Good jack for the price. But I don't trust them nor any other jack for that matter, no matter the cost. Always have a backup source to support your car or lawnmower in case a jack fails. Place a wooden or concrete block whereever you have a jack. Little extra effort is worth not being squished.
...

I bought these for a repair I needed where I would remove one of the tires. I did not own a jack stand and I thought the reason to insure the car from slipping was a good idea. These jack stands definitely do the job. Each jack comes with a pin which you must hammer in one time to keep the jack bar within the stand itself. It was a bit difficult to get the pin in but after a few strong blows with a hammer, I managed it. The jack stands are rated at 2.25 tons if you use both which should be enough for any sedan or small suv.
...

I noticed that the vertical post would wobble excessively when the post is inserted within the lower housing because of excessive clearances. This is not acceptable because it is potentially unstable. While I admit when the jack is in use, the weight of the car could potentially minimize this wobble movement, I simply do not trust it. It is going back for a Craftsman 3 ton professional grade jack stand for a mere $10 more. I am not willing to bet my life on a bottom-of-the-line jack stand just to save $10....

I needed a 2nd set of jack stands for a brake pad & rotor job on my compact sedan, and for less than $20 this set fit the bill. I was a little weary of the lower weight capacity (2.25 tons), but it's more than sufficient for most cars and small SUVs. In my case they worked out perfectly because they were the only stands that could go low enough to work w/ the max lift height of the 2 ton floor jack I was using.

Unless your vehicle is close to the 4ton mark or higher OR the frame is reasonably high of the ground, I wouldn't think twice about getting these stands. If you need a basic, "portable", floor jack as well - look for these in the combo kit w/ the Craftsman 2 1/4 ton floor jack.
...

Sturdy stands, supports the right amount of weight for my needs. I didn't want to over do it and get the larger heavy ones when my vehicle didn't require it. I can put them out of the way when I'm not using them and they don't take up much room. The only negative I have is that they were slightly corroded when I got them. They really put a light coat of paint on them when they were built. It'd probably be better to spray them with a light coat of lubricant instead of cheap paint. Other than that, they do exactly what I ask of them.
...

I found it a little difficult installing the pins that prevent the stands from falling out. Also, one stand didn't fit all the way down so I had to repeatedly hammer it down until enough metal was shaved off. Works fine now. Good "compact" size for jack stands. I wish the handle/notches would lock in more securely.
...

I have no idea what others are talking about when they are saying they have to bend metal tabs. No idea at all. I do agree on the rust, but it's only surface rust. The paint isn't very durable which I think is part of the problem.

I have used these jack stands for the past three years without issues. The locking cog is secure, which is critical. I always ratchet the stand up to position, then double-check to make sure it's locked by operating the lever. I then lower the vehicle to the jackstand to about a quarter of the weight. I checked the security again, then lower the vehicle fully.

These are fairly robust little jackstands, but I wound't go overboard with weight. I use these on my car, and that's it. I may buy an extra set for extra security as a backup or get a higher weight set for use on my truck and use these as backups.

The good thing about using an appropriately sized jackstand for your task is that their height is adequate for the job. I'd hate to get a 3...
...

I bought these jack stands so that I would be able to work at my car while I am away at college. The stands are sturdy and are a good size, and have good extension. The only "con" I would have to submit about this (which is really just a nit-picky thing) is that the locking pins to keep the sliders in the base have to be installed at home, and you need a block of wood and a hammer to install them, which I did not have readily available in my college apartment. But overall a great product! can't ask for more for the money.
...
