I have a cabinet building and furniture refinishing business of 30 years and have owned this compressor for about 6 plus years. I have put this compressor to the ultimate test a number of times, and it is still running fine. There are a few minor pitfalls to this compressor, and they ARE pretty minor. Sandblasting from a small sandblaster (20 gal) will over heat the motor is used constently. Let it cool, hit the motor re-set switch once it has cooled, and your back in business. Next, if you have a 15 amp circuit and have other things running on the same circuit, the circuit pops easily, as the amp draw from the compressor is big. I recommend a 20 amp circuit for 110V. The last pitfall of this is the switch has gone bad on me twice, but is an easy re-install. It's around $50 for the switch, but that is cheaper than a new compressor....plus it has only done it twice in a number of years with me using it HARD. I sand blast, spray finish and paint, run body tools etc. and it keeps...
...

I found this craftsman air compressor at a reduced price out at Arrow Head Mall. I was going to give it to my brother for Christmas, But after taking it out of the box, and putting it too gather for him, and starting it up, I fell in love with it. So need less to say I keep it. To replace my Husky Generator. It is now one of the most used tools in my shop. What a great air compressor for the money!! If I ever need a new one, I will pay full price for this generator in a hart beat!! Sincerely: Another satisfied Sears Customer.
...

JoeyJingles says "One compressor you should consider" about Craftsman Professional 25 gal. Air Compressor, 1.8 hp, Horizontal Tank

Since I began trimming houses in the 1970's I have owned and used Craftsman compressors. This Craftsman professional 25 gallon and 1.8 HP is maybe the best yet.

This compressor is maybe the quietest unit I have ever owned. On the jobsite noise pollution is a major stress factor so anytime you can reduce your exposure is good. The 25 gallon tank is large to store energy before needing to resupply so work can progress faster. Everything I need a compressor for has been done by this jewel without complaint.

In my opinion a horizontal tank is easier to be mobile with either across your property or especially to remote job sites. The Craftsman Pro has a very nice handle and the wheels absorb shocks caused by uneven ground reducing the pounding your body takes in a day. I also like the way it loads into a van or truck for transport.

This is a very nice compressor with the Craftsman name. Nuff said !
...

I've seen some reviews for this stating it doesn't come with oil and that a few have ruined the compressor motor by starting it up without oil. Mine arrived with oil and I read the manual before starting it and the manual states it already has oil. Maybe Sears made some changes to alleviate warranty repairs. So far this compressor works great and seems to outperform my Craftsman 4hp oiless compressor that I had for over 12 years. It is much, much quieter and I can place it right next to the doorway leading from the garage to my home without any concerns about the sounds of it running. It also holds pressure very well and I have not noted any leaks whatsoever. It will crawl across the floor while running due to some vibration but then again my oiless unit did the same thing. My floor is painted and might be a little more slippery than just plain concrete. I blocked the tires to keep it from moving around. All in all I really like this compressor and looking forward to it lasting...
...

I bought this compressor a coule of years ago because it was on clearance after someone else returned it, was shopping for an oilless one but I glad I found this one instead. it is way quieter than my buddies 33 gal oilless and the 2 stage compressor can actually keep up with my tools and not just run constantly, I was worried about the 25 gallon tank not being big enough but it seems to be fine, I may find another tank to plumb in line just for a bit more capacity. the only complaint I have had is that it draws alot of amps on a 120v outlet, it won't even think of starting up on anything less than a 15 amp breaker, it can be wired for 220 which would make it draw alot less amps.
...

I'm new to owning a personal compressor, so I did a lot of talking and researching and found that the oil type compressors are much better than the oil-less style.

Sears was having a sale on this model so I purchased. When it arrived a week later at my local Sears the box was DESTROYED! so I made the manager remove and assemble the compressor, we tested and verified that it held air for 2 hours while I shopped - it worked so I took it home (minus box)

I've been very happy with it - I've used it to build a wooden shed, a firewood storage area, nailed together a 1 acre stockade fence (the reason I wanted a compressor in the first place) and have a interior trim nail gun on order for inside work.
You will need to invest in a "no-longer-than 50 foot" 8, 10 or 12 wire gage extension cord according to the users manual, the supplied cord is no more than 3 foot, just high enough to reach a socket.
No problems, no leaks, holds pressure. What more can I ask for?

bought one of these a few years ago. used ocassionally in the garage to do small stuff like tires, suspensions, timing belts etc.... over the last few years since it was bought brand new it has MAYBE 100 hours on it. turned it on few weeks ago and it started to spit out oil and smoke from the oil dipstick getting all over the floor. for the $$ they sell these for it should have a much better warranty but they know these are JUNK and wont last for more than a few years at best. i would rather pay more for an american product using american parts, support american workers and i know the compressor will actually last. if it says 'made in china' dont pay much for it because it will certainly have a short life span.

