This vacuum is great particularly for houses without wall-to-wall carpeting. We have wood or tile floors with area rugs and it does a great job with all of our needs. The carpet attachment uses the vacuum suction to power the beater brush and therefore is not as powerful as a motorized beater brush. Just the same, it works well for our needs. We generally use other attachments anyway, for cleaning corners, under cabinets and furniture, overheads, etc. etc. For all those purposes it's fantastic and on hard floors, the other floor attachment (no beater brush) works really well. The adjustable power level on the handle is very handy. Best of all - NO BAGS! - and the dust canister removes and empties very easily. We looked at several other canister vacs at the Sears store and they really didn't offer much more than this except the motorized beater brushes -- and were much more expensive and used bags. This is the deal.

The only complaint is that the beater brush attachment...

This Dirt Devil 12amp Vacuum has ample power for short carpet and flat surfaces. It is small enough to get to most cramped places around my studio....

The functionality of this vacuum is great. I loved using it when I had it. BUT the cord would get extremely hot, to the point you can not touch it. Then the cord would contract back into the vacuum and would come out the wall while I was running it. I did not purchase this vacuum again, so maybe I had a bad one....

This vacuum was not what the reviews said. It did not even leave marks in the carpet were I vacuumed. I also vacuumed my bathrugs which I could never do with a vacuum that actually had any suctution power. I would not recommend this if you want something that actually sucks up dirt by something else....

You will not find another canister at this price point that will hang with the M082700D. We have all hardwoods and an indoor Lab that drops enough hair every week to make another dog. On full power, this thing will pull hair off the baseboards from a couple inches away with the regular floor head. The beater brush works pretty well on the rugs as well but we usually use the upright anyway. The wheels are nice and soft and you will not have to worry about marking your floors. The handle is a great design that has the power/level switch on the handle and it is designed so that the hose connects below the actual part you hold so it is very easy to handle. Those who complain about cord length do not realize why it is shorter than some other units. This is a high power (12A) motor and as such requires a certain gauge wire to safely handle the current and it also cannot be over a specific length for the gauge. This causes an issue of storage since the cord is conveniently retractable which only......

Love this canister, it has a lot of suction without the blow back I have experienced with other similar types of vacuums. The filter system works well and it is easy to empty and clean. This little vacuum is the best for the buck I have ever seen. I have pets with lots of shedding, this has saved me much grief....

My purchased replaced a bulkier upright DirtDevil. I love the new cannister vacuum! Easy to handle and use, all components work well. Unbelievable how much it picks up. I empty it after every use. No overheating of this vacuum no matter how long I seem to run it. Works well on carpets, throw rugs and bare floor. So happy I purchased it!!...

Have not had this long, but I love it! I have a Himalayan cat (loooong hair and much of it) and this vacuum cleaner has proved to be all it was advertised to be. It is light-weight, easy to use - love the control on the handle. I don't think you would be disappointed. I just wish I had gotten the now-lower price!...

I got this on sale and used gift cards to get gas at Giant Eagle so I only paid $120 and got shipment to the door.Replaced another Dirt Devil until I can find brushes for the motor.That model lasted 2 1/2 years of every other day use due to road construction.This model is easier to use with the speed controls on the wand but it is messy to empty and the filter and canister need cleaned often for best performance.I had no problem cleaning the beater brush when it got clogged,remove the pins holding the rollers then the screws....

Excellent cleaner...spent twice as much on a hoover a few months b4...this little baby cleans rugs, floors and throws. My throws look like they were washed..I have two cats so pet hair is an issue, or I should say WAS an issue. This little baby is better than more expensive cleaners by far and easy to use. HIGHLY RECOMMEND..end your search here :)...
