So far the only issue we have had with it has been the common Ice buck being stuck in the door. Its only a problem when we are going on trips or have a party and want to dump the bucket. We live in a very humid environment so I guess we are more likely to encounter this issue. This is the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5. Someone at whirlpool (that's who actually makes this fridge) has to make that design more robust. The energy star rating said something like "only $48 per year" to run this unit...amazing! It's quiet and the only noize I hear is when the ice machine is filling with water. I can certaintly live with that. Since ours is exposed on one side we were really driven by the monochromatic sides and the counter-depth feature for our "smallish" kitchen and the quality Kenmore name too boot. My only regret was not getting the next size up (taller) in this same model which added like another cubic foot or two(but...... The ice maker is loud when it starts up, but it doesn't run too long. The ice maker noise wasn't too much of a concern so long as everything else works well. Here we are, less than 2 months after accepting delivery of this refrigerator and it is broken. The refrigerator/freezer control panel turned itself off one day and will no longer come back on. As a result, our refrigerator has power but no longer cools anything. Sure, we can still get water out of the dispenser, but all of our food has spoiled. Fun times! My recommendation...don't buy this refrigerator. It gets better, Sears told us they won't even be able to send a repairman out to look at our unit for 8 days. I'm giving this unit one star because it looks nice.... We did not get a chance to do any research so we purchsed the LG, a floor model, so we could take it home that day. We were told that it was EnergyStar and a great fridge, so we loaded it up and took it home. It wasn't until about a month later when the EnergyStar rebate that we submitted to our electric company was denied saying that model was not EnergyStar. We called our sears store and explained to the store manager what had happened and with out a bat of an eye, he let us return the LG & choose a different fridge. We did our research this time and decided to stick with Kenmore Elite, which we've always owned, and went with this model. This model happens to be the same one that the store manager owns and loves. It also has a EnergyStar rating of a "1" you can't get any better than that! Okay so our new fridge arrived last night and I couldn't be happier. I was concerned about the grey...... We have had it one month and 3 times the ice maker has not worked. A piece of ice gets stuck in the ice maker and you find yourself without ice. The clincher was that the door assembly froze and we were unable to get any ice or take the container off. This is a problem with the design. I want the same fridge, but with the ice bin in the freezer. Apparently, the flap gets stuck open and allows humidity up to the ice bin and it freezes the area around the flap. What a disappointment!... The only problem we had was the height of the fridge. One of the main reasons for choosing this refridgerator was of the height. The measurements said it was 68 1/2 High, when in fact it measures almost 68 3/4. The opening we had was 68 3/4 so we had to trim away a good 1/2 inch of the cabinet above. Just beware of this measurement.... The counter depth size has made a huge difference in the appearance of our kitchen. Our last fridge was 27 cu ft so now we have noticably less stoage space but overall it's worth the sacrifice. The Fresh n Ready bins looked cool in the store but once I started filling the fridge, I realized it's a bit impractical. Maybe I'll find a better use for them (right now I have grapes & yogurt in them) but I feel they are taking up valuable space that could have been used to store more bottles of condiments, dressings, etc. Also, what's up with that last "rack" at the bottom of the door? The only thing I can find that fits in there is a pkg of bacon.... However, the additional room provided can be well worth the additional cost. The Kenmore Elite is less expensive than most counter depths with similar features. The compact ice machine, touch button controls and built-in water filtration system make this a great value. However, the best feature was the service. The Sears delivery team was on time, provided quick and professional installation, thoroughly explained all of the Elite features and carefully removed and carried off our old, non-working refrigerator FREE OF CHARGE. I shopped around and found high ratings from independent review sources with a great price for the value. This is a great value for counter depth refrigerators.... Wasted space. I'm also a little surprised at how small the capacity seems, but I have another full size (not counter depth), so perhaps my perspective is off. The biggest warning: the refrigerator door has to swing ALL the way open in order to pull the drawers out to full extension. I installed this in the end of a kitchen with an L-shaped counter, and the door hits edge of the counter at about 125 degrees; I will have to pull out the refrigerator in order to clean the drawers....
