This is not a pro tool but it's a great tool for the work shop or around the house. PROS: Being light, compact and cordless are what make this saw a pleasure to use. I've used it to cut dimensional lumber and plywood. As for the dimensional lumber; I've cut cheap pine 2x stock and some very dense hardwoods. Whereas it has done everything I have asked it to do I think this saw is best for thinner stock and plywoods. I don't use the laser because I use cutting guides for my work with this saw. However, I find it peculiar that we must use seperate batteries for the laser. CONS: The guide that comes with the saw is adequate but not great. The base is not exactly parallel with blade but that can be fixed with a rubber mallet and some patience. Be gentle and don't over do it! Because of the power it puts out this saw will drain a battery kind of fast so have one or two extras on hand if you need to use it for an extended period. The blades that come with this saw are OK...
...

I have used other laminate/trim saws before and the Craftsman 3" Mini Circular saw far out performs the others. It is a worm drive style saw so that it cuts a straight line without drifting off due to armature torque. If you are accustomed to using a larger worm drive saw, it is a natural. I used it to install windows in a redwood sided house and it was far easier to use than holding a full sized circular saw in a vertical position. One word of caution though. It has plenty of power. Do not force it or get it in a position that will lead to binding the blade. It will kick back with authority.
...

very strong motor and great blade sums up all of the positives . within a minute out of the box the blade guard handle crumbled off in my hand . litteraly . then i messed with the belvel adjustment only to have that break aswell . this product is very cheaply made chinese garbage buyer beware . its sad because craftsman used to represent american tools and quality . However now, as with many others, they have sacrificed quality to save a few dollars and send jobs overseas . cheap breaking chinese plastic is the result . off to makita or the all american (kind of ) Milwaukee with its great reviews and 5 yr warranty . talk about a company that stands behind its products .,,.,, try bringing jobs back to the US and quality back to your tools and perhaps you will bring this customer back to your tools but as for now.. ill pass thank you...

I used this saw to build a pool deck. We made 100+ cuts with ease. I bought the 19.2 Li Ion battery and it lasted a long time. The fact that this thing gets the job done, and its cordless is awesome. We cut many 4x4 posts, making a cut on both sides. It rarely got stuck. If you keep it straight, it cuts very well. Other than having to buy the battery and charger which cost as much as the saw, I think this is a great tool to have around but not completely replace an old fashioned corded saw.
...

Very dissapointed, since it's such a great concept. First..The blade guard is simply unmanagable unless you are doing anything but a starting edge cut on clamped material. I know all blade guards are annoying, but there's no easy way to hold this one open. Secondly... I was hoping this saw would have minimal kick-back but that's not the case. One blade always seems to contact first or more than the other and it will kick back like crazy...and it's especially hard to control since you have one hand on the plastic blade guard. Third complaint is that after just 3 cuts the hard plastic blade guard and spring are rubbing the blade and not returning it to the covered position. Fourth problem is...this saw is just not made well...it's heavy and awkward and just feels "home made" The metal blade shield is big and awkward. The case is metal and gets very hot while using it. The third time I used it I had to wear a glove due to overheating. It's easy to see this was...
...

This saw has the power to rip through 2 by 4s with ease! At the same time makeing delicate cuts through plywood or panneling with its Laser Trac Laser Guide! I've owned this saw for a while, I have to say if you take the time to adjust this saw for each application you cant go wrong. Delicate cuts need more teeth on the blade, use the laser to see wear the cut line is, easy.Framing or rough cuts, less teeth on the blade, you have 15 amps of power to rip through the job. This saw is light and easy to handel in any application, its durable and all around a good performer!...

This saw really performs in ways others can't. The battery, first of all, is really good. I would've though that with this much power battery life would've been in the drain. The blade is decent. It leaves a ragged cut but it cuts through some pretty thick ply wood with no hesitation. I love this saw and hope that dewalt only makes them better in the future!
...

While battery charged tools are convenient for do anywhere projects, I still prefer a corded tool. There is no battery to recharge nor concern that you'll run out of power. This saw in particular has good power, relaible starts and accurate cutting. It's easy to handle and a great addition to your tool collection.
...

I am a hand saw fan in general (with multiple saws that I have restored and sharepened), but there are times when a power saw makes more sense. The Craftsman trim saw has more power than I first expected, to the point that I use it for mutliple light-duty sawing tasks. It's light and compact enough to use it in tight spots. The laser line comes in handy for cut tracking. Very pleased overall.
...

This circular saw is very handly and powerful. Forget the battery power. This wired hand saw is a mini beast. It helped us to remove the studs and a wall easily. Runnign a full size circular saw through the 12 inc between the studs is difficult and unsafe. I use this saw to cut straight line and curve throught plywood without any issue. I also use it to some quick cut through 2x4. The build-in laser guide is awesome. The build-in LED light is supprisedly bright. Highly recommended.
...
