I was afraid that it would encourage him to speed but it has actually made him more cautious. It picks up signals for emergency vehicles  ( fire trucks, ambulances and construction vehicles) which causes him to slow down and become more aware of his surroundings. Now when i ride in the car with him i am not pressing my own set of invisible brakes on the passenger side.</p>... He also has an electronic compass in on the dash. Unfortunately, the compass seems make the radar detector go haywire. It goes off randomly with the alarm that means you are being shot by radar....QUITE annoying.</p> <p>We unplugged the compass and it is still beyond repair. We did send it back to company because, 2 months later, it blew it's fuse out. The company replaced it but we still can't use the electric compass when it's on.</p> <p>This product is good for what it is but if you have anything else electic in the car don't buy it!</p>...
