mcrogo says "The Kenmore gas slide in range is fast warmup/easy clean" about Kenmore 30 in. Gas Self Clean Slide-In Range with Convection Cooking

KMart started carrying Sears appliances after our Sears store closed, and the store has a knowledgeable, dependable staff. Before purchasing this range, I had a Jenn-Aire dual-fuel sllide in range. Due to several breakdowns of the control/circuit panel, that range was the worst I ever owned. I rarely knew if the oven would bake continuously, and as an avid baker, it was a huge disappointment. I always had a gas range prior to the dual fuel range, and I still prefer a gas range since the Jenn-Aire.

The Kenmore range I now have has an a oven that bakes in the time allotted in a recipe, a quick warmup time, dependable oven temp., and the range top grates, heating discs and elements are all dishwasher safe. The self-cleaning oven is also another super feature for ease of maintenance. i would recommend this product.
...

We purchased this for about in 2008. In 2011 first the bottom ignitor failed and now the top ignitor has failed. Each repair cost $200. GE was unwilling to help defray the cost since we had not purchased an extended warranty. I expect better quality and service from a high priced applance.
...

We rebuilt the kitchen and bought this new stove from KMart. Picked a Maytag because we figured we'd keep the Maytag repairman doing what he does best, which is just mope about because their appliances are never supposed to fail. We had it installed, but life took us away from our apartment and my husband was out of the country for several months - which is relevant because the stove (especially the oven), was hardly ever used for the entire warranty year. When we started to use the oven, we found that it did not get hot. The building we live in has an appliance service contract, but the service company was not able to figure out what was wrong. So, we contacted KMart, Sears, and finally Maytag. Only the repairman recommended by Maytag could figure it out, so three months later we finally had the oven working - of course, we had to pay dearly for the repair.
...

Purchased this appliance to replace my convection oven that died after 16 yrs. This has so many more features and the price was right. It is exactly what I was searching for in a convection oven without breaking the bank. It is easy to use, clean, and the front controls are perfect for someone of short stature who prefers electric over gas. I haven't experienced any problems so far....

NoviceChef says "VERY DISAPPOINTED" about Kenmore Elite 30" Slide-In Induction Range 4500

We bought our home a little over a year ago. It was a fixer-upper and the first project we excitedly tackled was the kitchen. I bought this range (in May of 2010), because Kenmore has always been the best, in my opinion. I loved so much about this range. It had the best self-clean option I've ever used (literally, the oven is cleaned spotless). I loved the rapid boil aspect of induction style cooking and I loved that induction style cooking is not supposed to heat up the kitchen as much as other types (so I was told, anyway). After some time, I noticed the range was noisy (fan is always on) and the oven seems to take a very long time to heat up, but that just wasn't enough to cause me to complain. Then I began to notice that my kitchen would get very hot when I cooked, but the house was new to us and we had this great induction cooktop that doesn't heat up a kitchen, so I thought perhaps it was the house. Next, we installed a ceiling fan, had the air conditioning checked, etc....
...

Although the stove is beautiful and functional, we found a few things that could be improved upon. We like to broil steaks. If you leave the oven door cracked when the broiler is on, the knobs for the top of the stove get very hot. Also the iron grates that fit over the gas burners are a bit of a hassle to clean.

The display panel is easy to follow and easy to clean.
...

We got this stove 2 years ago and have been very pleased with it. We used to have a propane stove and oven, but nothing ever cooked evenly in the oven. We live in the mountains and occasionally lose power, so being able to cook on the stovetop in a power outage is priceless.

This cooktop is great since there are four different sized burners on the top - one oversized-perfect for the big cooker, one small for little reheats, 2 regular sized and one mid-sized. It is nice to have options and it helps conserve the propane.

My only complaint is that the two same sized burners aren't in line with each other but are kitty-corner, so putting a griddle on for pancakes is a challenge. If the grill goes on straight, front to back, it is one two different sized burners so things don't cook evenly. You can straddle the two same sized burners, but it is awkward and the grill then blocks two of the other burners.

The convection oven is great and really cooks evenly - even numerous sheets of cookies...
...

We just finished building a house and put this in our contemporary kitchen. Not only does it look great but it cooks wonderful. I would buy it again. I only have one tiny complainant. The cook top is easy to lock so you can wipe it down but the oven and warming drawer controls (on the same panel) won't lock. So when I clean it I turn on the oven and drawer. No problem ,I can turn it off again but why not make it lock ? But I'd buy it again.
...

This ranges looks pretty good (although there isn't a trim kit to make it fit snugly with countertop and food gets in the crack) but I have NEVER been happy with it. The calibration is off - it runs overly hot. I tried to calibrate it according to the instructions, and it worked for awhile, but termperature is erratic. I can't even use the convection oven because it is so unreliable. My biggest complaint is with Sears' customer service. I spent a lot of money at Sears (bought a dishwasher and refrigerator at the same time) and they want to charge me $75 just to come perform a diagnostic on something that should have worked in the first place. That is deplorable, in my opinion. So, I stuck a thermometer in the oven and cross my fingers anytime I bake or roast anything.

Sears would be a better company if they would stand behind their products and if they would hire people with expertise.
...
