We purchased this incline trainer due to its ability to incline to 40%. It has proven itself a worthy fitness trainer for me, my wife, and son. Everytime we use it we are dripping with sweat. We have not purchased iFit cards for it yet, but we do plan on getting them for it to increase the workout intensity! As others have stated the waterbottle holders are less than ideal. Overall, we think it was a good purchase!
...

I thoroughly researched the three Nordic Track incline trainers as well as other incline treadmills, before purchasing. I decided to go with the X3 as it did not come with the ifit Live module, as I had read many bad reviews about the module not working and this preventing the incline trainer from being used. I have had no problems whatsoever with my X3, having bought it in March of this year.

I do agree with other reviewers that the heart rate monitor does not work, but I have a heart rate monitor watch, so no biggie there. The water bottle holders are at a slant, and I guess that is what other users haven't cared for, but I use them to hold my ipod or hand weights, etc. so they work for me. The X3 has the ifit Live SD card module, but honestly, the preprogrammed workouts are enough. Maybe one day I will try that option. Overall, I have had a positive experience with my incline trainer.
...

Purchased the X3 a little over a month ago, after a long long bout of research. Though Nordictrack doesn't appear to have the best reputation for reliability, I know several people with their equipment who are still happy with their purchase.

So far, ive used the incline trainer every day, for 30-90 minutes, over the past 32 days. I've used the preprogrammed settings and the iFit cards, both without issue. I enjoy the versatility of this machine over a standard treadmill.

A few things I'd note:
- i only stand at 5'3" tall and am petite. Running 6-7 mph is no problem for me, but I'm not sure someone standing much taller would be comfortable doing the same on the shorter belt length.
- when altering the speed/incline in the preprogrammed workouts, the unit seems to adjust speed THEN incline. If you've been walking at 1MPH/40 deg incline, then it switches to 2.5MPH/20 degree, it can initially be a shock when the belt speeds up. The until will beep an alert before it alters. I recommended......

The machine was great for 3 weeks. Starting losing weight and getting in shape... loved it! Until it just quit in the middle of a workout. We have been waiting 4 weeks to get it repaired! It's great as long as it doesn't break down. Once it breaks down plan on being without it for a while. Make sure you get the extended warranty since it's apparently not well made. Requires special outlet adaptor that doesn't come with it.
...

My wife and I totally love the incline trainer. The main reason we purchased it was the ability to incline to a 40% grade. This provides a faster means of burning calories, whereas you do not have to spend hours on it to burn calories. We are definitely noticing a difference!

Like:
The unit comes with a decent warranty out-of-the-box. I did a self-assemble, and it was not bad to put together. The unit's platform board has adequate flex and awesome shock absorbing rubber stabilizers. The display offers many options for workouts. Best thing about the display is the ability to easily change incline and speed in steps or smaller increments.

Could Improve:
At high inclines, the belt offers no resistance to maintain speed. Especially without holding onto the rails. This may depend more on your weight and stride, whereas I (6'1" 230) have more difficulty with this than my wife (5'7" 130).
The cup holders sit at too much of an angle.
Depending on the shoes you wear, the belt seems to......

We took delivery of the trainer two weeks ago today. We were originally concerned from reading reviews that NordicTrack service was substandard, but decided to purchase the trainer anyway. The delivery installation team from Sears were great.
We felt that the motor might have had a bit of a hum that was too loud, so we called NordicTrack service. We did NOT wait long at all on line and they put us in touch with their technician who was nearby where we live. He was right on time and was more than helpful. Very knowledgeable and honest, and explained everything we asked.
I highly recommend the product....

Purchased in April 2010 but stopped working in June. Called Nordictrack and after more than 6 months, dozens of calls, multiple service visits and replacement parts it is still not working. Nordictrack refuses to replace the unit in spite of their inability to repair it. They are now offering to replace parts that have previously been replaced. I've been without the treadmill for over six months and they will not make good on their warranty. The unit is undependable and Nordictrack's service support is terrible....

I absolutely love my Incline Trainer. I am 35 and a mother of 3. I have a 4 yr old, 2.5 yr old and my youngest baby is 10 months old and I am already below my pre-pregnancy weight when I was 30 yrs old. People are amazed that I have 3 kids. I tell them, I do my treadmill every morning before I go to work. I love that I can climb a mountain, workout with Jillian, run, or power walk on an incline. I do something different each day. The results I am getting is my motivation to keep on doing it every morning
...

