Got this inflator as a gift Christmas of 2011, used it twice was not impressed. The screw on connector is a terrible idea as you lose too much air while unscrewing and the gauge was off by at least 12lb. Went to use it for the third time yesterday on a car tire, plugged it in and would not power on. Inspected the power plug and found that the plastic inside near the fuse had melted to the spring and fuse which resulted on zero contact with the power outlet. Do not waste your money on this product!
...

We have owned this compressor for 18 months. Worked just fine at first. Tried to use it today and although it makes a great deal of noise and sounds like it is trying hard to work, it actually does nothing more than just make noise. Very disappointing. We own quite a number of other Craftsman products and have been generally pretty happy with them. This has certainly not proven to be upto the standard that we had expected.
...

The web ad fails to mention that you do not get a battery and in addition you will need a charger to charge the battery, plan on an additional $50 investment. I received this as a Christmas gift and unfortunately I will have to ask the gift bearer to refund this thing for something more useful. I do not like the idea of a battery as I need this inflator as an emergency backup and how many people keep checking the unit to see if is charged in case of an emergency.

Bad product! Bad advertising! This thing is going back and I am not buying a Sears product to replace it.
...

The Craftsman 120V Portable Inflator has worked great the 20 or so times I have used it to inflate tires. The pressure gauge is accurate, the air hose screws onto the valve stems easily, and the inflation rate is fine. Highly recommended.
...

I used the Nextec Inflator to pump up an SIV tire that was going flat. This tool inflated my tire very quickly and accurately as I checked later with another pressure gauge. This tool has everything you need such as a light, accurate pressure gauge and fast inflations. Most of all it is portable and uses little battery power to pump up one tire. You should be able to inflate at least 2 completely flat tires on one battery.
...

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the pressure reading while inflating is a couple of pounds higher than the actual pressure. Basically, if you wanted your tire at 32 psi, you need to set the inflator to 34-35 for it to inflate all the way to 32. Not a big deal compared to all the pros. Good item especially for the price....

I was skeptical about using a battery powered air compressor for my vehicle tires. But this air compressor exceeded my expectations. It was very fast in increasing the tire pressure from 26 psi to 32 psi and the pressure gage was as accurate as my precision manual gage.
...

Craftsman 12V Portable Inflator was not powerful enough. I was putting a 1-2 pounds of air in each tire. The inflator got hot quickly. After I inflated the 3rd tire it overheated and shut down. I was so frustrated that I packed the inflator in the box and returned it to Sears. Don't waste your money on this inflator.

The NEXTEC 12 V inflator works well and is very easy to use. Weighs little, which makes it easier for my wife to use. Very simple to adjust pressure to different settings for different kinds of tires - bicycle / auto / tractor. Since we already own a NEXTEC drill, no need to buy a battery for each tool. Very pleased with the product....

You can't fill up a tire with a screw on adapter. While you're unscrewing it form the tire valve the air you just put in leaks out. The rubber around the adapter is very cheap and isn't strong enough to twist the meetal adapter it's around, so the rubber turns and not the valve.

I would love this if I caould only use it to fill bike tires with (what I bought it for).

Now I'm back to using the hand pump (1/2 the price but with the standard connector you would expect)
...

worked out of the box and was fast and powerful enough. The screw-on only connector for a tire valve stem was a little annoying but just needed to over inflate almost 1psi to compensate for air lost unscrewing the connector and then rechecking w a tire guage. It seems like the air hose has a standard connector so it should be possible to replace with a quick release tire inflation head. While that additional cost may be a drawback, it does work okay as is. My last inflator is perfectly good but the connector head has degraded to not hold pressure. At least the connector is replaceable on this unit. I chose the 120V over the 12V b/c it's a little big to keep in the car all the time. Only other drawback is that it could use a wider more-stable base to keep it from walking away during use.

Remove the plastic protection over the face of the guage before use as it can melt a little making it harder to remove later.
...

Sears would not provide a battery, so I returned the Inflator. $45 for a product that does not work until you buy a $20 battery for it is ridiculous....

I bought this Craftsman inflator to air up tires on my lawn tractor. I shopped around for a 120 volt inflator, but there just aren't that many on the market. The only drawback to this inflator is that you have to screw the connector on to the valve stem. This allows air to escape when you take it off. I would have preferred it had a nozzle like you find at a service station that just pushes on the valve stem. All in all though, it is a very good product.
...

I ended up having to replace the battery after a year as I could not remember to keep it charged. It was not cheap to buy a new battery especially with shipping (purchased from a battery specialty store on the internet). Then within a month of replacing the battery, the three way switch broke and fried the circuit board.

It was somewhat slow to fill up tires. It is pretty heavy with the battery and compressor....
