First the good features:Powerful/cuts evenly/short turning radius/reasonable price.

Bad feature: Dangerous Clutch action. Wish it had a safe clutch and variable transmission system like my previous MTD( lasted 20+ yrs.). The clutch also regulated the speed up to the max. #6 depending on the transmissing setting (1-6). This resulted in a very smooth takeoff. Not so with the Sears Mower. If you let the clutch out normally the mower practically throws you off your seat, and if you happen to be near something it is hard to avoid hitting it. My wife and I both used the mower for a while, hoping to get used to it, but sometimes, when in certain situations we forget to be careful with the clutch, we have almost hit something. I am afraid also that being forced to let the clutch out slowly is going to wear the drive belt out very soon. Since we have used this lawn mower for a while, I didn't think Sears would take it back. My Craftsman 42 in lawn tractor is indestructible. I let my grand kids drive it around the yard often and it never fails to work. I've replaced the blades, had it tuned up by Sears and take fairly good care of it. It doesn't look brand new, but the mowed lawn still looks like a new tractor cut.

I researched numerous lawn tractors earlier this year. I spoke with friends, neighbors and colleagues to assess the value of the different models. I even tried a few out to see which ones handled the best. When all was said and done, the SEARS Craftsman 42" Lawn tractor stood out as one of the best values on the market.

It may not have been the most popular color, but it definitely cuts and saves the Green like nobody else. I have been very pleased with the performance over the past 6 months and find it extremely reliable, dependable and durable. These are three characteristics that seemed to be wanting from the various reports I read on the competition.

We had been using a lawn service for the past few years, but finally decided to do it ourselves. I highly recommend this make and model to anyone desiring to take care of their own lawn. I could not be happier.

I have a Craftsman 18 hp 42" Lawn Tractor. It's been more trouble than it's worth. The headlight assembly has fallen off, the straps holding the mulcher cover on have snapped, the bagger was a waste of money ... and now that the coil wire has literally burned away, I need to now purchase an entire Armature-Magneto assembly. I can't just purchase a $5 coil wire. Nice.

Next time (and it will be soon at this rate) I will purchase a John Deere. I'm done with Craftsman Lawn Equipment.

I purchased the Craftsman 17.5 hp 42 in Deck Lawn Tractor in 2005. In April 2009 the motor blew up right after we attempted to start it to cut the grass. The deck of this tractor appears new. Sears will not touch this. My previous tractor purchased at Lowes lasted 18 years. I will never purchase another tractor from sears. I am now without a tractor and cannot purchase another one.

This is a fun little tractor to use. It boasts the tightest 16 inch turning radius of all the Craftsman tractors.

The only one that beats it, is this year's new model, zero-turn-radius, Revolution tractor - which is at a considerably HIGHER price point than the LT-2000.

One of the very best accessories for any tractor is some type of trailer.

The store used to have FIVE of these tractors on the floor. We're now down to just the ONE...

You get a whole different perspective, while riding ABOVE it all.

And, should you "find" a rock, stick, tomato cage, it's way better sitting above the blade than walking behind the blade - if ya know what I mean.

We have had a Craftsman riding lawn mower for 20+ years and it is still running with some repairs over time.....no doubt you get your money's worth and a good job done with a Craftmans mower or lawn tractor!!! ...

32 YEARS OF MOWING AND PLOWING

We purchased our new Craftsman Lawn Mower this year to replace our old one which was purchased in 1976. The 1976 Craftsman lawn mower is still running. Every year that we owned that mower we mowed a large yard several times a week.

In the winter we attached a plow to the front of it and used it to push a lot of snow. We have a long drive from our garage to the street. Many times we helped our older neighbors to plow them out after a bad snow storm.

When we purchased that lawn mower we never imagined that we would recieve that many years of service.

We received such good service with the old mower that we wanted to replace it with a known value. We got the new Craftsman Mower and we are very pleased with its performance. It works well for large lawns, and is comfortable to ride.

We also purchased a Craftsman snow blower for easier performance for the aging user.

Our lawn tractor (big Red) plus all the accessaries are reliable and get the job done in a snap...makes it fun, too! Nice to know if we need parts or service, Sears is there. After 4 years, it has never let us down....

This is a great mower. It rides like a fancy sports car. It cuts the grass with no problems. It is awesome. It even has a place to put your drink. There is nothing like it. Two thumbs up or 5 stars!!! What a great bargain!...

I purchased this tractor primarliy to use to haul yard debris. I use it occasionally to mow with. When I first used it, I hit a rock and broke the Mandrel Housing on the right side blade. I called Sears up and they came out in a few days and repaired my mower for just a $20.00 house call. WONDERFUL! A few weeks later, I was mowing again and managed to destroy the left side Mandrel Housing this time. I called Sears again and they came out but would not repair this one for free (under warranty). Ok, no problem. It was my fault after all. So I call Parts Direct to order the replacement part and fix it myself. Well, here comes the problem. After three weeks I still don't have the Mandrel Housing that I need. I did receive two shipments of Mandrel Shafts! It seems that the parts warehouse has the shafts listed under the Mandrel Housing part number, and it is impossible (at least so far) to get some one to look at my order for a Housing and realize that a shaft is...
