HE HAS FINALLY BEEN ABLE TO DO ALL THE WORK AROUND OUR HOME AND HAS NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS MACHINE AT ALL. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT!...

I bought this jointer over a year ago. I could not have asked for more for the money (169.00) I use it weekly on all types of wood, hard and soft. It is my first jointer and took me some time to set it up and figure out how to use it properly, but it does a great job. Very little snipe, which I blame myself for. If you are new to woodworking and want a jointer this is a high quality machine. Just check your infeed and out feed tables for flatness and your fence for square and dont try to make maximum depth cuts. This machine is not made to take off 1/4". Several passes at about 3/32" will do the job nicely. The blades do wear quickly, but are inexspensive to replace....

Read most of the comments here. I find the same as most. I have tighten the handle and broke 2 of the linkages at the same time. Not much pressure was used and it snap like a pencil. I could not believe what have happen The fence just fell down. Make the best of it, they wanted 12 dollars plus tax and 6 dollars for shipping...they should pay...but I have owned it fo 3 years now , yet hardly ever used.....if you are serious about woodworking get something better....

Must have gotten that one in a million machine. Although the set up was a little long, it was worth the effort. After setting up the product it worked like all of the other Craftsman tools and machines I own, great!!
The width is a bargain for the price, and the length beyond 4 feet does require some bracing. If set up properly the blades make smooth cuts with little to no loss of quality on the ends.
For the long time beginner with a small shop it is well worth the investment. Bring a friend to help pick it up, it is heavy for it's size...

I know a lot of people are underestimating this jointer because of it's size and what they need. I build guitars and use this for jointing the edges of the tops and backs for gluing. I have had great success with this jointer and feel a lot of you are overworking this machine. The tool does the job it was made to do. If you're jointing 8 foot and 10 foot boards get a larger jointer.
Upon receiving and setup of this machine I did notice and wasn't overly pleased about the amount of oil and grease on the parts. I had to wash everything with brake cleaner to get it off. I then proceeded to wax the bed and rail....

Initially I thought this was a great little jointer and it was, for my first project or so. It's a 100 lb piece a of junk. If you're looking for a compact jointer, by the Delta.
I have not used it hard at all. (I'm still using the first set of knives.) The belt has broken twice and most recently one of the linkages that when tightened, holds the fence, has broken. Unbelievable, junk!...

I bought my Craftsman 6 inches jointer and I was starting to use it recently. So far the results are just awful. No way I can get a straight edge. I checked everything, the infeed and outfeed tables are parallel, the knives are flush with the outfeed table, but still awful results. I'm using my router with a straight bit to straighten the edges. So, my jointer doesn't do what it is supposed to do. 100% useless....

This product is great for those with small shops. If a longer table is needed you can use supports or add on . It cleans boards up very nice. Replacement bladees are cheap or you can have then shapened. Overall I am very happy with this machine. However I use recycled lumber so I do some beginning work with a hand plane....

This is the perfect bench jointer for a small shop! I am limited on space so this is why I bought this jointer. It works like a charm. It was a little messy (oily) when I opened it, but the setup was a snap! I use it anytime I need to join two boards for a drawer front....

This is one of the most incredible tools I have ever owned. I don't know how I ever got along without it. Where I used to discard lumber, I now can use scraps in other projects. I never had the ability to work with thin gage lumber, but with the DeWalt planer, I can make perfect dimensional lumber for every project. The finish achieved is absolutely unbelievable. Every woodworker should own one....

I bought this jointer about a year ago and have used it mostly on Oak and Mahogany. The blades seem have wear pretty quickly though. At first it could cleanly plane through the face of a board, but lately even taking slow, shallow passes, there some tears and chiping.

Overall, a great value, especially if you can wait for a sale. Its solid, the motor seems strong, and when working on jointing edges, it does a great job. Not so great for planing along the face only because it doesn't do a clean job, but it does what it was built for very well....

The this jointer does not cut staight. After following the owners manaul set-up instructions I cut some boards to be edge joined. The cut was terriable, especially on the ends of the boards. Using a straight edge I found that the infeed and outfeed tables were not aligned. There is no adjustment for this in the owners manaul. Sears is taking this one back....
