Easy to assemble and easy to use. Works fine if you read the owners manual first and follow the directions. The drier the soil, the less clogging of the blade. I like the blade design as it cuts better than most since it has cutting teeth and not just a straight edge. It cleans up very easy and the blade housing comes apart easily for cleaning.
...

BayouTiger says "Worst Edger Ever!" about Craftsman 12 Amp Edger

Bought this to replace my trusty black 3HP Sears unit only because the blades for the 3HP were becoming nearly impossible to get and the guide tab had completely worn away so I was going through blades more quickly.

This new unit has a "Space Saving" handle that goes to two positions - straight up for storage and a working position that is far too low to use the unit comfortably. I normally edge with my cordless trimmer and only use this on occasions where I missed a cut and have a little thicker grass on the edge. If you adjust the cut to get below the sidewalk even slightly, the blade guard housing will clog with dirt as it is very restrictive. If you do not cut this deep, it is nearly impossible to keep it on track as the handle is down around your knees. I'm not tall either at 5'8". I can't imaging how a taller person could use this tool at all!
...

Worked great in the 5 times I used it this year on my 20' driveway. Now it starts for about 10 seconds then quits. After waiting for 20 mins or so it will do the same thing. Blade shows no wear and it's set at the 1" depth so it's not overheating. No idea what the problem is, the edger it's trying to imitate lasted me 5 years so you do the math. Not even worth the "Craftsman" sticker on the side.
...

I had never used an Edger before so I was leery as to how good of a job I would do...well, I did not need to worry because this Craftsman 12 Amp Edger is so easy to use that it made my task quick and simple and my lawn looked great when I was done. My neighbors all came over to see what I was using because it looked so good! I wish that I had bought one years ago instead of breaking my back using a manual Edger or shovel!

I love that it is electric and I don't have to worry if the engine will start..plug it in and go..it is a simple as walking behind the Edger and with a choice of three depths, you are on your way to having the best looking yard in the neighborhood.
...

The edger does the job but is a chore in itself to operate. It is surprisingly heavy and hard to manuever. The edger cutter casing is a little too large to see where the cutter is actually going to cut and to maintain a straight line. Price was not great, but is reasonable for what you get.
...

Used it twice so far. It works well and I have no complaints at all. It was easy to assemble and is easy to store. I guess I have been lucky with Sears/Craftsman products. I own/owned several Sears/craftsman products(washer, dryer, refrigerator, Lawnmower,Electric hedge trimmer, cordless screwdriver, Auto battery charger, snow thrower several tools etc) and so far had no problems or complaints at all. I am very satisfied with Sears/craftsman products.

It worked, not great power, but the blade is like a saw, and cuts great [while it worked].

The Bad:

Used this 4 times, the motor stopped 3/4 of the way around my sidewalk. I was careful not to tax the motor much, and it's still stopped. So basically cost $20.00 per edging for my sidewalk.

Stay clear of this one! Bought a similar with the extended warranty and it was replaced with this model. Now it is out of warranty and doesn't work. Sears didn't even stock replacement blades. Had to order online and pay shipping. Now i have two extra replacement blades with an edger that doesn't work anymore! Great buy for them, NOT ME. Going to try ********** for my next edger. Won't buy from Sears again!
...

I purchased the electric trimmer for less than $80.00 and figured it would do the job for my 60' of lawn edging. I got through the first 10' and the motor stopped. I checked the specs and decided to change the extension cord (another $45.00) it worked!!! for about five more minutes. I took it back to the local Sears and they gave me a new one. Guess what happend? This time I got 3 more feet. So in total two machines did approximately 25' of edging. I returned it again for a full refund. Piece of junk. Not worth the gas for the travel....

I like the edger, it works fine for my small edging needs. I would have given it 5 stars but I subtracted one because the blade housing clogs with mud/grass quickly, (once each use so far). It is easy to clean out so it is not that big of a deal but it would be nice if it didn't clog up so fast. If it lasts 5-7 years or more, I would buy it again in a heartbeat, only time will tell....
