Easy and quick installation by Sears installation company. Described the process of the installation, length of time, county requirements, and provided options. Water heater works well and keeps up with the family demands....

Bought one unit to replace old Reliance unit to fit in cabinet on outside of house. Very happy with performance -- easy to set up. Efficient on use of gas. Bought second one on sale to replace another, old unit in garage. Good value and warranty. Read about problems with pilot light in reviews about Kenmore units -- have not experienced any -- if a problem, would have expected to have on unit in cabinet -- nothing so far.

I have had this water heater a couple years and the pilot light keeps going out. On most units it would be a simple fix of replacing the thermo couple. But after checking other web sites this is a common problem on all sears miser 6,9,12 gas water heaters. The problem seams to do with the sealed pilot/ combustion chamber. There is a vent below the burner that plugs up and stops the pilot/ burner from getting air and the pilot light goes out. usuly when the burner turns off after heating the water. It seems Sears knows of the problem but wouldn't fix it. As long as the problem has been going on Sears hasn't addressed the issue.

Pilot won't stay lit just 15 months after installation!! Apparently this is a known problem that is not fixable....

My old water heater (kenmore) finally went out. It was a 1985 that was in service for 24 years. I naturally purchased a new Kenmore 50 Gal water heater. It was easy to install, and I had hot water within 15 minutes of the gas being lit. With the 2 inches of insulation, I will not have to wrap an insulation blanket around it, making it even easier to install!...

I've read numerous reviews of water heaters, Sears and many other brands, before settling on this one. Many of the reviews mentioned issues with pilot lights not staying lit, and one day after installing mine; I woke up this morning to very luke warm water. I went out to the garage and yep - no pilot light. It relit immediately and the burner came on, so now I'm going out to check it about every two hours today to see if it stays lit. If not (today's Sunday) - I'll be on the phone to Sears tomorrow and will then reconsider this purchase....
