After 6 months I am very dissappointed. The 14 year old Profile that this thing replaced did a better job getting dishes clean.</p> <p>- The black finish is heavy orange peel certainly not what one would expect on a $1200.00 appliance</p> <p>- The door gasket leaks</p> <p>- The detergent low indicator does not work</p> <p>- Dishes dont get as clean as with my old machine</p> <p>- The stainless steel interior of the door is looking bad, stains are building.</p> <p>There are only two persons living in the household so the machine is certainly not being overused. I wish I had not bought this appliance it was a very expensive mistake.</p>... It is, by far, the worst dishwasher I have ever owned. The standout problem is that it doesn't clean dishes. Even if washed and rinsed ahead of time (and that is very necessary) they come out dirtier than when placed inside. The built-in design is quite quiet, but this is actually a problem. There are no dials or lights outside to tell a user if the machine is working or finished, so it has to be opened to check. There was a very serious sparking requiring a service call to fix a shorted wire in the door. An automatic dishwasher liquid feature uses the soap very fast, way faster than if you had to add it with each wash. Useless feature that works poorly, at best. The snap-open door for soap powders doesn't open reliably, so the cycle has to be repeated often. The racks are cheaply made and the tines do not stay up when used to separate dishes. The utensil bins have had to be roped together since they are falling apart. There is no...</p>... The entire Profile line is quiet, efficient and user friendly, so we knew we could expect good value for our money. However, the detergent autodispenser was a very pleasant surprise for us; the first filling left a bit of overflow, but after breaking it in with the initial load, the add-on is working perfectly and is so nice to have...you can fill it once with almost a whole bottle, and it lasts for a huge number of uses. We got the new washer a month ago and we haven't refilled the autodispenser yet! That's saying a lot for a family of five!</p>... Very quiet, you almost don't know it's running when in use. Quiet Power 5 is a huge improvement over our old Profile which had Quiet Power 3. Big difference in noise level, really no comparison. If you want it quiet, get one with Quiet Power 5. Easy to use, a lot of room inside for all types of dishes. Have not used the SmartDispense, so we cannot comment on that feature. Looks like a good idea for those who use liquid dishwasher cleaner. Cleans dishes fantastic, no spots. We use a generic rinse aid and Cascade Action Packs. Very satisfied with cleaning ability. Stainless interior looks and performs well (won't discolor like white plastic tubs after years of use, I assume). Stainless shows fingerprints, but most stainless and black appliances do also. We never had a problem with our old GE Profile after 6 years of a lot of use, so we feel confident recommending this GE Profile dishwasher....
