I bought this iron from Kmart because I had a lower end model that just wasn't doing what I wanted it to do. I really loved the modern design and color of this iron! The iron itself is lightweight and extremely easy to use! I was surprised at how well it glides over the clothes. I was also surprised at how fast this iron heats up! It is well worth the price. Like almost any other Kenmore product that I have ever owned, I am happy with it. It has a powerful steamer also which I love!...

I purchased this Iron (Kenmore 80588) instead of going with the **************** #1 Rated Steam Iron, which also is a Kenmore (Model 80598). When I got to the store, I noticed that there was this orange model and based off the box information the only difference was 100 Watts for approx. $10 difference. So I went with one thinking that it would be pretty much the same performance.

When I got the iron home I wanted to iron a brand new linen shower curtain. Seems par for the course to iron things with an iron that you EXPECT to do the job. Once I got everything set and ready to go I started to iron, like anyone would, and I look down and there was RUST STAINS on the shower curtain. Upon turning the iron over and looking at the bottom, I discover RUST on the bottom of the iron. A BRAND NEW IRON WITH RUST?! So the shower curtain is now ruined, I have to make ANOTHER trip to Sears to take the iron back and I WILL NOT Purchase another one from there.

I then proceeded to look online for......

I use that Iron and at the first year no problem. It gives a very good performance but later start the leaks all the time. Now i can used because it have coorsion inside the heat chamber and the vapor came with rust included. This never happen to me before. The iron on the outside looks very good but in the interior is all rust and the garanty now is not good. It is a Iron to be used for one year or two.

Purchased this iron to replace older Sunbeam one. It is really great. It is light weight but does a good job both as a steam iron and dry iron. The coating makes it glide smoothly on all fabrics I've ironed so far. I hate ironing, so if I like this iron, it is truely amazing! And I got it for a great price too. Cheaper than the Big Box Store!
...

I love this iron and I personally hate to iron. This iron heats-up quickly and has a tremendous steam output. The steam output is great for getting our difficult wrinkles. Some have complained about the temperature control being close to the handle. I have only accidently turned off the iron this way one time. I do not find this issue to be a problem. It comes with a little fill cup to add water to the iron, which helps to prevent over-filling the iron. It also has an automatic off function, if someone forgets to turn the iron off when finished ironing. It is a good weight and has a stainless steel soleplate. Some might want a non-stick soleplate, but this has not been a problem for me so far. I have owned this iron for almost 5 months now. It has features found on more expensive irons (individual fabric settings, steam settings, a self-cleaning feature, and the auto-off feature). You will hear the thermostat turn the iron on and off, which is a noticeable click when this happens. It also...
...

It's a nice looking product and you expect that for $50.00 you should get something at least half decent. It's very quite and it warms up pretty fast. Now, when it comes to water... IT LEAKS LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW!!! I even went back to the store and asked one of the staff members to open one of the boxes, so I can take a look at the owners manual. I followed all the instructions and tried different types of water, but it still keeps droping water all over the place. Like I said I wish I still had the box and the receipt to return it, but I'm now stock with this piece of junk. It's a shame as I had to go back and buy another to replace this horrible device. I have to iron my shirts everyday before going to work, but if I'm in a hurry... forget it!!! I can't not believe that Kenmore can produce a product of this kind....

After extensive research on irons I decided the 2 year warranty on the Kenmore brand made it a no brainer. It's the only two year warranty in the industry that I could find. I had read all previous reviews and noted that one person commented that the buttons to change the temperature were situated in a place where you could easily change the temp without noticing but it wasn't a universal complaint.

This iron appears to have many good features. It heated up quickly, is easy to fill the water tank and the digital readout was clear. I'll agree with other reviewers that the steam dial on the front of the handle is a bit difficult to see. Within 5 minutes of using it, I noticed a spurt of water from the soleplate and noticed that the heat setting had been lowered to a point where the iron no longer supported the steam function. It became apparent that my hand while ironing covers the "+" and "-" buttons that adjust the temperature. After several attempts to hold the handle farther back (I...
...

I am trying to replace an older B&D model, a 1200w Steam Express 680 that just doesn't cut it on cotton. I purchased the Kenmore at my local Kmart with high hopes. I did not test the vertical steam abilities.

The Good: Heats quickly, doesn't leak, easy to set and read the temperature, soleplate is very smooth making iron easy to maneuver.

The Not-So-Good:

- Weak steam output: at the highest temp (linen) and steam setting (max), didn't seem to produce any more steam than the old iron I'm attempting to replace.

- Lacks steam vents at the tip of the iron: my old B&D didn't have any at the tip either, however the soleplate was smaller and the general steam vents were closer to the tip/edges than they are with this iron.

- Steam dial is hard to read: the settings are printed on the dial wheel, which is set into the front end of the handle area. The icons are small to begin with, but end up partly obscured by the slot in which the wheel is housed.

The LCD screen is nice, but...
...

I like the Kenmore Iron because it's strong. When having to iron jeans and shirts this iron can be adjusted to the right temperature that's needed to get the job. It's strong enough but light in weight so that anyone even a person with a slight stiffness (like myself) in the hand can handle it. The color is bright and cheerful. It's easy to clean. It's just a wonderful iron
...

I've had a spectrum of irons ranging from low-end drugstore brands to pricey (though not very pricey) professional brands. This iron falls in the middle, price-wise, but comparing its performance, it's by-far the best out there. I've never really been able to make good creases in my dress pants, but with this, I get crisp creases every time with little effort. I can iron my boyfriend's work shirts in half the time it took me with my last, fancier iron as well. There are a few things that would make it perfect though: 1) an easier way to fill the reservoir, as it's hard to tilt and see the water level very well, especially if you're right-handed (which many of us are!), 2) more settings that correspond to other fabrics than the ones listed, 3) a prettier color because even though it's not a huge deal, I'm not into the hot orange! Overall though, I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend this iron to a friend.
...
