in my opinion...the actors did a good job but the essence of the story is too worldly and immoral. I didn't like how it ended either. It gives a negative effect to the viewer. It doesn't uplift nor build up a character. Not something i would recommend to a friend or relative.

This film won Best Picture for a reason. The acting in this film is truly incredible, Spacey at his best. The music is hauntingly beautiful. It is a bit slow-paced and oddly formed but you still get caught up in the mystifying beauty of it. It isn't the best film I've ever watched but it is a film that I certainly recommend.

American Beauty is quite a sad film. Going over it in my mind as I watch, I see how the mother and father are both quite selfish and self absorbed. Too absorbed to notice that they have a wonderful daughter in desperate need for attention. It is as if this family were cut p into individuals as room mates rather than a close nit family.
