Its a great mower so far. Only bad thing is when I went to pick it up at my local Sears it had a scratch and flat tire. But they gave me free Delivery for that. I also got the 10% online and another 10% in store so 20% off. only paid $1,359.90 So a great DEAL Thanks SEARS...

WWayne says "Decent Mower - Bad Customer Support" about Craftsman 54 in. Precision Cut Plus 24hp Lawn Tractor

Mower performs as well as I expected. Just a little slippage by tires on a small grade but nothing major. I will convert to mulching blades at end of season; it really blows the grass and dust big time through the deflector as it's currently set up. Just one minor problem; the bolt that attaches seat frame to seat bottom vibrated off, and I'll have to replace it. Would have rated this a 5 except for poor service at local Sears. They called to say pick it up; I show up and the mower has not yet been attached; the guy who readies them isn't in so I take it as is. The employees damage the rear bumper on my PT Cruiser loading the mower attachment. Letter to Sears Mgr results in NO response - shameful!...

Most of the mowers on the market that look like this one are made by MTD (Murray Tractor Division). The differances are mainly in the engine options and the mower features. The 24hp Briggs mower is a lot more quiet than the older 21hp twin cylinder model that I was replacing. It cuts very well but can choke a bit using the mulching attachment in heavy grass (common to most mowers). The bagger attachment works amazingly well. It actually seems to vaccuum the grass and fill the bins quickly. The gas indicator is a transparent portion of the tank visible just below the seat. The plastic is not clear enough to see the gas level through the plastic tank, so it is difficult to tell when you are running empty. The mower did have a spot on one fender where the paint was worn off by the shipping box before delivery. This seems to be common as mentioned in another review and I saw on a floor model unit also. The anti-scalp wheels need to be moved to lower mount holes before use but work well once......

I purchased this mower about a month ago at 1699. I also had the mulch kit installed. I have over an acre lot with some rough areas and lots of wood chips. No issues with the mulch blades at all. The mulch cover is very secure too and fits very tight, not going anywhere. Only issue I have had is the size. Need to add about another foot on to the deck for the grass chute resulting in about 66inches of clearance needed. Also doesn't cut evenly but close. We'll see how long this Craftsman branded Husqvarna lasts for a true test. Also moved 5 tons of sand box sand with no issues. Only problem I have had is that it arrived damaged with paint worn off down to the metal on the fenders from Sears Delivery....

I have mowed the yard 6 times (brand new Mower), and blades are completely worn out. 1 acre of mowing each time (95% grass cutting a few twigs) Is this reasonable wear? Other than blade wear, I am happy with the power and speed in which it cuts....

I bought the DYS 4500 / 54" cut mainly to cut grass but I've used it with much success with other attachments. I reseeded my lawn recently and had to tow a York Rake and 300 lb roller with it and there were no issues at all. The mower ran strong and did a great job! It is user friendly and seems easy to maintain. I also bought it on sale which made it an outstanding value....
