Both light bulbs were burnt out within the first 30 minutes of use. Meaning I had to go out and find tiny light bulbs to replace them before we could really get started. The instruments for cutting, etc. are plastic and pretty much useless, but the microscope itself is ok.... My daughter loved it. She doesn't like to read but was very interested in finding out how to do a fingerprint study of our family. She has gone through the supplies and is begging for more even after six months. This kit provides hours of play and imaginative thinking to solve "crimes", like who finished the juice, or who left out the game. This is a great buy.... She is 11 years old, and she loves it. Her and her brother have had fun collecting specimens to look at. I wish it came with more slides. I did buy from Discovery Store a slide set from Meade. It was also worth the money. The kids have spent hours looking at the slides from the collection, and their own slides they made. Great buy and well worth the money....
