Ouch! That was my first reaction when I bought this set to work on our 1976 Firebird! I knew that my standard socket sets was not going to take the kind of beating I was about to give them since my current impact set just doesn't have all the sockets I need and buying them one by one was going to cost me more in the end I figured I just needed to pull the trigger and ask her for forgiveness since I'd never have gotten permission! Sorry, Honey!

That said, I think I just did the best thing I could have for my tool arsenal! These things are built to take the punishment of an impact driver or pneumatic ratchet and have already paid for themselves (well, almost) in removing some of the front suspension components from a donor car!

Pricey but well worth it as these are all but bullet proof!

I bought these metric impact sockets mainly to rotate tires; they are built well enough and for a home user they are fine. They are slightly tighter fit on lug nuts than some other brands I have used so just make sure you seat the sockets on the nuts fully before using your impact wrench. When on sale, they are priced similar to H. Depot's made-in-China set. Not sure I would use them if I made my living as an auto mechanic, but for me they are good enough. Made in USA always helps!

Upon reviewing several sets, the photo of this set clearly shows "Made in USA". It's made in China. While the set seems heavy enough, I could have saved money by getting a set from **************, Northern Tool, or even ***** or **********. Sears like everyone else is being taken over by the bean counters who could care less about quality and American jobs.

I purchased a set of the Craftsman Evolv Metric Deep Impact Sockets and was pleased at the very sturdy cast/milled dark steel construction. Very heavy duty and just what I needed at an excellent price. However, two small issues detracted from the purchase: 1) The size of each metric socket was stamped into the metal in very small numbers...almost impossible to read imbedded against the dark brown color of the sockets themselves. To remedy, I took a small paint brush of white enamel to each socket's size stamp and wiped off the surface paint leaving the imbedded numbers more clearly viewable via the impregnated white color. If I had not done this, it would have been very difficult, even in good light, to be able to select any socket for use by its size number. 2) The plastic "rack" that came with the set holding the sockets in size order could only be made useable by first using a pair of sharp snips to cut the plastic anti-theft packaging off the rack (there were no instructions provided),......

My husband buys only the best of the best tools so when he buys something it has a lot to be compared to. Well he loves these sockets and this brand because you get great quality for a great price. They are wonderful for at home and projects around the house. I would recommend this to my friends and family.

These feel very solid and have worked very well for the few times I've used them. With the lifetime warranty that Sears offers behind these as a backup, I don't see why these won't last me a lifetime. (Probably won't ever need to replace them anyway). Very happy with the socket set.

Bought the set, the sockets are basically put into a box (or thrown into the box), taped up, & shipped, guess the presentation just wasn't there when I opened package. They had double up on one socket so I was missing one size, called .com & tried to have them ship the one to me, they wanted me to rebox and send back to them, no way! Got local store to change out for right size. It is a great thing that I can go into a local store and have the salesperson order for me and have no shipping fees, plus they took care of me afterwards when .com was basically getting stupid.

Because they are STRONG and 6 pt sockets grab nuts and bolts better without the fear of rounding the edges before the stubborn bolts can be coaxed out. It also gets you ahead of the game to have impact sockets before purchasing a compressor - because any serious mechanic will have one in the future anyway.

When I received my socket set I was more than a little disappointed. I only received 8 sockets of the 24 that came in the set. From reading another review, this seems like it may be a common problem. After taking them back to the local Sears store, and waiting another week, I received a new set. The 2nd set I received was a complete set. The sockets are very heavy duty as I expected from Craftsman. The packaging they came in was a few plastic bags that were riddled with holes. Wasn't a huge concern for me but, would have been nice if they came in some sort of plastic holder like they do in stores. The markings are also not as clear as they are shown in the pictures. Would have given 4 or 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact I had to order these twice to get the entire set....
