This vacuum it the BEST! I took a long time and did alot of research from animal breeders, etc...on the BEST vacuum for our home, which has all wood floors, with area rugs. Those of you that have pets and wood floors know the tumbleweeds of pet hair that roll around the floor, and under the couch....this took care of all of it, every inch! Under the radiators, couch, counters, and the rugs. The attatchment for the upolstry is a great addition! I feel good using this vacuum, no "kick-back" of dirt hitting your feet when you vacuum. For the money, this vacuum seems well built. I tend now to use it more than the inhouse vacuum system. The attachments all snap under the cover, including the small vacuum head for drapes etc. They are somewhat hard to snap in and out, but not a big problem. The vacuum has enough suction and the small head has more than enough. Consumer Reports rated this vacuum very high, and you can certainly pay double or more for an upscale brand if you desire. The cord retracts with a step on a large button on the unit and even the electrical plug is designed to be easy to grasp. My one beef isn't with the vacuum, but with Sears. They show as optional items; bags and a crevice tool, so I assumed the vacuum didn't come with one. The vacuum does come with a crevice tool, so don't buy another. This vacuum just doesn't have enough power to make vacuuming easy. I have to work up a sweat to get my carpets free of the most obvious fur balls. The telescopic wand sometimes shortens on its own - a bit of a surprise when i'm vacuuming, and therefore not easy on the back. I need the floor brush to really get the carpets clean - the powerbush gets surface dirt only. I though I'd done my homework before buying this vacuum and even though I've owned this about 6 months, I'm ready to buy something new.... I work five days a week, cleaning one house a day. I have only had the canister for about six months. The wand is already not working properly. The divots in the wand are pretty much flattened from the wear and tear of everyday use. I have been cleaning houses for about five years now. I really do like Kenmore vacuums. This canister though is not holding up. Every time I push on the wand, while vacuuming slightly dense carpet the wand pushes all the way down to the beater bar. Now just this week I have run into yet another problem. The prongs that connect to wand from the beater bar head are now disconnected from the beater bar head attachment. I have had a couple of Kenmore vacuums before and was really pleased. This model however has left me less than satisfied. I am very disappointed.... Folks with stairs will not appreciate having to carry it up and down, and wrestle with it while vacuuming the stairs. When using HEPA cloth bags, this vacuum has very, very low emissions of dust. The cheaper paper bags don't do as good a job of filtering out the tiniest particles, so if you suffer from allergies, it's best to go for the more expensive HEPA bags.... But now I wonder why I didn't retire my little 29-year-old $99 Hoover canister sooner. This is one kick-butt little picker-upper. The wheels on the Turbo attachment make it easy to use, it sucks up dirt like an upright, and the on-off switch on the handle is very handy. My only beefs are: a) that the only small attachment suitable for steps is the little mini-Turbo, which kicks butt but is sometimes like swatting a fly with a nuclear warhead; and b) the HEPA bags are pricey. A small attachment like a mini-floorbrush would be nice to have. Other than that, a great little machine.... The hose had been run over. It got dropped down the stairs more than once. I am terrible about having things serviced regularly and it is still running and still doing a good job (on 3 wheels I might add). When I decided to get another vac for the upstairs so I wouldn't have to carry them up and down the steps, I immediately went back to Sears for the newer version of my old friend. The body is a little less durable looking than the original but it is holding up very well and I like all the new conveniences. The telescoping wand and the small beater bar on board with the tools is fantastic. Thank you Kenmore!... I have 3 longhaired cats and 1 shorthair cat and 3 dogs. This vacuum gets a workout! I really like have the on/off switch on the handle. Having different floor levels is very handy when I need to vacuum floor rugs. I also like the stair adaptor. The cord is very long and you can use your foot to press the lever to pull the cord back into the vacuum effortlessly. The vacuum head swivels and the dust bag is pretty big. The only thing that I noticed is that it didn't come with a crevice or brush too but I already had those so it didn't matter to me.... It is easy on the back, due to it's lightweight features. But don't this light-weight powerhouse steer you wrong: just because it is not a heavy, clunky and awkward upright, you most definitely are getting a better vacuum than any uprights on the market I've ever owned and it is much easier to use for anyone with back problems. Speaking of the back, you do not have to worry about bending (or tripping over a ton of cords) thanks to the telescoping wand that adjusts to the height you need it for the comfort of your vacuuming needs -- so it is ergonomic. I love all of the tools, bags are simple to change, as are the tools and I don't know what I'd do without the powermate junior for my stair needs. It does a super cleaning job for all my household needs and I've even used it to clean out the inside of my car! I'd purchase one again if I ever have to replace this. Also...service...... The light weight head with aluminum telescoping tube has made it easy for my wife, who has shoulder problems, to use as she was unable to use the other vacuums due to their weight. The head actually seems to pull itself forward. All of the accessories are stored in the vacuum canister unit. Since we have only owned this unit for 4 weeks, I cannot rate the durability yet, but the other Kenmores that we have owned have lasted very well. I still use our old canister vacuum when cleaning the vehicles....
