rushed out to buy one of the portable devices because my mother-in-law bought a "knock-off" portable bug zapper from a general store that worked like the outdoor bug zapper.

So I rushed out to Sears of course...... to buy what? Not a "knock-off" but this "Kenmore" brand. Just in case you got lost in my rambling...The knock-off work completely better. I'm taking this **** back tomorrow, guess I should review their return policy now.

Also, the device is complicating to use. The knock-off had 1 knob to push, with the Kenmore you have to hold the knobs on both sides of the handle down.
...

My front yard faces a navigable river, and my back yard has a creek at its base. It's mosquito heaven, and bug bites really bother me. I've spend many summers here fighting the mosquitoes and their winning the battle. Too much of the time we eat and live indoors rather than enjoy our large yard. Last summer one of my friends suggested one of these bug zappers, and I got it for the back yard hoping for better success with outdoor eating. It worked wonders. We really enjoyed our grill and picnic table for the first time in fifty years of living here. Last week I bought a duplicate to place in the front yard. I know it will provide me a more bug free walk to and from the car. I'm sure my guests will appreciate that, too.
...
