I bought it Jan 09 , it's a 2008 model, Got a excellent deal. This is my first new rider.
It works perfect ,I love the Ros switch real handy when needing to back-up. Great for small, and large yards too great turning radius.I also bought the rear bragger, twin hard, love it a lot. I can't find any thing wrong with it. I have 20 hours on it
and no problems....

Really a nicely built machine. Of course, the 17 H.P. Briggs & Stratton Engine is a marvelous power plant, my last lawn tractor had a 12 H.P. B&S Engine and, with proper maintenence, it's still running after 21 years. The larger battery should provide sufficient starting power for several seasons when compared to the earlier motorcycle type batteries. The mulching blade was a snap to put on and the associated discharge blocking plate just snapped into place.
What a great price, my earlier 1988 MTD tractor was $850; What other major purchase has only gone up $150 in the last 21 years ?
The one potentially negative aspect is reliability, it is far more mechanically complex than my 88 model which could potentially lead to more repairs over the years. The extended repair warranty may be worth the money if your not mechanically inclined ! I guarantee that one drive belt change would justify the cost of the warranty !...

Bought this LT2000 tractor to replace a 16 y.o. Craftsman 21 HP 2-cylinder. Can't believe only 1 1/4 gallon gas tank. Last one was 3 1/2 gal. Also bought 14" snow plow blade, wheel weights, and chains. Used it first time yesterday to move 5"+ snow and ice. NO problem except for by the road where the town plowed in the end of the driveway, we had to shovel 3 ft. (much better than shoveling the whole thing) to get a start with the plow and take 1/2 scoop to get through. I hope this mower lasts as long as the last one. Couldn't pass up the price either $999.99. BTW the old one is still running but needs rear tires. May just get tires and add plow or wagon to it. Have not mowed yet with this one but bought wheel kit for deck, should have been included but have to spend extra for it. So far we love it. Only mowing little over 3/4 acre. Happy Trails!...

I purchased the LT2000 in July 2008 and couildn't be happier. It definetly takes the work out of mowing your
yard. The only thing to watch out for is it's real easy to
gouge the grass if the setting is too low. I had this problem
only on the left side rotary. After some minor adjustments,
The tractor does a great job. I did have a problem with the
fuel cut off switch. Other than that, It's a terrific tractor and
worth every penny. I have an acre of lawn and i'm looking
forward to spring time. Craftsman builds a great tractor and
Sears backs what they sell. It's a great combination....

After looking at other lawn tractors I settled for a Craftsman because of it's dependability. I was not disappointed. I have over 3/4 an acre of lawn and many leaves in the fall. I purchased the rear bagger with the mower. I only need to make one pass and the mower/bagger picks up the leaves without having to go over it again. I have not had a chance to mow the lawn with it yet but, I expect I will not be disappointed. The only thing is that I wish I would have spent the extra amount to get an automatic transmission....

I got mine in june 08 and was almost sad when the grass quit growing.I mow a little over an acre with it and have had not one issue with this mower. It starts quickly and reliably, runs and cuts great and even has a cup holder! And the price was great too. We bought my Father in law one a month later and he too is tickled pink.I bought and installed the bumper on both and it really looks sharp as well as protects the front end of the mower. You can buy this machine without hesitation....

I purchased this lawn tractor over the summmer. It is a good buy for the money-$999. It works good on regular grass and on FLAT areas. I would get the optional wheel kit if you are going to use it on sod. My yard has both. Once I got the wheel kit on, the yard looks just as good as a push mower. Be careful on hills...it tends to scalp them unless it is up high. The gas mileage on this engine is pretty good....

We purchased the tractor for one purpose only back in October 2008 . Hauling stuff mainly firewood, rocks and yard debree. First thing I did was remove the mower deck and purchase agraculture style tires Carliles Super Lug.

The turf saver tires do not work well on dirt and rough terrain. For hauling stuff this tractor has pently of power and the gear driven tranny has no issues with the amount of weight I am hauling....

to say that i have been pleased w/this machicne is an understatement. what used to take an hour to mow is down to 15-20 minutes!!
the big thing that you need to be careful about is letting the clutch out too quickly. having come from running a very old 5 hp ariens this was a big power leap. other than that this is a great machine!!!...

we bought our LT 2000 lawn tractor in april 2008 and wanted to use this tractor for one season to give a review. Brought the tractor home added gas and it started right up. The only thing I have done to this tractor is to change the oil and filter after 5 operating hours because Briggs & Stratton calls for this . I also greased the tractor as well because if you take care of it- it will take care of you. For the price this is a real nice tractor. it cuts the lawn well. I installed the mulching kit right away and also put on a high hitch for moving my boat in and out of the back yard. The 17.5 h.p. B&S engine has lots of power too. I also added the front bumper and have a two bin soft bagger. I expect to grt many years of fine service out this tractor....

This is the first time I have ever purchased a Craftsman mower. Every time I mow, I like this machine more and more. It has more than enough power to get the job done. Because it has no deck wheels it does have an uneven cut, especially while turning. I did buy the deck wheel kit and it has solved the problem. I could not find another mower with these features (ie. full steel frame, oil filter) for a better price. Great mower!!...

I purchased my Tractor to handle a 1 acre yard and another acre of occasional brushwork. It handles both as expected. Comfortable and nimble, the tight turning radius is a bonus. I did have the same problem getting started as previously reported with the under-the-seat safety switch not making contact. The call to the Sears Help Desk was handled quickly and efficiently and soon had me out in my yard cutting grass. Maybe it was handled quickly because it has been a more common problem than it should be....

I just bought this tractor to replace my old Craftsman of 11 years. Well, the first two days with my new tractor I had to level the deck, tighten bolts, grease fittings and place cotter pins where there was none. I never had to do that much work on my old tractor in 11 years. SO, I TOOK BACK THE NEW ONE, GOT MY MONEY BACK AND BOUGHT PARTS FOR MY OLD ONE. MY OLD ONE IS QUIETER AND A BETTER RIDE AND AM GLAD I DECIDED TO RE-FURBISH IT. MY NEXT MOWER WILL NOT BE A CRAFTSMAN BECAUSE THEY ARE CLOSING THE LOCAL "SERVICE/PARTS CENTER" IN MOLINE, ILLINOIS...