This is a first for me, I have never written a review before, but I thought I had to for this compressor. When you buy a new car, you would expect to be able to just drive off the lot with out reading the owners manual. When you buy a drill, you would expect to pull the trigger and it works. With this compressor you can almost do that, but I had no idea that it did not come with oil. (I will have to go buy some today) Maybe you could have put a bottle of oil in the shipping box. Your whole sale cost would be cheep, and save the buyer tons of money.

I live in a two bedroom condo. I have under ground parking with no place for a work shop. So I did the next best thing... I turned one of my bedrooms into a work shop. When I run the table saw, it can be heard out side. When I run the compressor, it is so quite, out side can not hear it at all. Not only do I use the compressor in my work shop, I can put a 50 foot hose on, a be able to blow the dirt and dust out from behind the washer, dryer...
...

I wanted an oil lubed belt driven compressor due to the longevity and quietness over the oil-less ones. Using a generic impact gun I can take off all 20 lug nuts on my car without the compressor kicking back on. Once it does it takes a few minutes to fill back up. This is about the biggest compressor you can get that will run on 120v.

I bought it on sale for around $360+ tax. An awesome deal....

I've only owned this for a month and used it to replace the shocks on my car using a 1/2" IR impact wrench. The compressor is pretty quiet and doesn't seem to kick on too much. It comes on around 140 and off around 160. I broke it in per the instructions and have it running on a 30amp breaker. So far, so good, and I trust (for the price paid) it will still be kicking years down the road....

I have had this compressor for over a year and I have not had any major trouble with it. I bought the oil that was not included and followed the break-in exactly as the owner's manual said. I think they must have lied about the cfm for this model. All of the air tools I bought were rated at or below the required cfm for this compressor but it can never keep up. It was only used for light duty projects. It is a fairly quite machine but not when it runs non-stop. It does not leak air, it just does not put out much. I would recommend a compressor with a bigger tank at least. If you want a bigger motor, you will have to run on a 220 outlet. My breaker never tripped at first, but now the compressor trips it every time and it needs to be replaced. I wish I would have bought a different model....

I bought this compressor and am happy with it. It's large enough to do most jobs and powerful enough to recover quickly. However my compressor leaks air somewhere and trips a 20 amp breaker so something is wrong with it. I called the sears warranty line and they are sending someone out to look over it. Hopefully they can fix it because I do like it, for the $$ I think it's a very well built and powerful compressor....

It got up to pressure rapidly and stopped of 155psi. It has held at 150psi for four days now. Not one leak or malfunction of any kind. I'm very pleased with this purchase. Bought it on sale and with the Tool Club discount it was a few cents under $400....

I owned an oil free compressor for two years prior to buying this compressor. Nobody tells you how loud the oil free compressors are. When the motor turns on you want to walk out of the garage to escape the noise. This compressor is very quiet. You can carry on a conversation while it is running. It recovers fast and will run any tool the average "do it your selfer" cares to run. The tank is large enough to run high volume tools, yet small enough to move around easily. I replaced the tank drain valve with a t-handle valve which is much easier to open and close compared to the round one that comes with it. I would recommend this compressor...

Got this compressor about 1 month ago and have used it extensively on the weekends.

The thing to understand is this is not a huge compressor and will not run a DA or impact non stop for any amount of time, what it does do is provides sufficient volume and pressure for most do it yourself task around the house with power to spare. The compact size has allowed me to tuck it under the stairs leading into the house completely out of the way.

Pros:
Easy to assemble
Quiet - can't hear it in the house
Keeps up with my pace of work with any air tool

Cons:- all very minor, hardly worth mentioning
Regulator is finicky
Power switch is misleading, you think it is off but it it not....
