I have been doing some electrical upgrades to my home lately and needed a pair of linesman pliers. I bought the Craftsman model and I'm very satisfied with them. The pliers have a quality feel and no slop at all at the joint. I've also used them for cutting various items that they may have not been designed for but they cut fine and the jaws have no sign of wear or dulling.
...

I'm a Materials Science Engineer and I cut one of these pliers into pieces, ground, polished and etched the pieces, then looked at the microstructures. It was tempered martensite throughout the entire pair of pliers. Very good. It means it was heat treated. These pliers also conform to the ASME pliers design standard (B107.20-2004) and testing standard (B107.25-2002)... good pliers....
