Amazing. I got this on sale, which made it evey nicer. I had just bought a house, and was in need of a compound miter saw to build my deck of composite. The deck is 485 square feet, so it's not small. No cut proved to be too difficult for this saw during the project. In that project alone, I made over 1500 cuts, no issues. Since that, I've used it in several other projects. The laser guide is nice, the collection bag is great, and the cuts are true. Highly suggest.
...

I bought this saw to construct new kitchen/bathroom cabinet doors for my home, and it performs flawlessly. Out of the box, everything was to specifications except the 45 degree detent needed a slight tweak. The manual is clearly written, and this process was very simple. The saw will be very easy to keep true as I use it more. Although the Craftsman 60T blade that came with the saw is a fine blade, I did upgrade to a CMT 80T finish blade to get a finer cut on the cabinet doors. Dust collection is somewhat iffy, but I have never had high expectations or results in this area from any miter saw I have used.

I researched a lot of saws before I settled on this unit. While I might have chosen a heavier duty unit if I were making my living with this saw, I could not see shelling out an additional $300+ for a different brand with the same features for my purposes. I look forward to many other projects using this saw.
...

i purchaced this model 4 months ago... great saw woorked flawlessly, well built, the only down side is the laser kept cutting out. so i got a replacement... same model number but different saw... apperently the bean counters got to it, the base is poorly constucted, the berrings are cheep, and they added a safty switch to the already uncofortable handle. all in all i hate my replacement and its going back. If you have no clue about wood working don't screw with tools... FYI the good one is all silver and the p.o.s. is all black... i'm done with sears for good. Fair well Craftsman rest in peace.
...

arch0044 says "Nice saw, but they could improve on a coulpe of things." about Craftsman 10 in. Sliding Miter Saw

I bought this saw about 3 weeks ago and have tackled a couple of home improvement jobs. So here's my take having limited use with the saw.

PROS:

- Nice blade cuts well

- Cost (slightly less expensive than comparable saws when on sale)

- slides very smoothly

CONS:

- The saw I got is slightly different than the saw shown in the picture. My base is mostly black and my tightening handle is red and black. (Not a big deal to me but might matter to some.) Also there is nothing that covers the two shafts that the blade slides on.

- The dust collection system is terrible. It captures perhaps 10% of the saw dust.

- Tightening the the handle causes the saw to move 1 degree to the right.

- The base is small and light for the size of the saw. This causes the saw to be unstable. It really needs to be bolted down when cutting larger boards.
...

I have a Craftsman compound miter saw already. I bought this to use installing vinyl siding. Worked Great for Siding and Soffit. Payed for itself in time saved.
After 400sq ft the laser got blurry, like out of focus. I called customer service. They recommended cleaning with alcohol and Q-tip, nice and bright again....

I just bought this saw a few days ago to do my hardwood floor. I tried it and it works great with a powerful 3hp motor. The laser track is a big help but the dust bag is a joke. Unbeatable price of $170 compare to other brands....

I Just bought this saw a few days ago and it works great. the laser is very useful and yes sometimes it needs to be cleaned off with the swipe of a finger, but how much work is that? also the dust collection works somewhat, the bag fills up so it must work. but what would you expect it's a saw..plus um used to a chainsaw so anything is better....

I read with interest, all the complaints of dust not collecting in the bag. Few people realize you don't use a sliding miter saw like you do a radial saw. You insert your material, you slide the saw out beyond the edge of the piece, start the motor, push down on the saw, and push back through the material. You'll collect a lot more dust and produce a smoother cut. If you don't believe this, read the articles in your woodworking magazines....

The saw works great and is easy to adjust. The one feature that works poorly is the dust collector. After making a number of cuts on wood I had to clean off the lazer. It was covered with wood dust and was not visible on the cutting surface. A quick wipe with a soft cloth was all that was necessary to continue. Though not perfect, I still think this is a great buy....

For the money, I expected a so-so saw with so-so accuracy so-so durability and many annoying design flaws.

What I go was a great saw with great accuracy fantastic durability and very few annoying habits. I've had this saw for a couple years now and honestly, most of the time-it sits and does nothing. But, once in a while I give it a heck of a workout. 3/4" oak floor didn't even make it blink. But what really got me was this last project. I really beat on that motor with some gummy nasty pressure treated pine. I was notching some 6x6s (which I had to cut half on the draw) Really made the motor grunt. Hard enough that the breaker popped. Once I re-set the breaker ( and turned off a few lights) I went right back to work and finished the job. The deck has a herringbone top which gave many opportunities to test the miter accuracy. It passed the test with flying colors.

Can't say enough about this saw. I got all my money's worth out of it and then some.

The only annoying habits are the laser-not......

Have used this saw for 4 weeks, for cutting both lumber and aluminum (window screen frames). All cuts were precision true and effortless. The laser guide is a great asset and very visible except when outside in bright sun. The dust collector is worthless and should be redesigned. For occassional home use and the price, I would highly recommend this sliding chop saw....
