lincolnwelder says "Best 120 volt welder ive ever used" about Lincoln Electric Welder, Flux-Cored Wire Feed, Weld Pak 100

Im only 14 but ive been welding since i was 11 and do alot of it. I learned how with our neighbor on a miller 180 and its great but its a 230v unit. in our shop we only have one and it runs our fridge. So i bought a weld pack 100 from a pon shop. It runs on 110 volt 60hz 20amp ac current and does great. i have a gas kit but havent used it much because i have been working on thicker 1/2 and 1/4 inch structural steel on a welding table so flux cored is much easyer. It takes 2 passes on half inch but gets good pennetration. I run it on dc- and get great beads. never hit the duty cycle and ive ran som long beads with it. at school i use lots of different kinds and the weld pack 100 is definitly in my top 5. I believe every person should have some kind of welder in there garage for that day when **** hits the fan and it needs to be fixed.
...

toxonix says "Small MIG great for small shops" about Lincoln Electric Welder, 135 amp MIG and Flux-Cored Wire Feed/Welder

I use it for general fabrication and repair. It easily welds exhaust pipe, frame tubing, thin sheet metal. I was able to weld 1/4" thick steel I-beams to make a 20-ton press which has been in continuous operation for 2 years. For such a small package it is very capable, flexible and easy to control. It is well worth the money for mechanics and DIY'ers with 15-20 amp/single phase service.

Not as precise or versatile as a $1500 TIG, but if you're mostly doing steel stuff, its fine to have around.

The biggest problem I have with it is that it takes the 4" spools, which run out pretty quickly. Frequent spool changes are a pain in the butt. I don't think there are any bigger spools to fit this model.
...

I have no experience with MIG welding before I purchased the Lincoln Power MIG 215XT. Some arc welding in shop class during high school (25 years ago) and a few small projects here and there but nothing consistent as far as experience. I wanted to get back into welding and was wanting a 220v machine. Was looking at a Millermatic 212 but a friend of mine convinced me to go "red". Glad I did. Easy seven tap volt setting, smooth wire speed adjustment, low tank mount and angled wire drive system (Lincoln had some of these features first). Within an hour or so I was welding really well. Cannot go wrong with any "red" purchase when it comes to MIG!!...

What a great little welding package. I haven't done any welding in 30 years, since my youthful employment in a Body and Fender shop. "Stick" welding, for a beginner, was tricky then and took some practice to get it right. This Lincoln set had me welding near perfect in about 3 minutes. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to do light welding around the house or shop....

A friend of mine bought one of these and I got to see how great it was to use in the shop or garage. I just had to have one for myself! Anything from mild steel to aluminum and even stainless, what a HUGE difference over the previous competitors models a few years ago. I've already built and repaired quite a number of projects and making plans for others. I'm actually looking forward to my kids breaking things so I can use it even more. Great price and great machine! I am recommending it to all my friends that need a handy welder. Thank You Sears!...

I bought this welder at sears.com on sale right after christmas of 2006, for $279.00 plus tax and shipping. I have never used a welder before, but I read up on welding, I found that the best brands mentioned was Lincoln, Miller, and Hobart for reliability and readily available parts. The Miller was too expensive and the Hobart could not be used on my house current circuit, but the Lincoln weld pak 100 was on sale, and could run on 15 amp or 20 amp house current. I was laying down a welding bead in about 15 minutes after first using it, but I still need to practice some more to perfect my welds. I really enjoy welding with the weld pak 100, welding parts and consumables are fairly easy to find for this welder . I have found that some of the parts and consumables for this welder are also used with newer model lincoln welders too. I have found that this welder can weld thick metal at 1/8 inch to 3/16 inch very good with no burn through, I have not tried 1/4 inch metal yet. As far as thin......

Just adding some missing information....

From the Hobart web site, the #H119832-R45 rod is a 7018AC rod:

7018AC Welding Electrodes

Same as above, but specially formulated to operate with small
208/230 volt AC welders.

And the above they refer to is:

7018 Welding Electrodes

A low-hydrogen electrode for use in all positions on low,
medium and high-carbon steels. 70,000 PSI tensile strength.
Ideal for out-of-position welding and tacking. Runs on AC or
DCEP (reverse) polarity. Not recommended for low-voltage
AC welders....

I bought this weld pak 100 about a week ago, and I love it. This was my first welder and I am glad to have bought it than any other welder out there. When I got it home I had a peace of 16 gauge steel sitting around and stated to practice on it. After about a day I was laying perfect beeds down. I went down to my local hardware store, bought some square bar and built my own motorcycle stand for about a 1/4 of the price you would pay in stores and also a lot storger than a store bought stand. I really enjoy my lincoln and I would recomend it to who ever is looking for a good reliable welder that will last you a life time....
