I bought this at the same time I bought my craftsman compressor. It works ok, but I have to admit some disappointment in that it uses more air than it should and when in a tough spot, it does not have as much power as it ought to. Now, it works fine, but I thought it would be a little tougher than it ended up being. When I get into a demanding place, I can still use it as a ratchet by hand to give it a little man power but it does not cut it alone. Sorry.
...

I work as a mechanic and got this for my growing home collection. I use it to work on my personal car and for the money I think it's a great ratchet. It works very well with the 21 gallon compressor I have and has been an appreciated addition. I have yet to find any downsides other than a slight lack in power, but for the money, I think this would be a great addition to any beginner to serious hobbiest's collection.
...

CrankcaseWilly says "Craftsman 3/8" Air Ratchet - Good Tool But Has Drawbacks" about Craftsman 3/8 in. Ratchet Wrench

The Craftsman 3/8" air ratchet was purchased in a set, combined with the 1/2" impact wrench rated at 340 ft/lbs. Both are OK tools, but I mainly bought the set (for a markdown price) for the air ratchet.

To me, air tools are a novelty and more of a hassle than regular hand tools. Sure impact wrenches are fun to use and can shear a stud bolt off in 2 seconds if you're not careful, but an air ratchet is not necessary, IMO. Convenience for taking things apart, that's about it. Some assembly can be performed with an air ratchet, but be mindful of the torque requirements of what you're tightening!

This air ratchet works well. It does a good job at a decent torque rating. At 45 ft/lbs of torque (unstalled), it is adequate for most jobs. Stalled torque is only 15 ft/lbs, however. This may be a characteristic of all air ratchets.

I think one downside is the exhaust port. Though it blows away from you, it can get oil on your hands. I have a good habit of stabilizing hand ratchets...
...

I've worked with Craftsman tools for almost 30 years now... it's all I have in my Craftsman toolbox.

I own 5 vehicles and maintain/repair them myself, and through the years, Craftsman tools have never failed me, whether working on my cars or remodeling my home.

The only reason I bought a new air ratchet was because my old Craftsman ratchet finally died after 27 years. I purchased this new one based on the experiences I've had with my original, plus the fact that this one has a rubber coating to help protect any paint surfaces, etc. I may come in contact with while working with it. It has good tourque and worked great during a timing chain replacement I recently completed.

Great tool for the money, and I'll continue being a Craftsman fan for years to come!
...

I haven't used it as much as I thought I would have, but the few times I have used, it has performed flawlessly. It's not the lightest of the air ratchets but it's fine for me as a bigger guy, the extra weight is ok. The tool is solid and hasn't skipped a beat even when doing suspension work and alternators. It has a fair amount of torque and will get into many places where it's a pain to swing a ratchet. It has hesitated on some bolts, but a firm twist of the wrist and it pops off any stubborn bolt under 1/2" My only problem with the tool is the front exhaust which has a habit of getting your off hand & your work oily but other than that, no complaints. It has been dropped more than a few times and the only thing that's come off has been the manufacturers logo which is no big deal. For the price, it's a great buy even for a mechanic on a budget
...

The air rachet I purchased was one of the best ideas I had done. The thing works great and I am pleased with it. Of course it doesn't have the torgue to break stubborn bolts loose but it is alot easier than using the normal rachet. One of the better additions to my toolbox....

I work at a mechanic shop and one of my co workers told me not to get the expensive snap on or mac tools air wrench. he said he has had his craftsman one for ten years and is still like new. i was a little worried about buying this tool but i'm glad i did. he was right. it is just as good if not better than the snap on or mac tools air ratchets and it cost almost 200 bucks less. It has a comfortable grip, delivers great tourqe, and the price is increadable. I told my co worker about it and how much it cost. he's going to buy himself another one this weekend. i will be buying many more craftsman tools in the very near future....

This tool is great. I got it for ten dollars off. I figured that I would get it for my dad for father's day. It's got lots of power, and it's easy to use. Dilemmas: Doesn't come with socket to plug it into the air hose. But that wasn't too much of a worry for me because I had a couple of spares. Also, the exhaust: excess oil comes out of it, and where it's placed, the oil sprays all over the socket, but that's only when you put fresh oil in. Let me warn you, once you've tightened a bolt, do not tighten it any more; it will grind it and make the head circular....

I've found the ratchet wrench can be very helpful because I am disabled and unable to really apply the torque that I should be able to do. This ratchet allows me to do what I normally could not do. The only problem with the ratchet is that I expected it to be a little lighter than it is. It is a little heavy even for a normal person....
