This is my 3rd Kenmore canister vacuum cleaner and so far it has lasted the shortest amount of time. It will be 2 years old tomorrow and I have just replaced the electrical connector that connects the wand to the handle due to an electrical short. I Have had to replace this in every Kenmore canister I have owned but it usually lasted 5 years before it needed replacing. I cant believe that all these years and they still use this potentially dangerous style connector.

This will be the last Kenmore anything I will ever purchase!!!!

The vacuum looks good and I am hoping it will be useful when it comes to cleaning underneath my bed and when I try to reach far places that I cannot get to without the help of the telescopic feature of the handle. I think it may just do a good/excellent job.

Our prevous Sears canister vac lasted 22 years until it caugh fire last week. We took it outside to cool down and it's still there. The old 22 year old motor gave up and died. I thought that vac would never die. This new vac is quite an improvement and is much lighter than old smokey. I like this new vac, and interestingly it cleans carpet better than (God forbid) our Dyson from Great Britain. This Sears vac has very powerful suction. The small rotating brush attachment is sublime and cleans cat hair off furniture perfectly. To sum it up this new Sears vac really sucks dirt! 5 Stars all the way!...

This vacuum has been great for me. I have a cat who sheds everywhere, and the mini-motorized attachment works wonders on getting her hair off of furniture. Another great feature is that the telescoping handle is very simple to use, and you can change the suction level right on the handle. It's easy to use, and I love that the attachments are right inside the unit....

Overall a good machine for the money. Suction could be better. There is air flow where the handle meets the hose and I think that is where some of the problem is. Would say that the value of the machine is good for the cost....

All though this is a bulky, cumbersome and heavy vacumn it does the job well. There are benefits in using a canister getting into low places and on stairs. But, getting twisted around the tube and having to always pick up the main part to carry when you are moving around to different locations. All in all I would recommend this vacumn there is no perfect vacumn....

I had my kenmore for four years,and it did a very good job! I have two kids and I vacuum almost every day.(no pets) After about a Year we had to replace the plug,and a year after that we had to replace the plastic part that holds the Telescopic wand together. But of cause we could't get just the plastic part...we had to buy the whole buttom piece with half the wand and the electic cable attached. ca $80.00 two years later....there is another piece (a little plug that connects in the handel from the wand it's burn out all black and to replace that part it would cost almost $140.00 since you have to buy the whole handle part and part of the hose!!To many connections in the wand for me ..the vacuum is still working fine but the wand is the problem!!!I'm in the process of buying a new vac. right now but I'm not sure if it's going to be a kennmore unless they have one were the wand is just one single piece!!I really liked the feature that I can tuirn it on/off on the handle and switch to hard......

I just purchase one about an hour ago and I can't tell you how much I enjoy using this product. I was amazed how easy it is to move around with and that I can vacuum under my bed, night stands with out moving the furniture around. I like all the extra stuff that comes with it I will definetly use it and you can't beat the price. As far as durability I am not sure since I only used it once but, I LOVE my new vacuum cleaner....

I did check consumer reviews before purchasing the Kenmore Progressive and it was very highly rated. My old canister vac did a decent job of cleaning but it was very loud and I basically had an allergy attack each time I vaccumed, which was so unplesant I would put it off. The HEPA filter bag makes a huge difference! And the Progressive is the quietest vacuum I've ever used. I have been very happy with my purchase....

Not only is this an awesome vacuum cleaner, but this is also one of the best prices for this model! Not that I'm really that into housework, I must admit that if I "have" to vacuum the floors (both carpet and wood), then this is definitely the tool of choice. I recently purchased this vacuum to clean my mother's house after she passed away. Yes, my mother was the cat lady and she also had two great danes....there was alot of pet hair. The vacuum works wonderfully to pick up pet hair and the tools are easy and convienent to use to get in the crevices, corners, and edges. The vacuum is light enough to move easily from floor to floor, but sturdy enough that it isn't always tipping over while you vacuum...I bought this for my mom's house, but I prefer it to my Miele!...

My husand and I already own an Oreck upright, but after removing all the carpeting in our home, installing tile and refinishing the hardwood floors, we needed a vacuum that could get into corners and had more features. We looked to Consumer Reports and the Kenmore Progressive had the best rating. So, we ordered it online for pickup at our local Sears. We were delighted to see it had gone on sale. Consumer Reports was right on in their rating. This is an excellent vacuum. The onboard tools are convenient, the telescoping wand makes getting into hard to reach places a breeze and it has ample suction power. We used this vacuum to clean out our fireplace. The filter bag ensured that not a single ash was released in the exhaust. Far and away the best feature is the Powermate Junior cleaning head, a smaller version of the full size brush attachment, which was included. We have two dogs and this makes cleaning their beds between washes just a breeze. It has also been great for cleaning our other......

We received a Sears Kenmore canister vacuum as a gift in 1970. My vacuum is still going strong. It's a little battered and stained, but it still has great pick-up. I've replace some of the accessory parts over the years. But I recommend a Kenmore cannister vacuum....

I have had many cannister model vacuums. All are clumsy to use because they require one to use a foot to turn on and off. Having the on/off button in the handle is absolutely the most efficent and easy way to operate a cannister vacuum. When one is physically less able to stand on one foot, the hand switch is a godsend. I would not consider any other cannister vacuum. Also, the tools are easily accessible and replacing the bag is also most easy to do. All in all, this has been the most user friendly cannister vacuum on the market today....

This is a wonderful vacuum. It has powerful suction and it is very easy to maneuver around a two-story house. The vacuum bags are very easy to change, and they hold a lot of dirt. The attachments are quite nice, especially the combination dust/upholstery brush. My only complaint is that the lid to the area where the attachments are stored seems a little flimsy. We have a lot of sandy dust here and it can handle it just fine. Overall an excellent choice for my family!...

I enjoy using this vacuum as it continues to live up to the good Kenmore name in quality vacuum products. I am pretty rough on my vacuums and this one is holding up excellently even in light of a recent move we've made that has required lots of cleaning time. I am thankful for the neutral and smart white color as opposed to gray, royal blue, or bright red. I find that I shy away from purchasing appliances with such bold colors. Thank you Sears for carrying quality vacuums--please continue to do so!...

I have bought three of these vacuums--one for myself and one each for two children when they moved into apartments as college students. The main thing I look for in a vacuum is the suction power. These vacuums out perform other vacs because their suction power is great...one pass over the dirt on carpet or hardwood floors and it picks up everything. The Sears vac is very durable, but, if needed,parts are readily available....

I received this vacuum six months ago, and I have been very impressed so far. It is lightweight and easy to bring to different floors. I love being able to lengthen the shaft in order to get hard-to-reach spots in ceiling corners, and I have found the upholstery attachment to be quite useful. I would recommend this vacuum highly....
