KEITHINNEVADA says "BEST ON THE MARKET" about Kenmore 50 gal. Water Heater

I installed this yesterday. I'm still amazed at how well built this is. I did my research before purchasing and already found out that it is the most efficient 50 gallon model made by Kenmore (even more efficient than the Power Miser line) and it's also more efficient than all choices at the other 2 Home Improvement stores in my area (am I allowed to mention their names here?). It's much more efficient than all models found at one of the other Home Improvement stores, and the other store, although although they had ONE model that, like this Kenmore, is rated at using only 234 Therms/year, the other stores model has a 1st hour rating of only 87 gallons, while this Kenmore reaches a full 90 gallons with its 1st hour rating.

So yes, going into this I already knew that on paper this was the Best of the Best for a 50 gallon water heater. But during the installation, it was the solid construction that lead the confidence to write a glowing review and highly recommend it....

Bought the unit 6 months ago. Has given us no problem except the thermostat on the unit is way off and is inconsistant. Sometimes it is not hot enough and sometimes it is too hot. That's a legitimate flaw in my book!...

When we first started looking for water heaters we decided to replace the old 40 gal with a new 40 gal power miser 6. Bad idea. They don't make them like they used to. Our newer 40 gal was constantly running out hot water when we did 2 short showers within a half hour. So, after a little bit of resistance, sears let me swap up to this unit and I am very pleased. Lots of hot water and consistent temps. Also, this unit is VERY quiet. I should have done more research from the start and saved myself the trouble/expense of having to return the other one. In the end, even with the added expense, his unit is worth every penny....

I purchased this water heater 3 months ago and it has been wonderful. I have a family of five with three bathrooms in which all three showers are running at the sametime in the mornings. We have never ran out of hot water. The water temperature is very consistent and the heater is very efficient. This has been a very good purchase that I would certainly recomend to others....

This unit is total quality. The ease of installation, the gas/temperature controls and pilot light features, and the tank insulation (box also includes 3/4" pipe & PTV insulation at no addtional charge), are unmatched by other similar units prodcued by Whirpool, US Craftmaster, and others. I did thorough research! I would strongly recommend this hot water heater to friends and family....

Installed this Hydrosense myself. Couldn't be better... comes with TP valve and heat nipples already installed. They also include foam pipe insulation so you know attention is paid to detail. User manual instructions are very clear as usual from Kenmore. Unit is ultra energy saver and they use 2 anode rods with double insulation. I'm impressed....

The thermopile failed before the day was over. Called the installer and Sears and they wanted to repair rather than replace. Was told that this is a new model but the manufacturing date on the tank is July 2007 - over one year ago. 5 days without consistent hot water and still waiting for a resolution....

Tank is a good design but after only 3 months I have a Thermopile error and no hot water. I called service right away and can not receive service for 5 days. I was informed that Sears no longer offers emergency service. I think that they should inform you of that when you purchase a service agreement....

Purchased the Kenmore hydrosense water heater to replace a 15 year old "10 Series", which they don't make anymore.

We just had it installed a few days ago, so I can't comment on the longevity of the water heater.

I was concerned about the installation because of the many comments on this site, but it went smoothly and quickly.

Bought the water heater at the Sears at Landmark Mall in Northern Virginia. Sales people were very helpful and answered my questions.

The installers were very helpful and polite--no extra charges (I was a bit concerned because the salesperson gave me a 'look' that if there were any major issues in the installation that I could expect some charges.)

Ours was a straight remove and install, as the old and new water heater are very close in size.

I think because of the area, contractors covet a steady supply of work from Sears and do their best. We had a washer/dryer serviced with great success. We bought our dishwasher, dryer, washing machine, and now water heater......

I purchased this new gas water heater about a month ago. It was to replace a 50 gallon electric water heater that was not keeping up with demand, since their our now 11 of us in the house. The tank is doing a great job, if it does everything it says it should save me on energy also still awaiting my first gas bill. The only real suggestion I have other than if you need a new gas water heater to buy this one is hire your own contractor to install it. I saved about half the cost on installation by finding my own contractor....

I wanted to leave a quick review on this water heater we had installed a few day ago. It replaced a (no kidding) 40-year-old Colemen Saturn Burner water heater. What an improvement in water quality, temperature consistency and flow!
Another important note - we used Sears installation. I 've seen a lot of complaints about their installation service on this site and I was concerned going in. To be perfectly honest, the installation lived up to my expectations and was really quite timely and professsional. I wish they could have come the day we called, but they came first thing in the morning the following day. All in all, it was a pretty positive experience....

I bought this water heater to replace my 40 gallon heater. It came with the heat traps and includes a the water pipe insulation for the pipes that are coming out of the heater. The lighting of this heater was easy too. I like that this has a sealed burner chamber too. The air intake screen/filter is a lot easier than I thought as well. There is a plastic screen that clips to the front part underneath. It covers the air intake for the burner. It screens out lint and hair to keep the burner areas clean.
One thing to watch though is that the diameter of this unit is not correct on the website. It states it is 20" and it is actually 22" They have not updated the specs with the new dimensions. Energy requirements are stricter now and require thicker insualtion and make the tank fatter. The display in the store actually says to check the diameter as they have changed.
A very nice water heater. Pricey, but I try to buy the best of things if I can afford it and makes sense. This heater should last......
