I bought it at the end of February, and it died by Labor Day. The fact that it has only a 90 day warranty should have been a warning. I guess Kenmore quality ain't what it used to be. Even when it worked, it didn't keep things very cold....

I hate when things not onl don't work as you expect but they are brand new and you figure by now no one would out right design and build something really stupid. I can not for the life of me figure out what to do with a fridge which is not a fridge. Does not - will not keep anything cold....

Got this little sucker for college. Worst purchase ever. Not only is it luke warm in ideal conditions, it reeks. The fridge smells so strongly of plastic and chemicals, it seeps into and saturates my food and drink and makes everything completely inedible and disgusting. The smell is horrid, and it lingers in the room. I'm honestly afraid to open the fridge. What in the world is wrong with this thing? I've tried a vinegar wash, I've tried a baking soda wash, I've even purchased deodorizers for it and nothing has improved. I'd sooner use the suite fridge and have my food stolen than use the Galaxy and have it ruined. At least somebody would get to enjoy it.
...

I purchased this product in December 2007 (1 year 9 months) which I used as a lunch / drinks holder in my office. But last Friday, the refrigerator took a turn for the worse. The refrigerator started making this loud humming noise, and stopped cooling all together. I should clarify that this refrigerator does not make anything "COLD" (does not have a compressor), it just keeps items cooled, so for a couple of bottles of water and my occasional bring from home lunches, it was adequate. Not sure what the problem is, but now im stuck, since the warranty is for only 90 days.

Checked sears.com/parts, and the parts alone (labor is extra) that I suspect need replacement (pcb temp - $15.49 and fan - $ 29.49) total more than half of the cost of a new refrigerator, provided i make the repairs myself. Not sure its worth repairing at this time.

Sears should remove "Refrigerator" from the title. It is very misleading, since this is a cooler, not a refrigerator.

On the positive side, when I went to pick it up, the sales clerk told me about the limitations of the unit and the manager at my store upgraded me to the next size up Kenmore mini fridge at no charge.

I purchased the Galaxy 1.7 cu. ft. Compact Refrigerator in January 2008 and it died in April 2009...just months after the 1 year manufacturer's warranty.

I agree with multiple others' reviews - The fridge could only drop the temperature of the soda/beers 20 degrees or so, never "cold" even after leaving the cans in overnight.

It was incredibly quiet, but now it is too quiet all together....

The Galaxy 1.7 cu compact refrigerator works quite well for me and my officemate. It fits nicely under my credenza/desk, and is not noisy at all. I was wary because other reviews had stated that it doesn't keep things cold enough, but I've never had issues with that in the last couple of months (purchased in early Feb. 09).

Primary downside: it doesn't have a freezer section (I know other minifridges of this size sometimes do)... so no Lean Cuisines at work for me.
Secondary downside: it's white, which is not the prettiest appliance color. But, how fashionable can an office cubicle be, anyway?

Overall, as a person who likes to "live" at the office (i.e. I have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks all available in my cubicle), I am quite happy with this minifridge.

Disclaimer - I am an employee of Sears Holdings, and I did get the associate discount on the item plus splitting it with another person. But I do find it quite useful....

It is very cute. It works very well. It keeps items colder than my big fridge. It is very inexpensive compared to similar models. If you want a mini fridge, don't hesitate, this one is great. It has adjustable shelves to fit large items....

This fridge does not work. It is designed to operate at 20-25 degrees below room temperature at the max cold setting - says so right in the manual. That's not cold enough to keep many foods from spoiling, especially dairy. Unless you are keeping it in a very chilly room, don't buy it!...

Like carmazon, maybe I got the anti-lemon. Everything is always cool. I'm just using it as an in-the-office under-the-desk refrigerator to hold a week's worth of lunch-sandwich tomatoes and an occasional drink. I can keep fruit in there as well. It takes a couple days to get "cool", if you add warm-stuff it may take a day to get cool again, if you open the door more than a quick-grab it won't recover for an hour. So NO! you should not be keeping milk in it, nor using it in any warm area, or opening it dozens of times a day. It is a gentle slow chill, not the brutal cold of a Freon machine. Understand that and you may be very happy....
