We have owned 2 of these Ice makers. Our experience has not been good. You can expect this machine to last until the warranty runs out. Both of ours lasted 1 1/2 years at the most. I am now on this site looking for a different brand name. The Danby Co. doesn't stand behind their products ANYTHING past the warranty....even 1 day! We had 1 of ours fixed and it lasted another 3 months and it was down again. When we took it in for repairs, when it 1st broke down, the repair company had our machine for almost a YEAR, before it was returned to us. During that time, we had to buy another 1, in order to have any ice. We DID NOT buy it from Sears or K-Mart. Also, the repairs cost just less than a NEW 1 !! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE. Please don't use these comments against Sears or K-Mart, as they have NOTHING to do with the makings of this product.
...

I had it for about 6 months and started having problems. The ice will not drop. Then the water would fill up again not drop. I would have a big plock of ice that I would have to use warm water to get it out. I called Danby and they told me to call Coffmans since it was still under warenty. Coffman's never showed up and Danby did nothing about it. I still have it after 2 years and I have to manully drop the ice myself about an hour before we eat or need ice. I would not by this brand ever again. Oh, and it stop changing ice size. I like the small but it only does med....

I bought the Danby Portable Ice Maker about one and half months ago. I use is everyday and it works great. I can't believe how fast it makes ice. The system has three different ice sizes and it is really easy to use. I have not had any problems at all with this ice maker....
