<p>I bought this Kenmore 15000 BTU multi-room air conditioner to cool off my small two bedroom apartment and it does that wonderfully. For such a large unit it is rather quiet and keeps the place very comfortable. However my issues are with the quality of the installation hardware that came with the unit. The first step in installing this unit to your window is to mounth these "L" Shaped brackets to your exterior window sill. These brackets are two peices and are adjustable and have a slot were the carriage bolt slides through. However the slots on my brakes were about 2mm too narrow for the square part of the carriage bolt to slide through. I'm not sure if the paint/powder coat closed this gap too much. Also the nuts that were supplied to attach to these bolts were "hollow" cheap nuts that I've never seen before that barely thread onto the bolts. Then these L shaped brackets are supposed to attach to the underside of the A/C casing were there are predrilled holes along the...</p>...

<p>Bought model 75151 in Aug 2008. Used it for 3 weeks to cool one room in my summer home in 2008. Removed the unit from the window and stored it in the bedroom for the winter. This year, 2009, I installed it in the wall where another Sears AC had died after 6 years use and two repair calls to Sears. All electrical related problems too. So far this year, 2009, the unit has been used for 6 weeks. The Warranty is for 1 year and now it has big problems. The electronic temperature control setting is broken. The unit runs without stopping no matter how warm I set the tempeture making the house into an icebox. After just 1 year and 1 week and only 9 weeks of use it is now broken. I now have experience with 5 Sears AC's that just don't make the grade any longer. Have a small 5,400 BTU unit that broke in 8 weeks use after just 2 years. I replaced the computer board for $54 and got it working again. But only for 3 more weeks of use in 2008 and the same board broke...</p>...

I've had an 18,000 btu in my old house and it worked great although as an electrician I had to add a 220 circuit because of it's size. When I bought the house I live in now it had a 14,000 btu air conditioner so I kept it.
I bought this new air conditioner from Sears and had it installed because of a serious back injury.
I was so impressed that this 115 volt multi-functional A/C unit on the power saver setting is keeping my whole 1260 sq. foot house at the 74% setting.
The fan puts out at least 2-3 times more air than the 14,000 btu unit I took out.
All I can say is buy it!!!!
I am going to save the old unit to supplement the new unit if the temps start creeping above 90%.
I am extremely happy with this purchase and it saved me a bunch of bucks because I was thinking about central air that would have been in the neighborhood of about $5-6,000 bucks.
For any of the negative reviews I've read i guess I got lucky because it's plenty quiet probably because it's in the dinning room quite a distance......

I like the unit except it cuts on all the time.Very noisy, every 2 minutes or less it's running. I replaced another Sears unit that was ka-put after 14 years. Imagine that! Wonderful unit for the time. This is just as good for the office I have except that it cuts on all the time. This was supposed to be a supplemental unit for the main a/c unit for outr building, my office was originally a storage room converted to an office. The main a/c just wasn't quite enough during the heat of the day, so we installed a unit in the outside wall. This unit cuts on more that every 3 minutes as described in the manual, and if it senses that cooling is required after it stops sampling- then it cuts on again in a few seconds to cool the room. I find this to be very anoying and noisy since it's right over my head behind me. The other unit did not sample the air, and kept the room very cool even on a lower setting. Since this is South Florida, you can understand that the unit cuts on an awful lot, I just......

I purchased this unit because my old (12 Years) window unit was rusting away, and getting very noisey. Once my new unit was installed I was instantly impressed with how well it cooled and the air flow it provided. The remote control is a delightful feature that makes being comfortable despite what mood my old body is in very easy. The only drawback is the front cover is kinda flimsey and wants to rattle, I had to carefully secure a couple more points on the cover to stop some vibration induced rattles....

Initially I bought the 12000 BTU 75121. That smaller unit was defective when pulled new out of box. When its fan turned it was obviously hitting upon something inside the air conditioner, producing horrible noise. (So much for CR giving that unit one of its highest overall product ratings. Does anyone even care what CR rates anything anymore?)

OK, so I figured long as I was inconvenienced to return the defective 75121, I figured I might as well upgrade to the 75151. Lets hope that in the long-run the quality of the 75151 proves to be good. My initial perception is very positive.

