Purchased this grinder today. Put it to work right away on a project, With the 4.5 inch knotted wheel. Stripped the rust off old parts and wore the wheel down to the nubbs. Great tool I can tell with the good care it will be around for a long time. I considered purchasing an air powered grinder instead. Glad I bought this one. Awesome power, I tried to bogg it down and could not stop the wheel. My only complaint is that it does not come with a case.
...

I finally got tired of replacing cheap-charlie-chinese grinders every few months, and sprang "the big bucks" for a Makita. Wow -- what a difference. Silky smooth motor, quiet operation, soft-touch switch, comfortable hand position ... and plenty of power to cut stainless bolts, slice through 1/2" rebar, or sharpen heavy lawnmower blades. I wish it came with a bag, but that's about all I can criticize.

If there was an option to give a tool 6 stars, I'd do it for this one!
...

I used this grinder to restore an old snowthrower, and a dozen other items - excellent durability and the perfect tool for metal work. This is signficantly better than the other high end brands compared with their 7 amp models. The threads per inch on this is standard so there are many attachments that fit this tool.

The only negative was the Sears store that I went to. I ordered this online and shipped to store. When I went to pick up the item from merchandise pickup they handed me an angle grinder in a box that had been opened. I thought this was strange so when I got out to the car I opened the box and realized that they had given me a USED angle grinder. It looked like the tool had been through hell and back (scratches, worn on corners, no factory sealed anything) and had a very used disk. I went back into the store and the sales associates there gave me a hard time for 15 minutes saying that because I bought it online they couldn't exchange it [even though I just picked...
...

I bought this abou 6 months ago to use for my scrapping business, I dont really abuse my tools but in this business it does really beat up your equipment. I use this to cut bolts grind metal housings apart, Cut large peices of metal down to size, and has paid fo itself many times over, Its small and compact and the lock on switch is nice too. Also I use the thin flat cutoff wheels, to use these you need to flip the nut that goes on theend of the spindle over so the inner ring is out. I have also removed the guard to better see what im doing and not neccesarily reccomending that you do that but it does help with use.
...
