This is a great charger for home use. I use it on my lawnmower batter as a trickle charger in the early spring to get the mower battery up to snuff for the summer. As my mower battery is now 10 years old I am very happy. It also does a good job on a dead car battery to get a quick jump when another car isn't around.
...

This is the second DieHard chargers that went dead on me. I don't use a charger much. Just for topping off batteries and such. The latest one fails to get to 12V (stopping at ~9V). Too cheap to bring back to the shop for repair.
...

well, my grandfather has had it for 5 years now. so i decided to get one. when they had a sale on them i got one. i got it home and the side was all dented. but i it was still usable. i needed it on my truck, as that the batteries were old, and it was a Cummins Diesel. it worked great... i put it on 10 amp for an hour for the secondary battery, and a blast of 50 amp while cranking on the primary. so here we are not even a year after i got it. my tractor was dead, so i hooked er up and threw it on 10 amp, and it buzzed loud, (audible up to 25 feet away) i came back and the full charge LED was lit. so i disconnected and hopped up into mah trakter and it turned over twice, then nothing. so i hooked it back up and threw it on 50 amp. immediately the LED illuminated and the tractor STILL wouldnt turn over, i said screw it and jumped it with my truck... well i put the charger mack into the box and put it back ij the garage, until today, when my negibors plowing lawn tractor wouldnt start....
...

I think that this is a great charger because i've had one myself for years so I know she will be happy with it
It's good as a quick charge and as a trickle. It charges everything that I possibly need to be charged....

I purchased this charger along with two deep discharge marine batteries that I use to power a winch. The winch is based on a truck starter motor. The winch is used to launch radio controlled sailplanes which have a wing span of 6-12 feet. A launch can pull anywhere from 250 to 500 amps for a period of 5 to 15 seconds. So the batteries take a beating.

The charger does an excellent job of recharging them AND maintaining their charge level. They never go in a car or boat so this is the only charge method.

I find the meter useful and like the green light that indicates fully charged. I only have to glance at the charger to know that my battery is fully charged and ready to go.

I have never used the 50 amp position.

When not in use, the power cord and charge cord store easily on the back of the charger.
...

OldGeek59 says "Not Craftsman Quality - Save your money" about DieHard 10/2/50 amp. Automatic Battery Charger

Years ago you could buy a Craftsman Battery Charger and it would last 20 years. I have a friend who has one his grandfather gave him.

I bought this charger when it was not on sale so I paid retail. I saw the reviews and it got good reviews on this site. I have had the charger about a year and have used it 5 or 6 times to charge my lawn mower battery and twice to charge the car battery. Got it out the other day to charge the battery in the lawn mower and it would not charge. Tried both car batteries and the charger just buzzes without putting out a charge. Borrowed my neighbors cheap Chinese charger he bought for $20 from the big box tool store. His charger is 6 years old and worked flawlessly. Wish I would have Googled instead of reading the flawed reviews here. Google shows thousands of people who had problems with these chargers.

Tired of Craftsman quality going to crap since some big shot investor took over as CEO -- with no experience in retail. No wonder Sears and Kmart......

I've read every review on this charger and what struck me the most was the fact that I appear to be the only person who can't make any sense out of the charger meter. What planet did the designer of this meter come from?

There appears to be charge rates indicated along the bottom of the meter marked 0.. 2.. 4.. 6.. 8.. 10.. and 12, which is a bit strange for a charger that has advertized rates of 2 amps, 10 amps and 50 amps.

Then there is the long rectangular bar at the top of the meter with the left 2/3rds of the bar colored green and the right 1/3 side colored red. The green portion is labeled "2 Amp Rate" and the right (red) side is marked "Start". If that isn't confusing enough, there is a pie shaped sliver of red within the green area, which more or less lines up with the 2 amp rate indicator at the bottom of the meter.

To round out the mass confusion of this meter there is a Charge% line just below the green and red rectangular bar. The markings begin at about the halfway point...
...

I've had this charger for several months and I've used both all three amp settings.

The charger worked great, I loved it and would buy another one. The problem was it slipped out of my hands and a switch came apart. This should not have happened, upon surveying the problem I found that the hold down ears on the switch had not been pressed down enough. The main problem was when I tried to get a new switch I was told that the part was no longer offered, I could not find it anywhere. Yet when I went to the store guess what; there the charger was and still had the same switch on it. to no avail the switch could not be found. The charger was only dropped about two feet from the shelf to the top of the work bench....

Got it on sale for a reasonable $40 and have used it to jumpstart cars and bikes many times in the 50A mode. Haven't used the trickle charger but the 10A 12 volt charger with auto shutoff is fast and convenient. A necessity for any mechanic....

I purchased this battery charger via the website and selected 'in-store pickup' . This was very simple. I, like most people, do NOT have a printer at home so I was unable to print a scan ticket . . . I went to customer service - who sent me to the loading dock pick up area . . . the loading dock area made several attempts to find my purchase (I used a gift card - so they could not use that number to find it). After several minutes and three Sears employees efforts - someone looked at the ticket and said "Oh, this needs to be picked up over in automotive". . . . I traversed the store for a third time to the automotive service and the guys says " Yep you came to the right place - I pulled that first thing this morning." I am very pleased with the product - but Sears should order something from ************ Parts online and see how the process should work!...

I left my lights on overnight and work up to a dead car. I walked to Sears and bought this. I hooked it up and set it to the 10 amp setting for twenty minutes and then disconected it and started up the car. I drove the car into the garage and left it charging for another 6 or so hours. I am very pleased. The only complaint is the instructions are not clear to people who don't know about cars. How am I supposed to know if my battery is low maintenance or maintenance free or deep cycle? I just guessed maintenance free and it worked so... I would have to say I am very satisfied.
...
