ValleyViewPTO says "Best accessory for router ever!" about Craftsman Router Table

My husband had purchased a Craftsman router and while he was satisfied with the router itself, it was difficult to make the cuts without having to clamp and re-clamp the wood or have me help him. When he found the router table it was amazing how quickly the process went! The table is so useful and easy to use! Once assembled the table allows you to raise and lower the router to specified depth and has a power outlet on the table for a vacuum to be plugged in for dust to be minimized, and will turn the vacuum on and off with the power button on the table! This is a must have item for routers!...

I am a weekend hobbyist and an artist, designer, innovator by heart, but never a professional craftsman. But, despite of my novice capacity, I am able to create near professional, if not professional-quality workmanship using the right tools such as the Craftsman Router Table. Recently, I helped my college son design and build a launching device for their Mechanical Engineering project, and the Craftsman Router Table helped me a lot in cutting accurately channels, holes, and all sorts of shapes, into the device that we were able to achieve a functional contraption that coveted them second place in the competition (they could have gotten first place from the popular vote if not for a minor flaw in the design, which the judges promptly deducted from their score).

The only complaint i have is that the screws to mount the router came up short and won't reach into the router. So, I have to get a similar size screw, but much longer in length and cut it to size so I can mount the router. Nevertheless,...
...

Not something the pros would use on a daily basis but for someone like myself (the basic "spend the weekend in the garage" hobbiest) It works out just fine. Holds the router straight and smooth on top. Thats all I was really looking for.

The only thing I would change is the addition of threaded rubber feet for bench top use when you dont want to bolt it to your work bench. I picked some up, put them through the holes for screwing it to your bench and put a nut on top and it worked out pretty well.
...

horsetool says "Ok for the price..." about Craftsman Router Table

Overall, this is a good little router table. I got it on sale plus an online 10% discount so I couldn't pass it up. It does have issues, though. First, the screws that hold the T Square track in are not flush with the bottom of the track. So you can either grind the screw heads down flush, or get a countersink bit and ream the screw holes out a bit deeper until the screws sit flush (which is how I fixed it).

Second, the fence is not accurate. It's made entirely of plastic, and mine bowed inward just slightly no matter how I tried to adjust it. I ended up putting a piece of angle iron across the top edge of the fence to stiffen it up and pull it straight, plus I added some aluminum stock to the back of the outfeed side. It's much better but still not deadly accurate. Good enough for non-critical jobs, though. Long story short, it's worth the price but don't expect NASA accuracy with it...

The switchable outlets are a nice feature. You can hook your shop vac up to it so when......

Router table is ok for the price but, the fence is a pain to set and get just right. There are two knobs that really should be set simultaneously for accuracy and that is not an easy thing to do and keep your fence measurement accurate...It works for small projects but, would not be very effective for large pieces of material running through. Like the multiple plug ins for one botton starts though!...

Don't spend alot on a table. Save your money for bits and measuring tools. This table has everything you need, a sturdy fence, a flat table, and a dual outlet on a switch and a vacuum hookup.

I don't buy Craftsman because I think they are the best tools. There are better ones but Craftsman has the best tool at the price point that I am willing to pay. This gives me more quality tools than I would have if I only bought the top of the line in every tool considering my budget. About 85% of my tools are Craftsman.

This was my first router table. I have had it for several years and built a lot of projects with it. It performs well for the price but It does have its limitations. Mainly the mount for holding work in a vertical and moving it across the router bit. It is not a snug fit to the fence so the work will tilt unless you hold it just right. This make it difficult to use when making tenons because you can't get an accurate shoulder cut.

The scales on mine are right on but I usually don't use them as I prefer to make my own measurements and mark them on the table top. The vacuum...
...

I have never owned a router table. For me, this router table is a great first buy. I looked at router tables for over two years, but the prices were very high and I did not know what I wanted/needed. Late May 2010, my wife was shopping at Sears and I walked through the tools to kill some time. This router table was on sale with free router bits. A great deal I could not refuse. To date, I have used the table several times. My son is currently making a wooden storage box. I recommend this to any first time router table buyer. It is basic, but allows me to accomplish the tasks I need to do. It is inexpensive. This router table allows me to use its features and then, one day, when I know what features I need, buy a more expensive router table with more feature. Finally, I bolted the router table to a 3/4 inch plywood board and clamped the board to my work table to solve any stability issues.
...

Good for the money(if on sale) if you just need something to get the job done. I might suggest , if you want something a little more solid, to remove the base, and install your own. Ie: use only the alunimum table top. I did this with mine and installed it on an old Workmate bench, very solid.

Be sure the screw holes fit your router if possible. Doesn't fit with my Freud, unless I make it fit with new holes....
