I was scheduled to get my compactor before Christmas, which I did. HOWEVER, after my hubbie & I struggled to get it placed under our island counter, we went to put the 'handle' on and the holes were bored incorrectly ! The handle didn't match up to the holes in the front. So, Sears ordered a new 'door' and we exchanged that part out, after the Holidays. Granted, that was probably a 'freak' deal... but was 'inconvenient' and was sad that I didn't have this to use while 18 'guests' were in my home.

Also, it is not 'smudge' resistant. Wherever you touch it, is GOING to show your fingerprints... I am learning to use the 'foot' pedal to open it and NOT use my hands on the outside of the compactor. It does a good job of compacting the trash and I love the 'extra' compact feature. My husband is loving not having to dump trash every other day : )

All said, I like the compactor, but wish it was in 'smudge' resistant stainless. It 'looks' good and coordinates with my other...

The hardest part of the installation was removal of the old disposal (rusted in); however, the plumbing connections were at the same location as the original disposal and installation went smoothly (once old unit was removed). Initial functioning of the new disposal is great; quiet and strong. It is a bit early for durability but so far I'm very pleased..

This is the Cadillac of food waste disposal units - way more powerful than the others I have had. It has never jammed in the six months I have had it. It handles everything I put in it speedily and efficiently, way faster than the ones I had before. I highly recommend this unit, and wish I had gotten it way before now. It has a nine year warranty, which really impressed me. Installation was a snap, too. All in all, this is a real winner!

The outside is plastic and cracked in two places, leading to a leak under my sink that was very hard to diagnose. Now I have to get some new wood under there as well as a new disposer.

This food processor is one of the best in the store, fairly quiet (though not as much as the more expensive ones) it does its job well and is fairly easy to set up and use.

This Kenmore 1 HP food waste disposer was easy to install. It does a good job of quickly grinding the waste food. It is well built and powerful.

This compactor has much more plastic than the previous version that it replaces. It runs very quietly - the original made quite a racquet while squashing. I hope that it will last as long as the previous unit (24 years), although I doubt it. I also wonder if the compactor mechanism exerts as much force as the original. Unless I use the Extra-Pack setting, it seems to only perform moderate compacting.

You must be careful while closing the door. I caught my thumb behind the front face while pushing in the drawer. It turned my thumbnail black due to the force applied to my finger by the sharp plastic point right behind the upper portion.

After owning a compactor for 24 years, the major problem has to be with keeping them clean. I wish that the components that come in contact with the trash could easily be washed or replaced.

I would recommend this unit.

I don't even put much down mine and now I'm on my third in 8 years. Going to try another brand that Sears sells....

This disposal replaced a very old unit. It is a definite improvement bit in operation levels and low noise level...

Very good value for the money. This was easy to install and was surprizingly quiet during use. This product has some great reveiws that were better than other brands costing 3 times more. Very satisfied with this disposal. I highly recommend this product.

Bought two of these to replace 20 year old models when I replace the countertops and sinks. They have only been in a few weeka but wirk well ND re much quiter than the older models.
