Well only about a half an hour to install. Having one in place prior helps. Up graded from a 1/2 h.p. to a 3/4 h.p. very noticeable difference. Easy to install. The only suggestion I would have is an extra person to line up the "locking collar" as you hold the unit in place. The 5 tear in home warranty is a plus.
...

This is a great appliance but note that it does not come with a power cord. I purchased this unit on line and ordered install to go along with it. The item arrived, I did not open the box. I let the plumber do that. When he did there was no power cord. He was kind enough to use the old one. No place on the Sears site does it say that there is not a power cord included. This the only reason I am only giving them 4 stars. The equipment is great and the installer was great as well....

TexDan says "Bets Warranty for the Price" about Kenmore 3/4 hp Food Waste Disposer

Comes with a four year warranty. (For the price, no other brand even comes close with this kind of warranty). Compared with other models at the two "big" home improvement stores, this was the best deal.

Installation is pretty easy. However, it does not come with the power cord. You'll have to buy one or use the one from your old unit. The "trickiest" part of the installion might be reconfiguring your drain pipes. This unit is a lot bigger than my old one so I had to make some minor adjustments to the pipes.

Regarding noise, it's defintely not the loudest and it's probably not the quietest either. However, the noise does not disrupt anything. It's definitely quieter than my previous unit (GE 1/3hp). I guess for ultimate silence you'll need to spend $200-$300.

Bottom line, I'm satisfied with the purchase. You get what you pay for....

Bought this disposer about 5 years ago when i remodeled my kitchen. My wife loved it because it had more power and ran quieter than any of our other disposers. Unfortunatly my daughter accidently dropped one of those things you stick into the end of sweet corn into the disposer and when it was turned on, the two sharp points stuck through the rubber boot at the top of the disposer and created a leak. I was really glad to find that Sears still makes the same model. I ordered it on line, picked it up later that day, and was able to screw off the old one and screw on the new one without replacing any plumbing or even the sink drain. I guess thats the beauty of buying something at Sears....

This is the 2nd Sears disposal I've installed which made this one all the easier since I didn't have to replace the sink drain to connect the disposal like last time.
The previous one had the bearings(?) go bad after 9 years so I replaced it with the same size.
Runs alot quieter now and chops everything our family of 5 can stuff in there.
Came with everything I needed to install it....

We are satisified with the disposer itself. We were replacing a smaller Kenmore that lasted more than 14 years! However, our salesperson was the problem. We specifically asked if the power cord was included, and she very clearly said, "Yes it is". We commented that we had read a review on-line that said it wasn't and her response was, "Well, I've never heard that. It is in there". Well, of course it wasn't. Fortunately we just reused the old one. Also, she told us the black rubber part that you see looking down in the sink (not sure what it is called!), was not included and it was! So we purchased that unnecessarily. Again, we are satisified with the disposer itself. It's not that quiet, but I wouldn't call it loud either. We've had good luck with Kenmore products in the past. We shopped around and this was the best deal we found....

Although I have some concerns about the life of the galvanized parts we don't use the disposal heavily, as we compost a lot. For the sale price of $99 I feel we got our money's worth. Clear instructions, very easy to install, as it used the same mount a a previous disposal. Did the whole job including cleanup in well under an hour....

My first Kenmore disposer lasted 19 years and it was the builders model. I had to replace it because it rusted out at the diswasher connection and leaked in my cabinet.

All of Sears disposers are made by Insinkerator, so if you compare model for model, they both are the same. I chose this model because it was on sale at the time and installation was cheaper than calling a plumber.

I have not had any mechanical problems with this model. I did notice, however, that it is beginning to rust inside. It doesn't appear as though it will rust all the way through, but since I have only had this model for a year, I really don't know. The exterior of the unit looks attrative and durable.

This model carries a 4 year warranty and if it does rust out, I will be covered for 4 years.

If longevity is crucial, I would probable opt for the Kenmore Elite model that is totally stanless steel. But I would bet that I will get 5+ years out of this model....

My first unit lasted 2 years. The turn table corroded and had a half inch hole rusted out. The shredder teeth also corroded away. I replaced it with an identical unit. It also lasted only 2 years with the same results. It was a waste of time and money. The galvanized steel shredder parts are short term use!...
