This thing is huge and heavy. It takes a LONG time to put together - if you're GOOD at putting things together. Mine came with one of the sidepanels completely bent. I debated about returning it, but ended up beating it back to shape with some blocks and hammer. Once I got it going, I realized very quick that it would have no problems sucking up almost anything that could fit in the tube. It works GREAT. I have an insane amount of leafs to clean up every fall, and this makes it a breeze. I have a lot of trees to drive around which can be very difficult due to the enormous size of this thing. But it can be done, and the extra time driving around beats the heck out of doing it any other way. Unloading is difficult, the leafs don't come out without a lot of swearing at them. I also was missing a package of bolts and got a duplicate of another parts package in it's place. It confused the crud out of me during assembly, but managed to make it work with what they sent. You can't take very steep......

When I received this I was excited as I mow 3 acres of grass and have dozens of mature trees that drop their leaves in the fall. The idea is great but the assembly is awful. Many bolts and brackets were not in the box so I had to make 4 trips to the hardware store to pickup bolts or things to fabricate my own parts. Unfrotunatly due to the hours of time spent in assembly once I found that I was missing the 1st part I was half the way done so it wasn't an option to return it and start over. after about 6 hours I finally got to mounting the hose adapter to my new 50" zero turn craftsman mower only to find that they don't include a template to cut out the opening for my model even though it is the correct unit by part number to buy for it.
After making my own I cut it out and then discovered that the mounting brackets wouldn't work on the mower so I again had to buy metal and fabricate my own. Then after finally getting to use the machine while mowing my 1st pass the air cleaner assembly fell......

First off it does not weigh 1000 pounds but it does weigh close to 300 pounds. It is shipped in two cartons although the larger carton is extremely heavy. It was all the Sears employee and I could do to load it into my truck. The bottom of the box was close to coming apart. At home I just unloaded it one piece at a time. Yes assembly is required of almost everything. The only thing you don't have to assemble is the motor and blower - they come all bolted together which makes for a heavy assembly- you might need help to get this bolted up to the cart's tongue. It will go a lot faster with a fully charged battery or two for your cordless drill with a socket adapter. To Sears/AgriFab's credit almost all bolts are fastened with locknuts which makes assembly go slower and will require you to have help when installing the roof and front panel. Take your time and make sure you look closely at the diagrams and instructions. It is easy to mix up the different lengths of the 1/4" bolts. For my Troy-bilt......

Best machine I've ever purchased. I used to spend days upon days raking leaves and cleaning the bushes. I've cut my time down by over 80%. All my neighbors think it's the greatest thing ever. P.S. assembly is required but it's not difficult at all. It takes time but is easy to do!...

We have about 1 acre with pine trees, coastal oaks and the dreaded 'trees of heaven'. While we love the home and garden, every November we don't look forward to the amount of work required to keep the lot fire safe and free of leaves. We'd spend weekends raking up nearly 1 ton of garden waste, piling it up and hauling it off to the dump or paying someone else about 60% of the cost of this product to do it for us each year. If you're remotely unsure about whether this shredder vacuum will work as represented take my advice and buy it - it does! After a few unsuccessful attempts to buy it online with the Store Pickup option (our orders were canceled due to out of stock), we selected Home Delivery and successfully placed the order just after Thanksgiving and saved enough to buy the remote hose kit. Sure, it takes 2-3 hours to assemble, but its hardly rocket science and you only have to do it once. We have an older model 14 HP 37" Craftsmen lawn tractor and it handles pulling this with ease,......

DO NOT buy this piece of equipment unless you are a
mechanic. It weighs about 1,000 lbs and comes in 300
pieces. Sears DOES NOT ASSEMBLE LAWN EQUIPMENT.
Sears.com said that I am responsible for mailing it back.
IT NEEDS A FORKLIFT TO GET IT ON A TRUCK!!!!!!!
Buying lawn equipment from Sears.com would not be
recommended by me....

2.5 acres and whatever is lawn has many many trees around it. Fall cleanup usually takes tarp after tarp full of leaves and dragging them off into the woods. With this sweeper it becomes a clean and thorough job. What I appreciate most is that it sucks up the acorns and hickory nuts that make it impossible to grow grass around the trees. Don't fool yourself it will still take some effort even with the sweeper. It is a beast of a machine and requires some setup and teardown for each use. You will also want a place to store it - it does take up some space. The only negative is with the attachment to the mower deck. Even with a near perfect cut using the provided template (a dremel tool works well to do this!) the fit is still a bit funky and cumbersome. You will need to remove the guard to attach the sweeper - this can be a MAJOR pain to reinstall the guard when you want to mow without the beast in tow (if you keep just the housing provided without the hose you will be eating your clippings......

I have many trees and cannot use this behind the mower as the hose gets in the way, and the cart can be unstable on unlevel ground. The hose seems to clog quite often, requiring the clamp to be removed and the hose cleaned out by hand. I do have a lot of pine straw and maybe it might work better on leaves. It will take you a day to put together, as the only part that does not have to be put together piece by piece is the engine (although you do have to attach it to the cart with somewhat vague instructions). I ordered the optional hose and 6 weeks later it is still on backorder....

I have around 1 acre with 10 large silver maples (propellers and massive amounts of leaves) and I have historically used a 3 bin bagger. The bagger takes me approximately 16 hours to pick up all the leaves in my lawn and about 160 bags! Using the vacuum I did my yard in 2 hours and I am spoiled.
Putting together took some time but overall was straightforward. It is a good idea to measure 3 times and cut once on the deck adapter since accounting for curves in your cutting deck is tricky at best. Even if you cut it poorly the vacuum has enough suction to pull all the clippings and the clippings stuff any gaps that may exist.
Make no mistake-this is a must have attachment not just for leaves but also good if your grass gets too long and you don't want excess clippings.
Downside is it's heavy and bangs up the tractor hitch pretty good but so far nothing but some dents and scrapes.
Summary-don't waste your time, get it and you'll wonder why you went without it! Great value and quality construction!!......

With just over an acre of land surrounded by trees I spent many hours in the fall cleaning up leaves. I used everything to make the job easier but buying the yard vac was the best decision I have ever made. You need a tractor that can pull it and a place to store but after one pass across the leaf covered yard your hooked. I can now clean the entire yard covered in leaves in no time at all. Features I like: large capacity bin, easy dumping, great suction. I wish I bought this 6 years ago. I now plan to buy the wand....