My wife wanted a treadmill for those days she just coudn't make time to visit our local YMCA (the best option for all it has to offer). Of course, she didn't just want a regular treamill, but one that could have a steep incline. Not because she is particular, but sometimes she likes to walk and the higher incline gives her a better workout.

I researched a variety of potential options and settled on the Nordic Trac X5. It is not inexpensive, but offered a variety of features (including the 30% incline). The inset fans are helpful to give a little air flow during your workout.

In addition to your membership to a YMCA or similar facility, if you need an in home option, consider the Nordic Trac X5 Incline Trainer. (Especially if it will make your wife happy. . .)
...

I WOULD NOT WISH THIS NIGHTMARE PIECE OF JUNK ON ANYONE! Luckily I have purchased the 3 year extxnded warrenty and HIGHLY recommend you do the same if you purchase this pile of crap. I purchased it Nov 09 and assembled it Jan 10 after moving. While assembling it I found out there was no manual or adjustment key(allen wrench) shipped. Called Nordic track right away and nothing but rude customer service the whole time(took 30 minutes to get through) ...they know it all, just ask em! 2 months later machine breaks down and now I have to deal with customer service again (took 20 minutes just to get through) an again they are rude and no help.It took them two an a half months before it was working again. No more than 3 months later it broke down again (different part). Once again RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Took another 2 months to fix that problem. I have had this junk for 8 months and it has been broke down over 4 months and to this date the belt still slips an they do not want to fix it. DO NOT...
...

Do not buy this piece of equipment, you will have nothing but problems and terrible customer service!Every problem I've had has been with what was installed at the factory.I had to replace the controller board($300.00) because a nut came loose and shorted out the board, one of the back corners of plastic covers had screws to hold them together but no nuts on the inside to secure them together, both were factory installed. The two bolts in the rear that secure the platform to the frame sheared off and now the frame at the front right corner is broken completely apart. This machine and the $1500.00 I spent is now destined for the trash,A complete loss!
...

When I first hooked up my X5 I was having a hard time getting my iFit to connect to my WiFi. I realized that my signal strength was too weak so I added a router to the room with my X5 and it has worked wonderfully since then. I have enjoyed simulated hikes from Pike's Peak and the Wind River Range. I also like the fact that I do not have to run to get a cardio workout. I set it at 25% incline a get a great work-out while walking 2-3 miles an hour.

Love it, finally a machine that motivates me to workout - love the Google earth view from my lap-top so I can see my progress on my hike.

This is by far the best home machine out there. I've had mine for about 6 months and I just love it. I've been a treadmill runner for years because I have kids and living in the north the weather is not always safe for outdoor running. My old treadmill still does it's thing, but when I read about the incline trainer having the ability to mimic my other love, hiking, I just had to have one! It really was time for a new treadmill anyway, and after scouting for the best price...I went with Sears. The speakers also have amazing sound! The only thing to pay attention to is the different models. I have the base model, and that works for me because I'm only 5'5 and not overweight. Taller people would probably need the longer belt track, which is also more expensive. For me, this thing is perfect, and I love how it incline up and down so smoothly while I'm running or walking. It's relatively quiet, and seems very sturdy. I would recommend this machine to anyone who wants a great cardio workout...
...

I really like my X3 incline treadmill. Its a beautiful looking machine. Its just a shame it came with missing parts and ohh yeah, it also just plain doesnt work!! Ordered and picked up from Sears. Box was perfectly fine, no reason to suspect that anything would be missing. So I drag this beast into my house, put it together and realize that a huge part of the underneath plastic cover is missing. This is the part that would cover the motor and other parts like that. So right off the bat Im a little upset, but no big deal. I figure I will get Nordictrack to send me out the missing part, but the machine itself should still work, right? Uhh......no. I put it all together and tried to start it up and the incline motor works, all the elctronic displays work, just not the actual treadmill motor. Hmmm....so the plastic cover for the treadmill motor is missing and the motor itself doesnt work. Thats interesting. is it possible I was given a refurbished model at full price? Thats what Im guessing. ...
...
