I am a truck driver and I use an impact wrench often for changing tires. (my loader operator runs into my tires a lot.)

The one I had was not a craftsman, but when it was stolen, I baught the Craftsman. I am very pleased with it. I works better than my old high dollar one. Haven't had it slip on me once and I love the replacement guarantee that Sears and Craftsman offer. I also since have purchased numerous other Craftsman tools and am extremely pleased with their performance. I haven't had the unfortunate opportunity to utilize the replacement guarantee, and that speaks volumes for me.
...

Everyone on here talking trash about these air tools must have a very small air compressor. I have the Craftsman professional 25 gallon air compressor at 250psi. The impact takes off my lug nuts torqued to 85 ft/lbs almost instantly. I replaced my entire front suspension with this impact gun. That includes ball joints, tie rods, control arms, you name it. It never struggled. You also need to know that you should set the air compressors regulator at about 115 psi for these tools to work, so that they will go down to about 90 PSI when you are using them. If you set the regulator to 90, they will run at about 75. The case must have changed this year, because all 3 of the tools fit in my case with the quick connects attached. The air hose is very heavy duty, high quality. The air hammer slices through sheet metal in seconds, and it is great for popping out ball joints and things that have a press fit. If you have a compressor smaller than 25 gallon, dont expect to use air tools...
...

I researched the web for a 1/2" impact wrench that would do any job for a reasonable price. There are cheaper ones out there, but they may not be able to loosen your bolt/nut. This baby sings. The reverse torque is awesome. The forward torque is adjustable. It performs. One caution. Craftsman makes more than one "Craftsman Professional 1/2 in. Impact Wrench". Be sure you get this one. It's better than the other(s). Sears item# 00919864000 Mfr. model# 19864.
One anecdote. I was removing the flywheel nut from a 1988 CRX. I borrowed 3 wrenches from friends (all 1/2" impact wrenches). They just hammered and hammered, but couldn't break the nut loose. (Blew and Blew and couldn't blow the house down). This guy broke it loose in 2 seconds flat (or less, maybe...I was expecting to sit and hammer for a while but it almost immediately broke loose)....

I got the impact after trying to loosen axle nuts on a civic. The impact (also craftsman) that came with the compressor wouldn't do the job. I tried using a breaker bar with a long cheater bar and ended up making a trip to sears to replace the breaker bar. I couldn't believe how fast it broke the nut lose. The only reason I didn't rate it five stars is because I haven't had it long enough to determine how reliable it is....

I bought this impact over 2 years ago. I have been very impressed with the reverse power. I had a friend that could not break an axle nut off his acura and asked me to come over to see what I could do.
He had a 6ft pipe and a socket and could not break it loose. I used a small portable tank and my impact and had it off in under 30 seconds. Great product and I cant say I oil it every time.
Only thing I would like to see is a nice rubber cover made for it. Now it is time for me to put a seal in the trigger as it is finally loosing air.
I use this 4-5 time a week, building rotary motors, removing and installing them. Chad - Middle TN...

I have owned this tool for 3 years. It has been used most every day as I am a professional auto tech. Power is enough to loosen most any nut I have ever encountered. Remember to change the oil bath oil regularly. I have always used transmission fluid to fill oil bath and to oil the tool through the air line. Only bad thing I will say about it is its heavy for its torque rating and the throttle is not varible. Its either on or off. You can regulate speed with a knob on the bottom but it slows work down. Overall very good and reliable for a beginner tech or a do it yourselfer....

Got this as a freebie with the 33 gal 150 psi 1.6HP compressor. Just used the impact last night and it worked great. The quality of the tools are good. The fittings and the hose is not that good. The hose that came with the kit was clogged but took it back to sears and they gave me a new hose and fittings. Cool.
I purchased this 1/2 inch impact on a Saturday, on my way to the race track. (We needed an impact wrench NOW!) We stopped at Sears and left in 5 minutes wondering what we just bought since we had no time to do research. Once at the track, we were not disappointed. This tool has performed very well, week after week. It is well balanced and the sockets stay on the tool. Our 10+ CFM compressor gives it the air it needs. Adding air tool oil and a weekly cleaning is all we do.
For the price, this tool was a good value. I have faith this tool will serve us well for years to come.

Bought this impact wrench while working at a Toyota/Scion Car Dealership as a Service Tech thinkin "Hey its Craftsman, must be good, and 350 Ft.Lbs. has to be enough." IT WAS NOT. Especially since a tire rotate was an "every car" thing and this impact wrech would take 10 seconds on average to loosen and remove a lug-nut, bolt or nut. Unless it happened to be a lug-nut that someone put on at their home with hand tools where they didnt adequately tighten it. Needless to say I was wasting valuablle time. And any top make car dealership mechanic will tell you that speed along with quality is necessary. On average a oil/filter change w/ tire rotate and complete 19 point inspection which includes inspecting about every aspect of the vehicle along with filling all fluids and putting the before and after results on the inspection sheet takes about 20-25 minutes and this impact wrench really hinders that kind of performance. Yeah this impact wrench might be adequate for someone just doing yer every......
