I have had this opener for 3 years now and for some reason one side of the lights won't stay on. I have changed the bulbs, switched them around, everything, but it will ot stay lit. I give up. Other than that, this is a great opener and was easy to program the remote. I really like the outside keypad entry especially since I sometimes leave the remote inside the car that's parked inside the garage when I drive the other car!

Before I purchased this Craftsman Garage Door Opener 53990 I looked at similar units at both ***** and **********. The Craftsman units are made for Sears by Chamberlain and ********** and ***** both carry similar units. I bought the Sears unit because it had two advantages over the other two stores. First, the control unit has a motion sensor so the lights will turn on even when you just walk into the garage (they all turn on the lights when you open the garage door). But the biggest advantage is the warranty. On this model, Sears offers 90 days parts and labor, 5 years on parts and lifetime on the motor. The ***** and ********** units offer only two years on parts and five/ten years on the motors. For me the longer warranty and especially the 90 day complete parts and labor at your home is a big advantage.

I installed this 139-53916D opener in approximately 4 hours. It would have been less but this opener has a longer track & I had to add some reinforcement in the attic in order to relocate the motor mounting bracket. But, since I was replacing an opener the wiring was already in place making that part of the install simple.

This is much quieter & was easy to install. The sensor wall control is a nice addition. And we really like the monitor accessory as now we can tell if the garage door is open without having to leave the living room.

The Sears website had a $40.00 discount that my local store price matched & I received another $40.00 discount for having the Sears Rewards card.

It has been two years now since I bought the craftsman garage door opener and I have never had any problem at all. It is very smooth. Just spray the chain once a year and it will work forever. Hightly satisfied with it.

This product is great. Beware if you do not buy a garage door opener system with a battery backup - make sure you have your door keys if the electricity goes out while you are gone. We were locked out of our house for almost three hours one time.

The installation of the product looked very complicated at first but the step by step instructions are great. My husband installed the system by himself with only limited help from me in around 6 hours total time.

Works great. We are so glad we made the purchase.

This is our second 1/2 horsepower craftsman garage door opener. The first was placed in the house when it was built 14 years ago. The first motor just died so we chose to go with the same one. Installation was timely but easy to follow. Works great with no issues.

unit is less than 6 months old - purchased entire garage door system looking for the battery backup feature. control console has failed three times and can't get the parts. paid sears $70 to tell me the part is bad. sears then gave me an estimate of $140 to replace control console (just to attached 2 wires with screws to the back of the console). sears sent me replacement console because the unit is still under warranty. this unit failed. still without console. can't get the part.

i would not recommend this system.

GARAGE DOOR OPENER MODEL # 139.53990D: SEARS REFUSES TO HONOR WARRANTY

I have spent $,5000.00 at my local SEARS store in MUNCY PA and I will never go back again after this experience.

I purchased the garaged door opener captioned above on 11/14/05. I have constantly had problems with it. The light does not go out, it will not work well in temperatures under 20 degrees and this week the remotes will not work at all -even after replacing the batteries.

In review of my warranty, it clearly states the following: "From the 91st daty until five years (which is where my purchase is), Sears will furnish replacement parts for any defective parts free of charge. Labor not included. I figured the problem must be in the receiver logic board part # 41AC175. i took the entire motor unit down to the MUNCY PA SEARS store to the RETURN desk and walked in with the warranty, motor unit and receipt in my hands. I spoke with four clerks and manager forcing me to tell my store at least three...

My husband and I really enjoy craftsman quality products. The garage door opener we had installed works fantastic. This door opener replaced the original which was still operating after 30 years or so of age. I would like to point out that the old door opener is a craftsman too. We replaced it for two things the lights did not work and it only had one remote opener.

The safety and security features are great the out door push button is very useful and we really enjoy the motion sensor.
