I used a friend's pistol screwdriver. I liked it so much I bought four for my many toolboxes. The tool has enough power to drive 3 inch wood screws into hardwood. I can't say how many it will drive on one charge, but I was able to drive 10 screws with no problem. It's not fast but it can still be used as a drill. The bits that are included with the tool are good for basic use. Adding a larger bit set brings out the true usefulness of the tool. That clutch feature allows for consistent tightening of screws. This helps prevent stripping out screws. The tool is small enough to get into tight places, but fits well in large hands. To reverse the tool, you only have to move your finger on the rocker switch. The only negative thing I can say is I wish I had purchased these sooner....

Anonymous says "Works for around-the-house, but too high-powered" about Craftsman 4.8 volt Pistol Screwdriver

Cons: The minimum torque (tightening power) is too high for working on computers--if I were to screw it in using this screwdriver, I may end up stripping the screw thread. Also, the bit is fixed at 1/4" hex. I have a set of screw tips which are 5/32" (5mm) and I have yet to find an adapter. It would be nice if this screwdriver had an adjustable size.

Pros: For around the house jobs, this tool is excellent. The torque fits the range needed from assembling shelves to installing doors. Size is pretty small, weighs 25 oz, and easy to use. Comes with a decent variety of bits, probably more than one would need (but does not have every desired bit size, and has 4 redundant flat screw tips). Also comes with drill bits up to 1/8". Overall, it's good around the house, but has a limited variety of bits. Due to the limited selection of bits that fit 1/4" hex, this cannot replace an actual power drill....

This little baby is mine. I purchased this for hanging curtain rods, fixing small things and because of it small size but pretty good power. I saimply stick it in the front of the towel drawer in the kitchen under a couple of towels and always know where it and it's attachments are. It's one of the best tools I have in the kitchen....

I have had this cordless screwdriver for 2 years now. We have used it for everything from hanging pictures to wall construction & computer repair & building. It is always right for the job & runs forever on a charge. Over the years I have owned many cordless screw drivers, but with the clutch & proven performance I haven't encountered one better. I plan on buying some for friends & family for gifts....

This is the second one of these screwdrivers I've purchased (the first has been repaired with new batteries after 3 years of constant use) and as long as Sears continues to provide this model I'll continue to buy it as needed.

I have to admit, I'm a very picky shopper. I purchased three different hand tools one from Skil (twice the cost, but feels and performs like a kids toy. Second, from Craftsman 7.2 volt (good features but too bulky and also more expensive ). Both of these tools never actually were used, I just opened the boxes and inspected them. So I returned both of them to the store. Then I bought the 4.8 volt pistol, WOW! it feels solid and comes with a variety of bits. I decided to purchase the extended warr. which just cost a few dollars extra. The tool performs really well. I like the torque adjustment. trust me, with just the 4.8 volts it can over tighten some scews before you know it. It has the right speed for screwing, but not quite fast enough for drilling. I wish it had LED litht. Over all, for the money, this is it! For tight areas and small jobs, when I have this tool in my hand. I say, BRING IT ON!....

I have enjoyed this little screwdriver. It is great for small jobs and the price was great. I wished that it had the Speed-Lok system to hold the bits in place.

This is a good driver for the money. Good speed. Good torque. Good battery life. Good set of bits. I also have three faults. The most important is that it is not variable speed. There is not partial position of the forward/reverse rocker switch and since the driver is quick, it picks up RPMs fast and isn't terrific for starting screws out or tightening something at risk of stripping. This brings me to my second fault. The clutch isn't reliable. I can't get it to break at any setting so it's not much good at all if you are trying to be careful. The third fault is that it doesn't have an electric brake, so once it gets spinning it takes a while for it to stop.
A great tool for the money, but a bit of a loose cannon for precision work....

I have used the 315 10165 pistol screwgun for over a year. It is the best one I've ever had (and I have had ma-a-a-any) and it makes the finest gift for any handyman or housewife. I am an industrial electrician, working in a large sawmill, and the millwrights cannot believe the speed I can produce with this small, tough and versatile tool. I bought 8 to send at Christmas for presents. I do wish I could obtain replacement battery packs for the ones that will no longer recharge. Still, at this price, I can't complain. I really like this tool!!!...

I am in the telephone business and when installing new systems, go through as many as 100 one inch wood and sheet metal screws mounting the equipment on walls. We then use them for the more delicate installation of outlets and faceplates.
I've charged it and not used it for two weeks, then pull it out and use it all day. Dropped it several times and leave it in the van on freezing nights. I purchased them for each of my employees and gave them to relatives for gifts. Terrific tool. Extremely comfortable. Can't say enough good about it. Worth every penny.
Wish there was a place in the handle to hold a couple of bits....

This pistol screwdriver is an excellent choice. It is light in weight and small in size. The best thing is the higher than usual 330 RPMs (most screwdrivers are 180 RPM), which really speeds things up. The 8 position torque setting is great.
The only minus for this screwdriver is it could have a little more torque but I think for most screwdriving applications, this tool fills the bill....
