jillwv says "You will spend more on batteries than the monitor!" about Fisher Price Long Distance 900MHz Baby Monitor

I registered for this baby monitor and received it at my shower. It does work, it picks up baby's sounds. But it eats the batteries. I typically have to change the batteries once a week. Now we don't keep it on all the time, about 2 hours each day. And when the batteries go dead the monitor makes an awful screeching that's so loud it wakes baby up!

The other problem I have is that it doesn't pick up well at long distances, about 50 feet is the max before it gets too fuzzy to hear baby.

jillwv says "Great toy for dogs who chew" about Kong Red Tuffy

We adopted a Cur pup and he's 1 year old, 70lbs, and chews up everything! I finally found the Kong and bought it out of desperation. I put a treat up inside of it like the direction said and gave it to him. He went nuts and we had a great laugh watching him play with it. This toy is so worth the money. He keeps coming back to it and it's still in pretty good shape.

I do have another dog who wasn't interested in the Kong but she generally only likes toys that squeak.

I highly recommend the Kong!
...

jillwv says "I love these gowns, especially for my newborn" about Carter's Newborn Girl's 2 Pack Gowns

I love these gowns. My little one looks so cute in them. They are good and long so they cover her legs and feet. The elastic has plenty of give so when chaning her diaper it's so easy to just pull the gown up and change her. I love the little fold over mittens so she can't scratch herself. I couldn't imagine having to unzip or snap a sleeper in the middle of the night while trying to to wake her. The neck is good and roomy so you don't have to stretch it to get it over her little head. I have 8 gowns in rotation and that's probably too many, so for an average newborn I would say you would need about 4 gowns for nightime use.
...

jillwv says "Baby loves these paci's, I don't!" about The First Years Soothie Pacifier 2 Pack Newborn

My daughter is tongue-tied and we have tried every paci we could get a hold of, she loves the soothies.

My one and only complaint about these pacifiers is the large, heavy base. It's so heavy that if she rolls on her side the paci comes out and she can easily grasp the little nubby part and yank it out. So most of my time is spent trying to help her put it back in. I've heard they make a new version of soothies that work better, called gumdrops, but haven't tried them.

Overall, I would buy these again--and probably will have to!
...

jillwv says "Pampers just don't fit my little one" about Pampers Newborn Swaddlers Jumbo 40 Count Size 2 Soft Pack

The hospital started our baby out with Pampers Swaddlers and every time she peed we had to change her shirt and blanket. I just could never get a good snug fit that didn't leak. I've used Pampers in the past on baby boys and had no problems, but they just don't fit my daughter well. I love the little indicator on the front that tells you when they're wet.

Just get some cloth diapers and covers, it's much simpler, cheaper, and better for baby.
...

jillwv says "Playtex Drop-Ins have stood the test of time" about Playtex VentAire Advanced Bottle, Standard, with Slow Flow Nipple, 6 oz, 3 bottles

I chose to use Playtex drop-ins bottles because Playtex bottles have been around for years and it's what my mom used with me. There are more expensive and less expensive bottles on the market but Playtex bottles are so easy to use, clean, and help with gas.

You only have the boil the nipple, ring, and cap so it's so much easier than trying to sterilize huge bottles.

The drop-in liners can get expensive if you have to have the Playtex brand, but I like the Parent's Choice liners just fine.

My baby has a tongue-tie and she is able to take the Playtex bottles with ease.
...

Don't waste your time or money on this breast pump. It's very loud and leaks. If I had it to do over again I would have bought Medela pump. They are more expensive but so much better.
...

jillwv says "Can you hear me now? Good, DON'T BUY THIS PHONE!!!" about VTech - 5.8ghz. 2 Handset Cordless Phone System- Model CS5111-2

I bought this set, brought it home, hooked it up, and it worked fine. For about 2 months. Then things started going downhill. The second handset just stopped working, no warning, nothing. Changed the battery, no go. Called 800 number, sorry take it back to the store, ok. Took it back to the store, sorry after 30 days it's the manufacturers responsibility. Called 800 number again, the guy was rude and in the end proved unhelpful. So we were down 1 handset but kept using the main base and that handset. It was fine for a couple more months then it started getting really staticy and nearly impossible to use. In the end we pitched these in the garbage and bought new phones. No more Vtech for me!!
...

I am currently reading Diane Mott Davidson's series of books. I really enjoyed the first in the series Catering To Nobody.

We get an introduction to the characters, the main character being Goldy, a caterer who turns detective. The storyline is great in this book and it really keeps you guessing right up to the end. This is a fairly easy and quick read.
...

jillwv says "Great Moisturizer+Sunscreen+Relieves Redness" about Aveeno Ultra-Calming Moisturizing Cream

Aveeno Ultra-Calming Moisturizing Cream is a very good product. It's about $15 for a 4oz bottle. It comes in a pump bottle, and 1 pump does my whole face and neck so 1 bottle really lasts a long time. I have terrible dry skin and my face is often red--maybe rosacea, not sure--and this product claims to relieve redness and it actually works! I'm not saying it took all the redness away, but it is so much better now and my dry skin is gone! I highly recommend this product to those with ultra dry skin and/or redness. Two Thumbs Up!...

Yahoo Answers is a very large community where users can go to ask questions or to answer other people's questions. The majority of people on Answers are friendly and helpful, but occassionally you will get rude comments or down right profane answers. And although you can report inappropriate answers and questions it often takes a long time of the administrators/moderators to remove them and/or reprimand the trouble-maker.

But overall you can get good, quick answers to your questions on anything: cooking, pregnancy, computers, kids, animals, etc.
...

jillwv says "Don't waste your time or money" about As on TV Peticure Pedicure Clip Pet Nails

I saw the Peticure advertised on TV a couple of times and decided to check out their website. I ordered the Peticure Elite and received it 6 weeks later. I put it together and charged it per the instructions. Then it came to try it out. I turned the dial, which has settings from 0 to 10, and it only worked on number 10. It was way too fast to even try on my dog. I had my husband double check that I had put together correctly and it was. I emailed the company and the response I got was to call the toll free number. I called and they didn't offer any troubleshooting adivce, just to send it back and they would replace it. I opted to just send it back for a refund. I sent it back and called a week later to see if it had been received and when to expect a refund, I was very rudely informed that they had no way of knowing if it had been received and I would get my refund in somewhere from 30-90 days. In short, crappy product, with an even crappier customer service dept.

...