I installed the 75151 and the entire family was amazed how quiet it was; however, there is a trick to reduce the vibration noise. Build a SOLID, flat (heavy duty wood, or steel) platform to completely support this monster from underneath when you hang it out your window. I'm talking about 2"x4" beams with 3/4" plywood construction. Then the trick is to remove the Styrofoam bottom of the shipping box and cut it......

I purchased this a/c unit 2 years ago for my business. I have 640 sq ft in my 2 offices and we use this model in one of them and a box fan to pull the air into the other office. We have been very pleased with the comfort. Although "they" do not recommend it for a slider window we install it and have had no complaints. Looking to buy another one for the garage/apt. Only complaint is the noise while running and talking on the phone. Not that it is loud, but the telephone mic seems to pick up the sound.
Works great set at 76 energy saver mode in 104 degree Texas climate....

Pros:
Air Conditioner cools relatively well. Very high EER helps.
Cons:
Poor installation manual
Cheap washers used with support bracket.
Weird rattling noise from loose component that holds together evaporator coils component.
Air blows in one direction only - Forward!!!.
Energy saving mode is useless if you really want to cool off ur home.
i bought this unit to cool off a first floor totaling 650sqft(4 rooms). The total BTU shold be MORE than enough. But seems to lack in any other mode than cool. I actually had to place a tiny metal wedge (removable screwdriver tip)in front of the coil to stop the rattling. For the price you pay i don't think it is a justified fix. I was thinking about returning and exchanging the unit but i am afraid from what i've read it is a general occurence. If you can put up with the pains involved with installation, the excessive rattle from the loose evaporator coils and the one direction air control then this may be the unit for you!...

Model 75151 is bulky and weighs over 100 lbs. I didn't have to worry about that though because the Sears Installation team handled the job flawlessly and even let me hover about without getting angry. Team was careful about my property and were clean. They took away my old unit. That was important to me. Installation is 5 star.

Function - Performance. The unit is thus far as advertised. I discounted claims by other reviewers about the loud fan thinking they were exaggerating or had the fan on 'high speed'. The REAL scoop is that the fan is rather load at any speed. It will probably require you to turn up the volume on that TV or cordless phone if you are in the same room. The Energy saver function which turns off the fan whenever the desired temperature is reached and the compression turns off was one of the main reasons I chose this unit. The REAL scoop is the compressor keeps kicking on every few minutes for 20 - 30 seconds - along with the fan of course - which is annoying when sitting......

I purchased this unit about three weeks ago. I had to replace an old 1980's model that was on it's last leg. The installation of the new unit was swift and easy. It took me longer to remove the old unit. After installing the unit, i turned it on, and within minutes it had coooled 3 room in my home. I love the timer and the auto shut on and off features. I have ran it through it's paces confirming the ability of the unit. It gets high remarks from me. Today will be our hottest day this summer, lets see how well it holds up to over 100 degree temtature. I'm sure it will work out fine....

I have had this now for about a month and so far I am very pleased.

It cools my 3-bedroom apartment with no problem, including an additional sun room. It is more of a semi-slow, but very steady cooling process, rather than the immediate icing you get from a non-Energy-Star model.

Based on the reviews, I do worry that maybe I will be unlucky and it will die, but I am not going to lose sleep over that.

First, forget their INCREDIBLY CONFUSING mounting instructions and just look at it with common sense. I DO NOT recommend taking it out of the housing as they instruct, but rather just stick it in the window as one piece (You may need help since it weighs about 100 pounds). I suspect that this will reduce the possibility of problems that others have posted here since you are less likely to damage the internals. I just made a home-made external brace out of two-by-fours. Buy something separately if the mounting stuff they gave you does not seem adequate or easy to install in your location.......

This unit was to replace a 2 year old fedders unit, bedroom window. large bedroom with large lounge off of.
agree with other posters about hardware being no good but hey I have bolts.
unit is large in size but the ability to fit the case first was ideal. yes you hear the unit at night but it is quieter than the last unit, unless on high.
cools fantastic in fact had to set temp higher or the lounge was getting too cold. the purchase price was on the high side, I thought, but given the quality of the main unit and it's fantastic cooling it is worth every penny. recent high temps in NC had no effect on the units ability it just cools and cools.
I would buy another for the back of the house when needed....
